I woke up earlier than usual today, and I was able to write in my journal this morning✏️♩ I also wrote the to‑do list that I didn’t get to write last night, and switched my mechanical pencil setting for a change. Right now, I’m relaxing while drinking tea, so here’s the cafe emoji ☕️ I replied to the LINE messages I could reply to right away
(sorry to friends I still haven’t replied to!) Breakfast time 🥞 Before that, I moved the sunflower 🌻 I bought for the first time in a while to a sunny spot, because I heard sunflowers grow towards the sun… For breakfast, I’m having Kellogg’s —
I picked it up when I went home and wanted to eat it again after a long time. I wasn’t really a big fan of cornflakes before, but for some reason I suddenly wanted to try them again 🥣 It’s been a while Got some milk ready for when I wanted to eat it with milk And my drink is iced tea ♩ In the end, I started with milk after all 🐄 I watched the morning drama on NHK On Demand while eating breakfast 📺 When there’s less, I eat with just enough liquid But I thought, I still don’t really like cornflakes as much 🤭 There is one cornflake I do like, this one ↑ I used to buy and eat it often in Portugal when I was there 🤤 I sometimes think it’d be nice if they had it in Japan 💭 I forgot to change the water, so I changed it and added plant food so it lasts longer and put it back in place 🌻 1:00 PM Lunch time Choosing a plate that goes with chilled udon for lunch Cool light-blue 🎐 I gathered my favorite blues ♩ Tomorrow both of us will work at home and have soba for lunch, so I pre‑cut the green onion for that ♩ Tomato 🍅 for topping the chilled udon I love these thin udon noodles 🥰 I also thought tofu would be good with the leftover homemade noodle soup from last night’s simmered fried vegetables, so I added tofu too! I tried topping it with furikake made from leftover bonito flakes from making noodle soup 🐟 And green onion too Green onion for chilled udon Chilled udon soup base I had frozen grated ginger, so I used it like ice 🧊 Plated the tomato to brighten it up 🍅 Here’s today’s lunch 🍴 Chilled udon with homemade soup base and bonito furikake on chilled tofu Chilled udon noodles Perfect meal for a hot summer and feels so refreshing 🎐 That bonito-furikake from leftovers is seriously so delicious 🤤 Eating tomato with udon in the soup base is light and tasty too! So tasty 🤤 It was so good I felt I could eat endless servings, kind of scary 🥰 Added more bonito flakes That was delicious After work, I made some tea And then headed to the supermarket 🛒 It’s cool in the evening, but I brought a cooler bag just in case 🧊 I didn’t plan on stopping by KALDI but I ended up going 🫨 I was so hungry that I bought dried pineapple for the first time in ages 🍍 Shiso leaves for tomorrow The outside feels just right 🌇 Time to start dinner 🍽️ Grilled salmon I sprinkled it with salt beforehand, Making soboro rice I’ve never really researched how to season soboro before, so I ended up using the same flavoring as kinpira burdock Once the meat starts to brown, I just add 2 tablespoons each of sugar, soy sauce, and mirin, and stir‑fry until crumbly
(rich flavor) After the meat’s done, I make the egg soboro in the same pan 🍳 🙋♂️ wanted sweet‑tasting egg soboro, so I just seasoned with sugar The meat soboro now looks nicely dry and delicious 🤤 After finishing the egg soboro, I moved on to prepping the veggies 🫛 I planned to make miso soup with eggplant and okra, but I still had leftover noodle soup base,
so I decided to make agedashi-vegetables 🍆 I boiled edamame, and while that was happening, made the agedashi-vegetables Once hot, I soaked them in the noodle soup base and it was done 🍆 Then I made the egg soboro and it was complete 👏🏻 The egg soboro might be a little bit of a fail The salmon looks deliciously grilled 🤤 The rice is yesterday’s rice, reheated I put bonito furikake on it too Two‑color soboro rice Tonight’s dinner 🍽️ Edamame Eggplant and okra agedashi Soboro rice For some reason, summer vegetables taste so good this year,
and I feel like I’m eating a lot of them 🥗 Agedashi-vegetables is something I tried for the first time recently It was surprisingly easy and I’ve made it several times now It’s the best to eat plenty of summer vegetables deliciously ☺️ After the bath 🫧 Honey‑lemon syrup 🙋♂️ had it with water, I had it with soda I added a bit more honey Relaxing evening time 🍋 I always feel like drinking honey lemon soda, no matter the season 📚 But it still feels best to drink it in summer 🍹 I finally made time to study Portuguese again after a while 📚
