【東京 グルメ】人生に一度は訪れたい築地の名店5選!!おすすめの築地場外市場の食べ歩きから不動の人気を誇る老舗の名店まで盛り沢山!

Hi, I’m KT — and welcome to KT EATS.
From long-standing legendary restaurants to casual street-style comfort food, we taste it all. Let’s dig in. Today, we’re showcasing five iconic spots in Tsukiji — restaurants so famous, they draw food lovers and travelers from all around the world. Tsukiji is synonymous with seafood, right?
And while most people come here for sushi, Tsukiji is so much more than sushi.
Today, we’re spotlighting five must-try restaurants — so stick around until the end. In 2018, the Tokyo Central Wholesale Market moved from Tsukiji to Toyosu, closing the original market. However, the specialty shops and long-established restaurants around the old market are still very much alive and thriving. This restaurant, founded in 1935, is one of Tsukiji’s most iconic establishments. There’s a printed menu, but you’ll also find the dishes listed across the walls. The prices aren’t on the wall, which can feel a bit intimidating at first — but don’t worry. You can enjoy rare fish and seasonal ingredients at very reasonable prices. First up, the pickled vegetables from the set meal arrive.
Lightly pickled cabbage, carrots, and cucumbers, all tossed in a simple dressing. Non-alcoholic beer ¥600/3.85 USD The set meal also comes with miso soup — a hearty clam soup.
Packed with clams, it’s absolutely irresistible. Here’s the rice that comes with the set meal.
Served in a bowl, it’s quite filling — and this is just the regular portion. Having rare, high-quality blackthroat seaperch for lunch is truly a luxurious experience. Japanese Simmered Fish Set Meal ¥2500/16.05 USD Blackthroat seaperch, often called the “fatty tuna of white fish,” is truly a luxurious treat. Some might worry, “I didn’t order such a luxurious dish,” but for just 350 yen/2.25 USD extra, you can add it to your set meal. The meat is so hearty, you’ll be full just from this alone. Tsukiji is truly a remarkable place.
Takeno’s sauce, carefully passed down and refined over generations, is simply exquisite. I was amazed at how delicious the tuna was.
And for just 350 yen/2.25 USD extra, you can add it to your set meal too. The chef said it was a complimentary item, but it might be a little too generous. This is the popular homemade potato salad — and it’s just as hearty. potato salad. 500yen/3.21 USD The fried oysters are another popular dish.
Here, three or four oysters are combined and fried together into one crispy, juicy bite. That means each bite is packed with rich flavor — juicy and utterly satisfying. Japanese fried oyster set meal. 1500yen/9.64USD The next restaurant was established in 1947. This is a renowned spot for stewed offal, slow-cooked in a large cauldron — a true delight for stew lovers. The menu features stewed offal, beef bowls, and meat tofu.
For drinks, you can enjoy sake or beer. Place your order and pay at the counter. There are also tables along the street where you can enjoy your meal. Simmered Offal Rice Bowl. 900yen/5.78USD The rich brown color of the Hatcho miso is beautiful.
Its flavor is surprisingly deep yet mild, and the offal is incredibly fresh and tender. with a concentrated beef flavor. This is irresistible. This is aged pickled beef.
Made using only salt, it’s packed with the wonderful umami and tangy flavor from fermentation. And this is pickled napa cabbage — light, refreshing, and full of flavor. 150yen/0.96USD This is gyudon — Japan’s beloved beef bowl. Generously topped with tenderly cooked beef, I added a soft-boiled egg to my beef bowl. Gyudon ¥800/5.14USD, Slow-cooked Japanese Egg ¥100/0.64USD The sweet and savory flavor of the high-quality meat made the rice absolutely irresistible. The next spot is a long-established specialty shop for fish roe. Their fish roe dishes are incredibly popular. First, you order and pay, then receive a ticket.
Take your seat when your number is called. There’s seating at the counter, as well as these stand-up tables. The menu features dishes unique to a fish roe specialty shop, including mentaiko, cod roe, and salmon roe. Drinks include coffee and this limited-edition soda. 400yen/2.57USD If you sit at the counter, the staff will prepare your order right in front of you. They make your pasta right in front of you — and it’s ready in no time. The pasta is topped with sliced mentaiko and green onions. The pasta is finished with chili pepper — the same one used to make mentaiko — but don’t worry, it’s not too spicy. The pasta is extra thick — 2.2 millimeters — giving it an irresistible chewy texture. Plenty of mentaiko mixed with chili spice makes this dangerously addictive. And here, we have a soup made with dried flying fish broth. Tarako Spaghetti. 900yen/5.78USD This cod roe pasta comes topped with shredded seaweed and a fresh lemon garnish. The cod roe is generously mixed in, but this is far from your average cod roe. A bit of yuzu kosho on top makes it even better. Our next stop is a long-established local Chinese restaurant, founded in 1950. Extremely popular with market workers, this restaurant can be a bit tricky to find. It’s located in the aisle next to the tea shop “Koshuen”, nestled between a green and blue awning. I step into this narrow alleyway. Here’s the menu — very simple: ramen, fried rice, shumai, and curry. This is Tsukiji’s famous shumai. The huge shumai is impressive. Shumai ー Steamed Pork Dumplings. ¥250/1.61USD per piece In Tsukiji, shumai has long been served with sauce. The sweetness of the meat and onion shines through, and the densely packed umami of the meat is simply irresistible. The ramen has arrived.
¥900/5.78USD The char siu is generously sized as well. It’s also topped with green onions, bamboo shoots, and snow peas. The soup has a beautiful amber color.
Its rich, meaty flavor is full-bodied, with the aroma of soy sauce and a nostalgic touch — truly irresistible. The chewy, firm noodles are delicious as well. Best of all, this ramen comes with two large slices of pork.
They’re flavorful, filling, and the rich sweetness of the fat is simply superb. We also have fried rice.
It comes with lightly pickled Chinese cabbage and a bowl of Chinese-style soup. Fried rice 1000yen/6.42USD The fried rice is moist, fluffy, and absolutely delicious.
But what makes it so tasty? The pork slices are delicious right? It’s delicious!! But what makes it so delicious? Because it’s made with love. It must be the landlady’s love. Yes, that’s right. The landlady herself makes the fried rice. That’s right. I do almost everything. Everything. From preparation! By the way, there’s another Koken shop located right across the street. This is a takeout specialty shop, where you can buy those huge shumai. This spot is perfect for when you want to take a short break. It’s located on the third floor of the Tsukiji Odawarabashi Building along Namiyoke Street. It’s a food court called Uogashi Shokudo.
You can easily reach it by taking the elevator on Namiyoke Street. Here, you’ll find the Tsukiji branch of Senriken, which we also featured in our list of the top five long-established coffee shops. This venerable establishment opened as a milk hall in 1914, back when Tsukiji was still the Nihonbashi fish market. While the menu is slightly different, it still features Senriken’s signature stews and egg sandwiches. Coffee 480yen/3.08USD
Coffee ice cream 450yen/2.89USD It’s refreshing with a slight bitterness, and its nostalgic flavor is truly exceptional. Our next stop is a renowned tempura restaurant, tucked away in a back alley just off the bustling tourist street. Savor the expertly prepared tempura, made by a chef who honed his skills at the Zennichin Hotel. While sushi is a must when visiting Tsukiji, the Edomae tempura comes highly recommended as well. The lunch menu features six types of tendon bowls, as well as a set menu that includes both a tendon bowl and tempura. In the evening, reservations are required, and you can enjoy a full course meal. There’s a wide selection of alcoholic beverages, including beer, sake, and wine. Beer 500yen/3.21USD All lunches come with pickles and clam soup. The pickles include pickled radish, nozawana greens, and daikon radish. The special tempura bowl has arrived.
Being in Tsukiji, not only are the ingredients top-quality, but Kurokawa’s batter is also incredibly delicious. The special tempura bowl 2000yen/12.84USD The sauce is delicious as well — a rich, dark sauce that has been perfected over time with repeated additions. This sauce is exquisite — once you try it, you’ll be hooked. Next, I tried the conger eel. It was cut into two pieces for easy eating.
The flesh was firm and incredibly delicious. This is the kakiage tempura bowl.
It’s generously drizzled with the rich, dark sauce as well. Kakiage tempura bowl 1500yen/9.63USD The kakiage was made with scallops and shrimp. The smooth sauce dribbled down from the kakiage. It’s packed with so many plump, magnificent scallops. Kakiage tempura bowls are truly addictive. So, what did you think of these five famous Tsukiji restaurants? If you thought they looked amazing, please give this video a high rating. I hope you enjoy Japan!
