A Local Took Me Jungle Cooking in Rural Nepal 🇳🇵

In this video, I experience authentic jungle cooking in rural Nepal, just outside Kathmandu. I travel 45 minutes east of Kathmandu to meet a local friend before heading deep into the mountains for a traditional outdoor cooking experience with locals.

We bring everything with us, including a tent, fresh ingredients, and cooking equipment, and set up in the forest surrounded by nature. The first step is building a fire, before cooking marinated pork on a hot stone placed directly over the flames. Simple, traditional, and full of flavour.

We sit together, eat, and drink tomba, a traditional Nepali alcoholic drink made by pouring hot water over fermented grains. It is a unique cultural experience you will only find in Nepal.

Next, we prepare a local snack similar to bhel puri using beaten rice and crispy ingredients, before finishing with a spicy chicken dish cooked over the fire.

This is real village life in Nepal, cooking with locals in the mountains and experiencing traditional Nepali food in the most authentic way possible.
