In this video, I will show you how to make very basic Inarizushi with plain Sushi rice. Easy yet delicious, perfect for party, picnic, or any kind of event!
Inarizushi (Inari Sushi) is Sushi rice stuffed in tasty Aburaage (Fried Tofu pouches).
In Japan, Inarizushi can be widely found at restaurants, supermarkets, conbini (convenience stores), and etc… Sometimes store-bought ones are too sweet but this one is very mild. Homemade is the best 😉

How to Make Basic Inarizushi
Difficulty: Easy
Time: 1hr + cooling time
Number of servings: 20 pieces
Ingredients:
660g (1.5lb.) cooked Japanese rice (short-grain rice)
A
* 3 tbsp. rice vinegar
* 3 tbsp. sugar
* 1 tsp. salt
10 square Aburaage (deep-fried tofu pouches)
B
* 4 tbsp. soy sauce
* 4 tbsp. Mirin (sweet Sake)
* 4 tbsp. sugar
* 400ml Dashi broth
4 tbsp. roasted white sesame seeds
Directions:
1. Place the Aburaage on a cutting board and trace the Aburaage with a chopstick to make it easy to open. Cut into half and open. If you are using square Aburaage (deep-fried tofu pouches) cut diagonally into half to get 2 right-angled triangles. If you are using rectangular Aburaage, cut into half to get 2 squares.
2. Put Aburaage in boiling water for a minute to remove the excess oil. Drain in a strainer and wash with warm water. Stack up 3-4 pieces at a time, then press with your hands to drain well.
3. Put B and Aburaage in a pot, then bring to a boil. Turn the heat down to low and cover with an Otoshibuta or a wooden drop-lid (you can substitute it with with a sheet of aluminum foil and use any small lid or a plate as a weight if needed) and simmer for 20 minutes. Stop the heat and let them cool completely for a few hours or overnight is OK.
4. Make Sushi vinegar by mixing A (or use store-bought Sushi vinegar). Add the Sushi vinegar while the rice is hot and slice through the rice using a rice paddle to separate the grains. Mix sesame seeds in the Sushi rice. Divide the rice into 20 equal portions. Wet your hands and make small balls of Sushi rice.
5, Take a piece of Aburaage and lightly press with your hand to remove the excess liquid. Stuff a ball of Sushi rice and close the pouch. *Please see the video for details.

Yum!
Your children are so cute! Can't wait to try this
It looks amazing! I love how you cook with your kids. They’re going to be great cooks like their mom 😀
Sounds like the perfect recipe for someone who doesn't like eating raw meat, like me.
It's funny how your son would rather eat with a spoon than with his bare hands. It's so much simpler to use your hands, and it requires less skill. ^^
Your kids are so adorable.
Loved seeing the kids helping out. 💜
Aaaa, your daughter and son are too cute! <3
I can do that! Thx sooo much!!! Love ur simple recipe!
1 of your children will be a great chef😊
My fave 💕💕💕😭 Thank you
I put Aburaage in almost all dishes at some point. Because it absorb broth well so I always make soy sauce udon with it.
I tend to use the pre-made aburaage packets because they're much easier to source locally. I'd like to try making it from scratch someday though.
YAAAAS I LOVE INARI THANK YOU 😀 <3
My favorite!!! Tysm 🥰

Hey, I haven't watched your videos for a while now, I was looking for a recipe and your channel popped on the search results. Just came to check for news stuff and was very happy that you're back and that your kids are helping too!!
Felt like meeting a long-time-no-see friend haha. Good to see you back and doing well!
Would it be possible to turn down the sound level for the ending of your videos?The children are either very loud or your microphone is turned up too high. I think that you are charming and I love your recipes, but I find myself avoiding your videos now because of the aural assault at the end.
Do you have a recipe to make those pouches yourself?
Since i cannot find them ANYWHERE in my country even in asian/japanese speciality stores they do not have them
Any storing advice?
I need to try this, I love inarizushi, but I will need to make my aburaague too. Thank you for the recipe, your kids are very cute.
Ochi!! I’ve always wanted to make inari sushi from my childhood favorite anime Chibi Maruko Chan 😊 I tried making it for the first time today & I was so proud of myself 😭💕 I topped mine with mentaiko & lemon beef slices that I saw in your lemon gyudon recipe 🤗💖thank you so much for sharing!!
Hey uhm i have a question, do you buy aburaage or you make it?
Show how to make the tofu pouch, the rest an idiot could do!
DEar Ochikeron, or anyone who is mindfully watching this video. First, thank you for your lovely tutorial and presentation. I have ONE VERY important Health observation and warning however. To apply aluminum foil as a cover instead of a lid, directly on the aburage releases harmful toxins into the food and water. Aluminum foil and cookware has already been linked to alzheimers' disease..which as you know adversely affects the brain over time, and the elderly are the ones in whom we see many cases. SO many people wrap everything in foil. Please Wake Up and stop using this, no matter how convenient it may be, for you and your childrens health. Thank you.
I'm just get bored with my normal recipes so I'm trying so many new Japanese recipes lately and enjoying your channel thank you!!
