The 1 ingredient auto-levels up any Rice Cooker One Pot Rice. Japanese Mushroom Sausage Rice.

Adding a touch of Gochujang wouldn’t make the rice too spicy but would increase the depth of flavour, setting it apart from typical one pot rice.

Ingredients (Serves 2) –

1 rice cooker cup Japanese rice
2 tsp soy sauce
1 tbsp mirin
1/2 tsp concentrated stock paste or chicken stock powder
1/3 tsp Gochujang
4 cloves garlic, minced
1/2 tsp grated ginger
Grounded black pepper, to taste
1 sausage (100g) cut into small pieces
6-8 white button mushrooms, quartered
80g carrot, diced
1 tbsp (14g) unsalted butter
Chopped spring onions, to taste
Toasted sesame seeds, to taste
Shredded seaweed, to taste

1. In the rice cooker, add washed rice, chicken stock powder, soy sauce, mirin and Gochujang. Add water amount reduced by about 10% and mix well.
2. Next add garlic, ginger, black pepper.
3. Add sausage, mushrooms and carrot.
4. Use usual rice cooking mode.
5. Once cooked, stir in butter and spring onions.
6. Garnish with toasted sesame seeds and seaweed to serve.
