Early Morning, October Warming up on the floor heating We were just talking about how hot it was, but lately it’s gotten much cooler all of a sudden. Looks like a new winter will arrive before I even put away my winter gear, haha How are things in your area? Please take care of yourselves, whether you’re dealing with the heat or the cold(´∀`) Such a hard lotus root… I startled Gon-chan who was right at my feet. Sorry, Gon-chan(>_<) He went over there(TдT) Alright, let's get back to it. I'm gonna make skulls out of lotus root. ...like, from here, or from here. It's for Halloween♪ Shave off the edges to get it closer to a skull shape. My little batch of scary cuties is ready for Halloween♪ Soak the rest in vinegar water to preserve them. And I'll use the chopped pieces for the meatballs tomorrow(*'v'*) Today, I'm not making the usual octopus sausages, I'm making octopus ghosts♪ When they heat up, the "arms" should open up like this. I'm making the rest into octopus sausages, and they're going straight to the freezer. The last item is the radish. I'm using a jack-o'-lantern shaped cutter to punch them out. I’m watching you… The main dish for today is chicken cutlets. I’m using chicken breast for a healthier option. Salt and pepper Let’s fry the lotus root skulls first. Dip them in the batter. Then, into the panko breadcrumbs. Gotta let 'em breathe. And these holes are perfect for grabbing with chopsticks lol Next up is the mozzarella cheese. And chicken katsu The last ones are the eggs I boiled yesterday. I'm scared of those eggs exploding. So quick deep-fry at high heat(/>_<)/ Enough! I forgot to film it, but I also fried the "octopus ghosts" and put them on skewers with cheese. To finish, I'm making Namul using carrots and purple cabbage for the Halloween colors🎃🧹 Soy sauce 1/2 tbsp, Chicken bouillon powder 1/2 tsp, Sesame oil 1.5 tbsp, Salt, Sesame Oh, I totally forgot to salt and rub

There’s always a place where you can shine. (In the yakisoba later 😋) Asparagus These tips are for the decor, and the rest is going into the yakisoba. The carrot is going to be a jack-o'-lantern. Yes, gointo the yakisoba. And the extra batch. First, stir-fry the veggies unseasoned to keep the moisture out. Isn't this too much?
I misjudged the quantity again... Anyway take them out once. Look! There are still some bean sprouts that couldn't fit... My portion control is always off( ̄∇ ̄;) Then stir-fry the pork. Salt and pepper minced ginger and garlic Powdered sauce mix that comes with the yakisoba kit. I'm making three servings, but I'll just use one packet now to pre-season the pork. Just a little bit more to go♪ When the noodles are loose, put in the other two packets of sauce mix and stir it all up. I added extra seasoning because of my chaotic veggie math( ̄∇ ̄;) Oyster sauce and Worcestershire sauce Nice crunch and fantastic flavor (*¯ч¯*) One final easy decor♪ Just fill them with the leftover mac salad from last night. Add the cheese, then bake it in the toaster until it browns. Blanch the asparagus and the jack-o'-lantern carrots. Yaksoba is not complete without onigiri. Pop quiz! Can you guess what I'm making? That's right! The answer was a little black cat, meow Whoops! Let’s create their faces using nori seaweed and sliced cheese. Pickled red ginger My last Halloween bento challenge is making Jack-o'-lanterns made from pie crust and sausages ♪ I've made mummy dogs several times with the same ingredients, but this is my first time trying the Jack-o'-lanterns. It's perfect in my head, but... I'm just hoping my skills don't betray me, ha Wrap the sausage with three strips of pie crust. Trim off the extra. Pretz(A Japanese savory pretzel stick) STAB! Pumpkin seed Hmm, does this pass as a pumpkin? I think better make a mummy dog ... you know, just in case the Jack-o'-lanterns don't work out. Brush on the egg yolk. My pastry brush is permanently missing. Bake in a preheated oven at 200°C (400°F) for 15 to 20 minutes. By the way, I found an induction-compatible sandwich maker and got it immediately(*´∀`*) I'm not making hot sandwiches today, I'm trying to grill sausages in it! Gotta get those perfect grill marks♪ Speech Bubble Egg Mold I totally forgot I even owned this. Boil eggs right next to it. Welcome back J...Jack-o'-lantern...? Looks more like a flower... right? Anyway the speech bubble egg is finished♪ But it's a bit too big for today's bento, so Iet's cut it in half. The weather has been unpredictable lately, the usual for Tennessee, USA. We have some cold nights and mornings, but the days were still summer warm until recently. I just looked at the forecast and the high temps are 50's and 60's Fahrenheit (10-15c) so maybe it is finally fall/autumn. 🤞My kiddo (7 but autistic) is struggling with the change in routine (jackets) but is still excited about Halloween. He plans to be a ghost. It all looked yummy, oiishi, I'm glad that you're having fun making these.

I will admit, I don't usually cook much meat at home (I eat a lot of eggs and tofu for protein), but you make chicken look so delicious and crispy that I had to go buy some from the store. Influenced by Miss Hanako!

your ability to decorate still leaves me amazed. When i try to cut thick things, I use the bottom, heavier part of the knife since it's thicker, and I just ease it down using weight rather than strength. If that makes sense.
My favorite part is that tabletop ironing board! What a great idea! I have a regular kind, and it does make getting sleeves done easier, since I can slip the sleeve onto the narrow end and do one side at a time. it'd be trickier with a tabletop board…. but it looks so convenient…
i had a good week! our heatwave hasn't hit yet (or did it…? was it milder?) and we've got the first of the winter rain, so we've got nice cool weather for halloween! im also happy because I got all my reading for my classics class done. We read the poetry of Sappho, the play The Bacchae by Euripidies, and Lysistrata by Aristophanes. I really love the translation we got for the last one, it was really funny! the poetry, even fragmented, was really beautiful. i felt so moved reading the lines we got. I'll give you one famous fragment.
"Sweet mother, I cannot weave –
slender Aphrodite has overcome me
with longing for a girl"
It makes me think of the ballad of hua mulan, also unable to weave due to her feelings. Of course, hua mulan was worried about her father going to war, but as sappho also wrote, it's not armies nor cavalry that are the most beautiful, but that which we love.

In life, chaotic veggie math is the only math I excel at. I never considered adding asparagus and peppers to my yakisoba, but I haven't been thinking creatively enough, clearly! Mac salad stuffed peppers also sounds like a delicious variation from meat and tomato rice. Yet another thing I want to try. Otsukare-sama, Hanako, and thank you for another fun-filled video!
