手作りオランデーズソースでBLTサンドイッチ

The initials “B.L.T” for the sandwich of the same name, come from the English “Bacon, Lettuce and Tomato”. In Japan, this dish gained popularity from the year 2011 onward, however, in the US. and England was already famous and habitually consumed long before. Today I’m making this sandwich with French bread, adding some homemade hollandaise sauce. Today I’d like to make a BLT sandwich. I’ll scald the tomato. I’ll make a superficial cut with a knife, and I’ll put it in boiling water. I’ll make homemade hollandaise sauce. First, I’ll warm the butter in a bowl. The tomato is ready. Among the varieties of lettuce that can be obtained in Paraguay, we have those that are similar to the Japanese ones, and the sunny lettuce or lollo rosso. We’ll use the latter. While the butter is dissolving, I’ll squeeze a lemon. I’ll make the hollandaise sauce first. I’ll start with the egg. It’s a fresh egg from today. It’s a very healthy egg. I’ll put only the yolk. I’ll add the lemon juice. I’ll add the salt the pepper, and I’ll mix well. I’ll see that the butter has melted well and take it out. I’ll heat this other mixture but with the stove off. I’ll add the butter little by little, like when I make mayonnaise. Let’s not put everything at once. We’ll make it emulsify. Mayonnaise is an essential part of the BLT sandwich, so figuring out what I could make with oil and butter, I came across hollandaise sauce, one of the 5 most important sauces in French food. I tried using it in the BLT sandwich and my family really liked it. If it seems that the temperature has decreased, turn on the stove for a while, and then turn it off again. More or less like this will be fine. I mix faster each time. I first came across the name BLT through an English teacher who came from the United States in 1986. He had commented me that in the menu of the American McDonalds there was the “Mac BLT”, which was extremely delicious. I wanted to try it, and that dream came true in 1988. When I went to learn English at a language institute in Berkeley, I almost always used to have Mac BLT as lunch. It was much larger than the Big Mac at McDonalds in Japan, and I was very full just by eating one. The butter-based hollandaise sauce is ready! Here we have 3kg of bacon. I’ll cut it. (Of course, I won’t use it all) It’s very heavy. I’ll remove the skin. I’ll go stretching and removing the skin. It can also be eaten with skin, but I’ll give it to Asuka, my dog. Last day, I saw YouTuber KOTA ISHIJIMA introduce the BLT sandwich on his channel. It brought me a lot of nostalgia, and I decided to introduce it on my channel as well. I was preparing the videos that I would upload to the channel until January, but I decided to include this video among those of December. I’ll leave a link to the video in the description, so please check it out. He explains his videos in English and Japanese. We’ll pass the bacon through water. We’ll fry them just a little. You can fry it to taste. You can fry it until it’s crispy, or also superficially. I’ll fry it to this point. I’ll take the bacon out of the pan. I’ll cut the French bread. I’ll cut it the same length as the bacon, one third. Then I’ll cut it in half to fill it up. I’ll cut the tomato I’ll fill it with the lettuce tomato… I’ll change the angle to show you better. I’ll put all the vegetables inside. Then I’ll add the bacon. I’ll put two strips of bacon in this larger loaf. I’ll put the hollandaise sauce on the sandwich. You can put karashi (mustard paste) on it, etc. as you like. Mustard. You can add mustard and ketchup to taste. The BLT sandwich is ready! See you in the next video!
