【赤しそ】梅干しだけでは勿体無い‼️ジュース作ってスカーフも染める🌿レシピ&染め方|循環する暮らし|草木染め VLOG

Hi everyone, this is Nami. This time, I’ll share how to make juice from the red shiso my mother grew, then, used the leftover to dye a scarf. Oh, it’s nice! Enjoy drinking it, enjoy dyeing it, and circulating the blessings of nature— that’s exactly what I strive for! Let’s get started! I’ll start with some prep work before dyeing This time, I used a 100% silk scarf First, soak the scarf in water for a while, then gently wash it with a neutral detergent, things like delicate laundry soap, dish soap, or shampoo. After washing, rinse it again with water now I’m going to make red shiso juice. I froze the red shiso leaves. I’ll transfer them to a pot Ingredients: Red shiso 300g, Water 2L
Sugar 800g, Citric acid 30g with 300g of red shiso leaves and 2L of water. This shiso is green on the front and red on the back, a rare variety. But regular red shiso is fine too 5 min. later After boiling for about 5 minutes, it looked like this. Simmer it over medium heat for another 15 minutes, (about 20 minutes in total.) Strain it The leftover shiso is for dyeing Hot! Add citric acid while it’s hot You’ll see the color brighten soon… Oh! Amazing!!! the color has changed! Normally, sugar goes in while it’s hot. But I let it cool, thinking I might use it for dyeing. But I didn’t So, later, I reheated it and added the sugar. Squeeze the leftover shiso really hard Save the drops for dyeing later No waste! Squeeze it all out!! Here’s what I got after squeezing Now, add citric acid about 1 teasppon Ah, it’s turned red. I added water to make more dye solution Now the dye solution is ready I’ll test-dye some yarn Leave it over night Good morning! Here’s the yarn I tested last night It didn’t dye at all It seems the yarn won’t dye without heat Let’s dye the scarf anyway 2 min. passed Wash it with water it’s already dyed!! What happens if I add citric acid here? Let’s add a bit Maybe it will brighten the color? Umm… maybe no Here’s what I got from the first dye Amazing!! Only 2 min. in the dye bath Pretty soft pink! Let’s it dry. Now fresh indigo dye while drying. It takes only 30 min from start to finish Finishing the shiso juice. First, dissolve the sugar (no need if the juice is hot enough) then add it to the juice. That completes the shiso juice The fragrance of shiso makes this work a joy What a wonderful morning! ♥️♥️♥️ The shiso juice: clear and bright. The dye solution: a bit cloudy since it’s leftover squeezed juice But that cloudiness gives a deeper color Clear juice makes nice color, but even the leftovers are worth dyeing Melted. Add it Okay, now the shiso juice is done. Shiso juice is tangy and refreshing, perfect for summer Now, the scarf is dry. Let’s put it on! Maybe adding a little more pink? Maybe! Into the dye bath as is, without wetting. to make a gradation Just soaked for 3 min. Let’s wash it Oops, a bit too dark? Citric acid seems to brighten the color, so I’ll add some here too Move it gently in the water [My mom: Hey Nami! Drink up these!!] [My friend: She is filming!] [Filming right now!] My friend tried it on for me while it was still wet Just a touch more pink, perhaps? Make it a bit darker Soak it for about 5 minutes. These are the drinks my mom told me to finish. “Drink them all!’ LOL” 5 minutes passed. Let’s rinse and check. Soak it in the citric acid water again. Wow! So pretty! It dyed so quickly! Have a three-level gradation Leave it for a few min. Alongside the shiso, dyeing with indigo too! This is the final result, though it’s still wet Ah, it so pretty~💗 Oh, it might look good. It might look good. It might look good. I can see you through it, wearing a head ribbon! Cute!! Time for shiso juice. Beautiful! What a huge pumpkin! The eggplant thorns are surprisingly painful! A huge cucumbers we forgot to harvest “I found one too!” Two big ones!! ,With the mask, gloves and glasses…. You look just like a thief!!! Just one day without harvesting, so many veggies grew! Thank you for watching💗 See you next time 👋
