It has been very hot lately. 🌞 I’m going back to my hometown for about a week starting tomorrow, so I’m going to tidy up my house today without letting the heat get to me! 🧹 Unlike me, who is exhausted by the heat every day, the plants are growing vigorously. 🌱 This summer feels hotter than usual, so when I go outside, I feel like my life is in danger…🫨 I will clean the ventilation fans in the bathroom and dressing room. 🫧 I remember that when I was in elementary school, my first task on the first day of summer vacation was to wash my indoor shoes. At that time, I would scrub my indoor shoes with a brush and hang them to dry on the stairs at the entrance. 💭 At that time, people were making a fuss about the maximum temperature reaching 35°C, but now 35°C is nothing unusual. 🤯 For three days in a row, when I wake up in the morning, the clock is off… 🕰️ I replaced the battery in this watch for the first time in three years. ◎ The hotter it is outside, the more delicious cold barley tea tastes. 💭 I’m going to make cold brew barley tea. On hot days, iced coffee tastes even better. 🤭 I am healed every day by the sound of melting ice. 🎐 In summer, there are more days when I don’t feel like doing anything, but I manage to keep going by rewarding myself with iced coffee. 😇 KOME is so cute today, so I’ll give her a treat. 😘 She always sleeps in cool places, so I wanted her to get some exercise, so I gave her a ball filled with snacks. 🤫 It’s debatable whether this counts as exercise…😂 Today’s lunch is pizza toast, which I’ve been wanting to eat lately. 🍕 Bake with ketchup, parsley sauce, green peppers, tomatoes, red onions, and plenty of cheese. ◎ This is okra and myoga onion soup! 🥣 Finally, garnish with parsley and it’s ready to serve! I was able to enjoy the atmosphere of a coffee shop, and it was a very satisfying lunch time! ☕️ Thank you for the delicious meal! Before going home for the holidays, I’ll use up the bananas that I won’t be able to finish eating to make banana chips for KOME. 🍌 First, slice the banana into 2mm thick slices. Arrange them on the top plate so that they do not overlap. ◎ Bake thoroughly in a 110°C oven for 60 minutes. I am making black sugar syrup with brown sugar that a friend gave me a long time ago, which I had stored away in the back of my cupboard. 💭 Today’s snack is warabi mochi. Mix water, beet sugar, and bracken starch well, then heat over low heat until transparent. I don’t know when that time will come, so I have to keep a close eye on this…👀 When the moisture has evaporated, transfer to a container and chill until solid. I made a large quantity of shiny warabi mochi! The black sugar syrup is also complete. ◎ The banana chips were also successfully completed. These are very sweet, simple banana chips. ◎ There’s a lot of these too! 😇 I’m going to take this home to MUGI as a souvenir! 🐶💭 KOME: “It smells sweet and nice! 👀” Place the firmly set warabi mochi on a plate. Sprinkle kinako (roasted soybean flour) and black sugar syrup on top, decorate with autumn leaves, and it’s ready to serve! Let’s eat it with barley tea. The plate I got from my partner is perfect for warabi mochi. 💫 I miss the transparent, round warabi mochi that was a staple snack during summer vacation at my grandmother’s house. 🤭 KOME seems to like these banana chips! 🐕 Sparkling warabi mochi and cold, fragrant barley tea… It was such a cool afternoon that I forgot all about the heat. Before returning to my hometown, I washed all of my futons. During this time of year, I sweat a lot while sleeping, and my futon dries quickly when I hang it out to air, so I end up washing my bedding frequently. 🧺🫧 Each time, my mind is reset, so it’s like killing two birds with one stone! 🕊️ Tonight’s dinner will be made using all the ingredients in the refrigerator before I return to my hometown. 🤫 First, prepare the butter soy sauce rice with corn and edamame. I seasoned it heavily with soy sauce, white dashi, sake, and salt. 😋 Today’s main dish is a salad with summer vegetables and cooled parboiled pork. ◎ Pork loin, cherry tomatoes, banana peppers, white eggplant, snap peas, mizuna, arugula, bean sprouts, and more! Once the pork loin has returned to room temperature, simmer it slowly in lukewarm water with dissolved beet sugar. After blanching the meat, let it cool at room temperature, then place it in the refrigerator for about 10 minutes just before eating. ◎ Cook the white eggplant over low heat until it becomes soft and creamy. 🍆 The salad dressing is made with white onions, fermented garlic seasoning, rice vinegar, soy sauce, mirin, lemon juice, honey, and black pepper. 🍋🐝 My partner has come home. 🏠 KOME is adorable because she prioritizes greeting her owner over snacks. 😂 Make a delicious soup using the broth from boiling pork. Remove the scum from the soup, add enoki mushrooms and okra, and season with salted malt, cardamom, nutmeg, coriander, and black pepper! Mix the bitter melon and green beans with sesame oil, ponzu sauce, salted kelp, and white sesame seeds. ◎ I also found some tokoroten in the back of the refrigerator and added it to the dish, completing this luxurious side dish! 😂 Finally, let’s plate the salad. 🥗 I used all the vegetables I had in the refrigerator, and ended up with an enormous dinner! 🤫💫 The rice is golden brown and perfectly cooked! 💭 Finally, add butter and enjoy! It’s delicious! I ate a lot and built up my stamina, so I think I’ll be able to return to my hometown full of energy! 🤭🔥 Thank you for the delicious meal! I’ve been so busy that I haven’t made any plans, so I hope I can relax and enjoy summer in my hometown! 🌻🍃 I have to hurry up and get ready to go back to my hometown! Every day is unbearably hot, but I’m sure that when summer ends, I’ll feel sad that summer is over. I totally understand the hot temperatures. Thankfully in August, even though it’s hot during the day, the nights are cooler. I grew up making little pizzas with English muffins. I’m going to try your version. The enrichment toy counts as exercise. KOME is moving around a bit. I always enjoy your videos. It’s like visiting a friend.
