I received some asparagus from work. My former boss, who was transferred to the Sapporo branch, sent it to everyone in my department. It’s Hokkaido asparagus, so I imagine it’s sweet and delicious. I’ll store the leftovers in the vegetable compartment with some wet paper towels. Today , I’m planning to make shrimp and asparagus cream pasta with mentaiko. To avoid cluttering the freezer, I’ll swap them out. This is a product called Stasher, a reusable storage bag. It’s dishwasher safe. The asparagus has tough strings at the base, so I peel them with a peeler. Slicing them diagonally will improve both the cooking time and appearance. ☺️ Thinly slice the garlic. Olive oil + garlic. Stir-fry the thawed shrimp, and remove them once lightly cooked. Don’t let the shrimp get too tough. 🥺 Add 150ml water and 200ml milk. Add 100g of noodles and boil for the recommended time. Meanwhile, make a side dish. I have a lot of carrots and bell peppers, so I’m going to make a carrot and bell pepper stir-fry with tuna and bonito flakes. I push the stems all the way down ✨ This is fun 🤣. The seeds are edible, so even if some are still attached, I’ll just cook them as is. I stir- fry them in sesame oil. I stir the pasta occasionally, and add the asparagus when there are 5 minutes left. Stirring them in a frying pan brings out the sesame oil and tuna’s aroma, creating a rich flavor and aroma that’s completely different from microwaving them. With 2 minutes left, I add the shrimp back in and season with salt and pepper. Mentaiko. When I’m lazy, I just add them in as is, but if you want a more beautiful dish, I recommend removing the flesh from the skin before using it 😂. I add a little grated cheese to add more depth! It enhances the lightness of the milk with a mellow, deep flavor. I also make a ton of side dishes. Even making this much is easy, even for a single person, and it disappears in no time 😋. I add some bonito flakes and it’s finished. This is for today’s meal! Finish with black pepper. Let’s have some kimchi too. Thank you for always waiting patiently, I love you 🥹🩷. Let’s start with the side dishes. Delicious!! The sweetness of the carrots and the bitterness of the bell peppers are perfectly balanced, and the tuna brings everything together, so I can’t stop eating. Shrimp and asparagus mentaiko cream pasta. This one was also delicious 🤤. The cream sauce, made with milk, isn’t too heavy, but it’s satisfying 🤭. The mentaiko cream clings well to the noodles, making it rich and delicious! The asparagus is crisp and sweet, and the shrimp is plump—it’s just delicious in my mouth 😚. I ate a delicious meal today, and thank you for the treat. Let me introduce a recent purchase. This is a handheld fan that can be attached to a parasol. I bought this because my hands are full when I commute to work, carrying both a parasol and a handheld fan. It has a clip, so I can just snap it in place, and it’s more compact and light than I expected! Sasuke 🐱 was intrigued. It ‘s USB rechargeable and has three wind speed settings. So cool, so refreshing! 😍 This is the parasol I bought this year. It’s suitable for both sun and rain, and offers 100% shading and UV protection! Let’s try installing a handheld fan, a summer necessity! Wow. It looks a little surreal, but 🤣 I have a feeling I’ll be using it this summer. I ‘ve just finished work. I’m using the handheld fan I received right away! ✨ Just the breeze makes a huge difference. Today, I came for dinner with a colleague after work. It’s become a favorite lately, and we go there about once a month. Our second drink is always sake! 🍶. Cheers! Today, we went to Minamimaru, but the main branch is my favorite. They serve delicious seafood and tempura, but their signature tuna futomaki is truly delicious, and that’s what I’m looking forward to. The tuna is so sweet and melt-in-your-mouth delicious, it goes incredibly well with the sake. I’ll never forget the futomaki I had that time. 🤭🩷 If you’re looking for great value tuna and alcohol in Nagoya Station, I recommend Pichiten. It’s been a while since I’ve introduced an izakaya 😚, so please give it a try! I’m cooking dinner after work. I received a lot of cucumbers as a gift, so I’ll start with a refreshing recipe for using up a lot! I’ll make a vinegared dish of cucumber, wakame seaweed, and tuna, which is refreshing even in the hot summer. The tuna provides protein, and the wakame seaweed provides minerals 💪. Cucumbers are rich in water and potassium, so they help prevent summer fatigue. Lightly rub in salt and let it sit for a while to release the moisture. Soak dried wakame seaweed in water. 2-3 tablespoons vinegar, soy sauce, and 1 teaspoon sugar. I like it sour, so I use about 3 tablespoons of vinegar 🤭. If you prefer a sweeter dish, increase the sugar to about 1 tablespoon. I love wakame seaweed, so even if I soak a lot, it disappears quickly 😂. Squeeze the cucumber thoroughly, and finally, add the canned tuna with the oil and white sesame seeds and toss to finish. I also love adding mayonnaise to this recipe; it adds a mellow, rich flavor that even children will find palatable. Sesame oil. Today’s main dish is pork, kimchi, and cheese kimbap. Season the pork belly with salt and pepper and sauté until fragrant. Chop the kimchi into small pieces and place half in a bowl, then add the other half to the pork belly and stir-fry! It tastes even better when stir-fried. Add 1/2 teaspoon each of gochujang and sesame oil and mix. Add about a bowl of white rice and mix. The amount of gochujang and kimchi is up to you; the more you use, the darker the color of the rice. I only had rectangular pieces of nori seaweed, so I used rice to hold it together. I was really in the mood for kimbap today. I didn’t use the regular kind, but the kind with stretchy cheese 🥺🧀. While classic kimbap , made with melted cheese rolled up and topped with beef and namul, requires a lot of chopping and steps, like chopping vegetables, pork, kimchi, and cheese kimbap requires fewer ingredients and a simpler process, making it a fun dish to make even on weekdays. 🤣 Leave the rolls facing down. Add some protein with tofu, and top with homemade nametake mushrooms. Finally, heat at 600W for 2 minutes until the cheese is melted and ready. Done! The cheese is melted, piping hot, and delicious! 🤤 I brushed sesame oil on the surface of the nori seaweed and topped it with white sesame seeds. Let’s eat. Delicious! 🤤. The combination of kimchi and pork is a sure thing, but adding melted cheese is just too spicy. It’s spicy, but the cheese mellows it out nicely, so it’s not too spicy. The vinegared wakame seaweed, tuna, and cucumber dish is refreshing and delicious! I’ll post the nametake mushroom recipe here. Halved enoki mushrooms, 3 tablespoons each of soy sauce and mirin, 2 tablespoons each of sake, 1 tablespoon of sugar, 1 teaspoon each of vinegar and Hondashi. Simply add all the ingredients to a frying pan and simmer until the liquid is gone. The slightly sweet flavor of kimbap complements the tartness of the kimchi and the savory meat perfectly. Since I cut my hair a little shorter, I’ve been obsessed with flipping it outwards. I recently bought a -7°C cooling hoodie. I work in an office, so I usually only get sun exposure on my commute. It’s a pain to have to apply sunscreen to my arms every morning for a few minutes… I bought this cooling hoodie because it also has UV protection. It feels so cool when it touches my skin. Let’s get through the hot summer with this! Okay, off I go. After lunch, it’s time for a break~☕️ My colleagues are sleeping. I’ll drink my favorite cafe latte and work hard in the afternoon. I refresh myself by watching Amazon Prime during my short lunch break. I’m making dinner using some frozen ground pork. I’ve been trying to make the perfect dry dandan noodles, and I’ve tried several times. I finally got it right the other day, so I’d like to share it on YouTube today! I posted this on my Instagram story the other day. This is it. These dry dandan noodles taste just like they’d come from a restaurant! 😋 (I’m bragging). There are a few condiments I don’t use often, but you can make it without them. The only ingredient in this recipe is sesame paste. It’s so delicious, I highly recommend you try it! 1.5 tablespoons sesame paste, 1 tablespoon soy sauce, 2 teaspoons vinegar, 1 tablespoon chili oil . This is hua jiao. It’s optional, but adding it makes it closer to authentic Chinese cuisine. I bought the pepper mill for grinding at the 100-yen shop. This is hua jiao. Sasuke yawning. Finally, add a grated clove of garlic. The sauce is now complete! Last time I made this with regular udon noodles, but I wanted to try making it with knife-cut noodles, so I bought some. They were hard to find at my local supermarket, so I finally got them at Kitano Ace. Sesame oil . 80-100g thawed minced pork + salt and pepper. Browning the ground meat without breaking it up too much locks in the flavor, making it delicious. 2 teaspoons doubanjiang and 1 teaspoon sweet bean paste. Sweet bean paste and doubanjiang enhance their aroma and richness when heated in oil. 🔥 If you don’t have doubanjiang, try substituting miso or gochujang and soy sauce. I need to hurry up with this dish. I’m waiting here, bored. Boil the knife-cut noodles for the time indicated on the package. I’m so excited to try the chewy, flat noodles!! When the ground meat is about 80% cooked, add the bean sprouts and stir-fry. I prefer a crispy texture, so I stir-fry for 30 seconds to 1 minute. Add the boiled noodles to the frying pan and stir-fry. Add the combined seasonings made earlier and stir-fry further. The aroma is already amazing at this point. Top with minced meat and bean sprouts, the remaining combined seasonings, and radish sprouts. Finally, add Hua Jiao to complete the dish. Ah, so delicious!! Phew, finally, time for dinner. The spicy, rich, dry dandan noodles are perfectly complemented by the refreshing taste of beer. Put on your favorite TV show…🥺Beer is such a joy🥺🩷. Let’s eat. So delicious🤤 The chewy noodles are coated in a rich, spicy sauce! The punchy minced meat and the crunchy bean sprouts are a perfect match. The beer is a perfect match. The numbing aftertaste of the Sichuan peppercorns is addictive. It truly tastes like something straight from a restaurant! This is our biggest hit recently. Today I made knife-cut noodles, but regular udon noodles are delicious, too . I’m also fine with curly noodles or whatever your favorite noodles are. I started watching “Marry My Husband,” which was recommended to me in a YouTube comment, and I’m hooked! 😂 I binge-watched the Japanese version in about two days, and now I’m slowly starting to watch the Korean version. Thank you for the meal. Finally, a little about Hida Takayama, where I visited over the weekend. My grandmother lives there, and it’s a place I’ve loved visiting every year since I was a child. It’s my favorite shop. They have a wide selection of cutting boards made from Hida wood. Maybe I’ll buy one here when it’s time to replace my cutting board? The second and third floors are furniture departments. There ‘s so much beautiful furniture! 🥺 My dream is to one day buy a dining table made from a solid piece of Hida wood. There’s also a lot of cute cutlery. Perfect for cold soba noodles and salads! 🥗 So cute. These potholders are so cute. I haven’t bought any new tableware in a while, so I’d like to buy some. After leaving Takumikan, I walked around the old townscape. I was attracted by the large freshly baked rice crackers and decided to try one. It was delicious but I was full. Finally, I stopped by the supermarket on my way home. It’s the soul food of Hida Takayama. My whole family has loved it for a long time! I recommend it.
