This is a very simple way to make Japanese cream stew from scratch. Using organic ingredients will make it very healthy 😉

It may slightly separate if you use pure soy milk, so use the processed one if you want a smoother texture!

Vegetarian people can skip the meat 🙂

Organic Soy Milk Cream Stew

Difficulty: Easy
Time: 30min
Number of servings: 4

Ingredients:
300g (10.6oz.) chicken breast w/o skin
1/2 (150g=5.3oz.) carrot
1 (200g=7oz.) onion
1~2 (300g=10.6oz.) potato
300ml water
consomme cube (or bouillon cube) to make 300ml soup
1 bay leaf
200ml soy milk or milk
1 tbsp. potato or corn starch & 1 tbsp. water
salt and pepper
parsley flakes *if you like

Directions:
1. Remove the skin, cut the chicken into bite-size pieces, then season with salt and pepper.
2. Cut potato and carrot into bite-size pieces. Cut onion into wedges.
3. Place water, consomme cube (crushed), and bay leaf in a pot. Put on the heat, when the consomme cube has dissolved, add the vegetables (2.), cover, and cook on medium for 10 minutes.
4. When the vegetables are cooked, add the chicken, cover, and cook on medium for another 5 minutes. *remove the foam if necessary
5. Add soy milk and cook until warm. Season with salt and pepper. Then stop the heat, mix in potato or corn starch mixed with water, then heat until the soup thickens.
6. Serve in a dish and sprinkle with parsley flakes if you like.

  3. I just made this but I was really impatient so I burnt my tongue!! I can't even taste it properly now ´A` but I'll still eat it!

  4. Made this today! It was surprisingly good! Instead of just soy milk, however, I added coconut milk AND soy milk. I'm not a fan of stew, but it was good! 😀

  5. Do you think it would be possible to do it with Imitation Crab or Fresh Crab? Because, I might try it with that instead of Chicken.

  6. made this.. added fresh turmeric and tofu with a curry bouillon.. delicious!! (next time i try yours exactly!!) 😀

  7. Made this today with my cousins – it was very yummy but we must've cut too many vegetables because the amount of water in recipe was not enough to cover veggies so we just added more by eye.  It is very easy and good tasting. Thanks!

  8. Hello:-) could I know where can I buy those containers of salt and pepper in japan? I am from Hong Kong and I am looking for this kind of container. I am going to visit japan next week and I hope I can buy them back

  9. This dish is sooooooo delicious!! I make it for my family all the time and they LOVE it! It's so light and yummy! Thank you so much for sharing! ^_^

  10. I am currently pregnant and when I saw this recipe, I instantly had a craving to make it. But I do not like cooked carrots, and in my pregnancy I found that my stomach doesn't feel right after eating cooked carrots either.
Could I remove or substitute it with another vegetable, like broccoli, cucumber or cherry tomatoes?

  11. Seriously! I need to make these recipes. THESE LOOKS so great to eat! I bet I will still watch u when I grow up. (I need some cooking tips >.')

  12. I make this once a week, all thanks to you! <3 My husband and 2 sons LOVE it! This recipe works when we run low on ingredients but still want a hearty dinner. Thank you for sharing!

  13. Made this soup last night without chicken and instead of soy I used unsweetened almond milk and added green onions on top! And made jasmine brown rice to put on the plate before I add the stew on top! & OMG it was amazingggg I'm so happy I found this recipe and can make it vegan!!

  14. I added sweet potato to mine and it tasted blah, the sauce and normal potatoes were good, so next time I'll make it without sweet potatoes and carrots. Maybe I'll add mushrooms. I couldn't stand the sweet taste of mine, but otherwise it was good.

  15. Your youtube channel is literally like cooking mama! 🙂 The steps are very clear and easy to follow, and your setup is so nice and organized.

  16. I made this tonight, but cut the portion in half so I had enough for just me! It turned out super yummy! Thank you for the great recipe Ochi-chan!! (´^∀^`)

  17. I tried this and its soooo yummy and creamy and I usually don’t eat any stews or soup especially cause I hate milk

  18. This is delicious with toasted sourdough bread spread with cream cheese. I am actually making this tonight which is what brought me to this video.
