Noreen’s Kitchen: How to Make Chicken Sausage and Peppers
[Music] [Music] I’m Mar and welcome to my kitchen with another episode of what’s for dinner tonight I’ve got a really quick and easy week night meal and really it could qualify a sandwich night we’re going to make pepper and sausage sandwiches and because I do have a really Rich Italian Heritage and the dog really wants a piece of that sausage um I this is not a traditional uh sausage and peppers but it’s kind of my take on sausage and peppers for tonight using what I had in the house and using a new product um Johnsonville has come out with a chicken sausage and I thought I’d give it a try tonight so this is what we’re going to have I’m using and there’s I’m using this Johnsonville chicken sausage with cheese red bell pepper and garlic and I got to tell you it is really amazingly delicious um just sliced up right out of the package it’s really good um I took a bag of wouldn’t know and not going to know I took a bag of my frozen Peppers out of the freezer and I cut up two onions I’m going to throw in some garlic and um we had a little bit of just pasta with sauce the other night because we were hungry and after we’d had a late lunch so we had a late snack um I’m going to toss the rest of this sauce in there just to give it a little sauciness and then we’re going to have that on these um rolls so that’s what dinner’s going to be and really you’ve got everything you’ve got your vegetable you’ve got your starch you’ve got your protein and um really that’s that’s a home meal right there you you sit down and and enjoy that um after a busy day and then at some point we’re going to show you what the living room looks like because it looks incredible we are done right mhm we are done and maybe maybe later we’ll take you in there and show you what it looks like right okay excellent okay so what I have over here in my um deep Skillet is just about a little over a tablespoon of olive oil in there and it’s heating up and I’m going to go ahead and going to grab a wooden spoon I’m going to toss my garlic in and I usually tell you to toss your onions in first but I’ve got my onions and my peppers in that bowl together and the peppers are frozen I don’t want to cool the pan off that much but I do want to flavor this oil see and at this point I’ll go ahead and put all these vegetables in there get those going there is no need to thaw those Peppers out they are going to be just fine did I steam the lens whoopsie I have this over a medium high heat garlic didn’t burn no that garlic did not burn just right now I’m going to turn the heat up just a little and what I’m going to do is I’m going to go for just a few minutes I’m going to let these steam I’m going to put the lid on it I’m and let these steam a little and get all soft and going and then I’m going to take the lid on off and then I’m going to throw the sausage in there and I’ll come back when it’s time to do that he we let these steams still so I could get that frozen off of the peppers so we let them thaw a bit and I took the lid off and they’ve been sautéing here and now I’m just going to toss in these pieces of sliced chicken sausage and we’re going to want these to heat through that sausage is already cooked so and I have tell you everybody who’s walked by it has taken a piece of it and just is raving about how delicious it is so I’m going to go ahead and toss in the remainder of this jar of sausage there’s less than half of a jar there but you don’t want a whole lot you just want a little bit of moisture in there just enough to coat everything nicely and then you know when you put it on that bun it’s going to be nice and juicy but not so juicy that it’s going to drip all over you see there’s not even anything running in the bottom of the pan it’s just kind of coating everything that’s that’s just how you want it so what we’re going to do now is again we’re going to let this kind of simmer for 5 minutes and then we’re going to come back and we’re going to fix you a plate and we’re going to make you a sausage and chick chicken sausage and onion and pepper sandwich so I’ll be back what okay here we are our living room is done I just wanted to give you guys a little bit of a look we cleared out this corner so you could see it um there’s the floor and Rick did a phenomenal job um we replaced all the registers and then um we had existing floor baseboards rather and then we added to it so that we didn’t have to undercut the baseboard to install the flooring we did not remove the baseboard I thought that was way too much work so we just made our baseboard more decorative and we added some lattice slat to it and we added uh shoe a shoe a quarter round shoe molding so that is uh that is what we did and I shouldn’t say we because Rick did all the work and I’ll show you the hallway and all he has to do in here is the um the little pieces that go in front of the doors cuz he’s going to have to cope them out and um then we we’ll be finished I’m so excited now we get to concentrate on getting ready for Christmas and moving some of our stuff back in so did you show paint from Top botom oh I’ll show you paint from top to bottom I don’t know how well you can see that because on this monitor it’s not looking very nice but the Flor he did the ceiling and he did we painted it together but the floor he pretty much did all by himself but um the green is just such a refreshing change to what we had in here and I’m really pleased with how it turned out now I get to do window treatments and and new tablecloths for my end tables and we’ll be good to go so there you have it there’s a little look at what we’ve been doing I hope you like it now let’s go check dinner okay we’re simmering away and we’re ready to make a sandwich and I don’t know about you but I think that looks fantastic and I have to tell you this sausage is great and there’s a little bit of cheese in there so when it got hot it got on the bottom of the pan and that kind of got a little sticky but no worries as my pans cool down that’s going to be easy to wipe off it won’t be any problem all right now let me get a plate get a Clean Plate over here I already split the rolls so it would be time to easy to just make the sandwiches and what I’m going to do is I’m going to scoop out a little of this bread that’s inside the roll just like this this helps it to um kind of sit in the sandwich okay now look at that doesn’t that look great there chips the computer do hey one of you girls get me the bag of chips the Friday one yeah the Friday chips and you can add a little mazzarella cheese on top if you want or some Parmesan add a handful of chips on the side you can turn it off there you go dinner is served my take on Italian sausage and peppers on a nice Italian sub roll using the Johnsonville chicken sausage with the cheese red pepper and garlic I hope you try this I sure think it was an easy answer to to a busy week night meal and I hope you enjoy it and until next time I’ll see you [Music]
Greetings! Tonight is sandwich night and I decided to try out the new Johnsonville Chicken Sausages. They are amazing! I also decided to make them like Italian Style peppers and sausage. I used some of my frozen fresh bell peppers, onions, garlic and these wonderful sausages, sliced up. Sauteed everything in a skillet and served them on soft Italian rolls. Everything for a balanced meal in right there!
These are perfect for a weeknight meal, its quick and simple. I hope you try this and I hope you enjoy it. As always, Happy Eating!

Your room looks great !
The living room looks wonderful! Like someone else stated, I think the sausage and peppers would be great on rice. Gonna have to try them out. 🙂 thanks for sharing!!
You have a beautiful home. Great work. Now, to make some of those sandwiches! 😀 Noreen, talk about you all the time. For a church social I made "your" cold platter and put "your" pimento cheese in the middle. It was a great hit! I gave away my secrets and told them about you.
Good job Rick! That's allot of work, along with painting, thanksgiving, videos, Christmas prep…Phewwey! I love the sanwich idea,YUM!

What a pretty room. I LOVE the color green. It's such a fresh color. Enjoy your new room and have fun decorating it. 🙂
Looks good!
The house looks amazing, Noreen. Awesome work, Rick! Also, thanks for the yummy recipe. 🙂
looking good! as is the food! X
Would you mind showing us you trying it, and letting us now what it tastes like? I feel more apt to making something if i know what it tastes like. If you wouldn't mind of course some people don't like to eat things on camera.
@Nannerchan Unfortunately, this project nearly killed him (not really but it did a number on him) With his MS it was a challenge, but he does not like to behave like he has limitations. As for the animals, we have 3 dogs, 11 cats 3 fish and a water turtle. Someday I want a Maine Coon! They are awesome. I have one cat who looks like she could be part coon. I also want a Daschund. I also want a Rhinoceros for Christmas. ; )
looks great!
🙂
The floors and the walls looks very nice. I like the green colors. I have to try this meal. Saw those chicken sausages the other day and now I have a good idea to try them for dinner.
Noreen I have to tell you that I'm absolutely addicted to your videos! You've inspired me to start making some more cooking videos of my own as I haven't made one in a while 🙂 I don't always manage to find all the ingredients I need when following your recipes as I'm in England, but I think I get close and I love them all!
wish youtube would invent smell-a-vision that looks scrumptious

OK, I admit it, I cheated and looked at the living room first, I just couldn't wait any longer. It's UNBELIEVEABLE! Rivk, your the man! It's a gorgeous job. and the paint, I GOTTA know the brand and the colors. I have looked for that green for 3 months now, and that's the one I want. Just Gorgeous! I'm so excited for you. Great Job!
