This is how the iconic Tuna Melt was invented 😳

    Yields about 3 Sandwiches

    Ingredients:

    (3) 5oz Cans of Tuna Fish (drained)
    1/4 Cup Celery (finely diced)
    1 Shallot (finely diced)
2 Tbsp Pepperoncini Peppers (finely diced)
    1 Tsp Dill (chopped)
1 Tbsp Fresh Italian Parsley (chopped)
    1 Tsp Garlic Powder
    1 Tsp Pepper
    1 Tsp Dijon Mustard
1 Tbsp Freshly Squeezed Lemon Juice
1/4 Cup Mayonnaise (or your desired amount)
    Tomato Slices
Tuscan Bread (or any bread of your choice)
    Fontina Cheese (hand grated)

    Instructions:

    1. In a medium bowl, mix tuna, mayonnaise, dijon mustard, shallots, celery, dill, parsley, pepperoncinis, garlic powder, lemon juice and black pepper together.

    2. Lightly oil or butter one side of bread and place oiled or buttered side down in a large pan on medium heat.

    3. Divide the tuna mixture evenly on the the bread, spreading it to the edges and lay two tomato slices onto the tuna.

    4. Sprinkle shredded cheese evenly over the tuna and tomatoes.

    5. Lay the second slice of bread over top of the cheese, tomato and tuna mixture and lightly oil the top slice of bread. If you are using butter, I would suggest buttering the top second slice first before you lay it down onto the mixture.

    6. Lay the sandwich or burger press down on top of the sandwich and cook until the bread browns on the bottom side. You may need to lift the tuna melt up to make sure the bread doesn’t burn. TIP: You don’t necessarily need this sandwich press. You can use another kitchen item or nothing at all. This just helps to press everything together tightly.

    7. Once the bottom of the bread is toasted enough for your liking, flip the melt and lay the press down again until the other side is toasted enough and the cheese has melted.

    Serve and enjoy!

    1. “You probably have all these ingredients in your house” then proceeds to pull out some cheese I ain’t never heard of lmao

    2. My work is across the street from a diner that makes the best tuna melts. Only thing I miss now that I am working remotely now.

    3. Tuna melts are one of my top 3 favorite sandwiches, next to a philly cheesesteak and a pastrami on rye with russian dressing and slaw.

    4. I hate fish and the smell of fish. I can eat tuna in a dip with mayonnaise, shredded cheese, and dill w ritz crackers. The thought of steaming hot tuna and bread together tho? It makes me cringe 😭 not hating on anyone that loves this fish or this sandwich tho lmao.
