Best Ways to Cook Fish

Hey, everyone. Chef Ben here from Giant Eagle and today I’m here to share with you some of my favorite cooking
techniques for fresh fish fillets. Now here at Giant Eagle, we have an ocean’s bounty
of different seafood for you to choose from. And there’s a proper cooking technique for
each one of those different types of fish. First, let’s talk about firmer fish
such as swordfish, sea bass and tuna. These fish are great for grilling. It’s important to cook your fish thoroughly, so use a meat thermometer
to cook fish to 145 degrees. The next type of fish would
be your salmon or halibut. These fish are great for
pan-searing or, my favorite, baking. The third type of fish would
be your mild flaky fish. This would be flounder, tilapia and cod. I prefer to cook these fish in a saute pan. One tip is to not overcrowd your pan. Make sure you use one piece for a small pan or maybe two or three pieces for a larger pan. Now that I’ve shared my three
favorite ways to cook fish, check out Giant Eagle’s Seafood Department for our wide variety of fish and seafood And for more recipe ideas and

Fish can be finicky. Knowing the best way to cook the type of fish you’re having can make all the difference in how good it tastes. Master three easy techniques for cooking fish in a couple of minutes with help from our resident expert, Chef Ben.

There are a lot of fish in the sea, and almost as many ways to cook them. How do you know which way to cook the fish you have? Or, if you’re set on a certain cooking style, how do you decide which type of fish to use? The last thing you want to do is overcook the tender, flaky and thin fish or undercook thicker, steak-size fillets you’re having for dinner.

After watching Chef Ben’s quick tutorial, you’ll have all the answers to:
