29:04 Not just any athletic stadium, but "Merdeka Stadium". It is a historical site where Tunku Abdul Rahman, Malaysia's first Prime Minister, declared "Merdeka!" , the official proclamation of independence for the Federation of Malaya from British colonial rule in 31 August, 1957. The stadium has been totally restored to how it was originally back in 1957 a couple of years back.
may be next time do it from ground up ,then put a good top on. hmm good luck with the one you have now my friends.
On behalf of Malaysia, I would like to apologise on how the camper turned out. They failed to deliver, just big talks.
Adoi laa hai
Hi guys!👋 Things are moving along, and before you know it, you'll be hitting the roads, just a few bumps, and I'm sure you'll figure them out!!! I just have to say that the view off of your balcony looks like a beautiful postcard picture absolutely lovely!!!!!!! Thanks for sharing 👍 Cheers 🍻 👏 ✌️ 👍
Funny design…
The reverse image on the rear view camera can normally be changed in the settings. Trevor is looking good!
Both of you are very brave to have a camper van built in Malaysia, by Malaysians. They seem to be inexperienced. I worked and lived there for years. Knowing their ways of doing things and work ethic, I would be very reluctant to do so. The stress of dealing with these people isn’t worth it.
You may need to measure the height of trevor again, as the new suspension and tyres may have increased the height. 🤔
The image on the electronic rear view mirror can be flipped. Usually you have to cut one wire (it's meant to be cut). Sometime you just need to just toggle the setting in the software.
Weekend shouldnt be a problem for the biometric thing if you use a registered "runner" service. The runner have the authority to come to Sham's place 24/7, collect his fingerprint, then he'd go to your place 24/7, and voila, it's done. However that would costs about RM300-RM500 extra. Worth the expenses I'd say, because i hate going to JPJ offices.
I love love love Marianne…she’s so funny.👍🏾🫶🏽🙏🏾🇬🇧
The camper V shop could have done a really good build and get more Malaysians to trust them. But now it seems like they won't be around for much longer. So unsatisfied with what they did and most of the materials look cheap and not weatherproof I doubt it will last a year. Suggest you to do a road trip to Thailand and get things done before Trevor goes into a container.
Not sure why you ask Malaysian to build you truck camp, they are not professional either way. Malaysia are not popular with truck camp😅
hi sir.. Beer and after that durian. You are so lucky to be alive.
Aduhh abg Sham. Negatif komen ni.
What kind off truck cab and body is this? Why are you having this done in Malaysia? Hope you are saving alot of money, but you get what you pay for. Do these people know what they are doing? How did you find these guys, did someone you trust refer you to them?
Reversed mirror can be adjusted at the player settings
i might install a winch on the front just incase you stuck on the mud offroad if you have extra budget…
What if it got stuck in the up position?
29:43 Why can't you eat anytime you want? You are Muslim? Like the UK, Malaysia was mostly Catholic/Christian not that longs ago… sad.
Love how you handle the problems you encounter. "It is what it is" and "I just sleep in a tent".
Very unfortunate that you have to face the problems because of the inefficient builder. Malaysia has the capability to do a great job, but you have to find the right people. Not all Malaysians are equally skilled. I have lived there before and I would trust the Malaysian Chinese people with any kind of comprehensive work. Hope you will be able to resolve the issues somewhere else.
That camper is cool and its right hand drive the correct side.. So get a truck built in Malaysia get it shipped back to UK. How much did it cost all in? Thanks looking forward to future trips
I can feel your disappointment. I would have taken the car to South Africa for the build and camper conversion. They have years of R&D and know what works for overlanders probably at a fraction of the cost. We also only realised about this during our 8 months of overlanding experience in Africa. Malaysia is still an infant to camper build especially the pop up version and many things are trial and error. Hope you get the final drawings of the camper build including the electricals as reference which would be handy for future improvements to Trevor. All the best and safe travels for your NZ expedition.
As I see it, this truck to truck/camper conversion was a disaster, but somehow now you must live with it. Also, less is more, so pack lighter. Maybe you need a trailer now? I feel bad for you both.
Guys love the channel and the fact your not sitting on your asses doing absolute nothing, built a few truck campers out here in SEA and I’m genuinely worried about your build, everything from fixed cabin to the lack of ventilation, it gets seriously hot out here and there’s not a mobile AC unit available that will cope with the design of the cabin. Hope you guys prove me wrong, power on 🙏🏼
You’ve got this, guys. There’s no such thing as the perfect camper. Every van is a compromise. You’ve got a good Toyota hilux cab. and more importantly, the balls to do it in the first place. Everything else will fall into place as you go. Nobody knows this more than you. Keep on treading 💪
My main question is this: How much did it actually cost to mount the camper onto a Hilux 4WD truck? The whole project doesn’t look cheap, and it seems filled with annoyances and inconveniences. Which raises the bigger question: Wouldn’t it be more practical to buy a proper camper instead? Many of the ones made in China look fantastic and are reasonably priced.
Congrats on getting Trevor guys have fun stay safe il be watching out for your adventures on here
Best bet: Sell it right away!😮
It's hard to say no to such smiling faces when they're just presenting their menu. Suda makan reply is just right.
Weh malu tgk camper ni, dah la depa hidup dalam camper ni lepas nii. kurang2 ikut la customer nak apa, benda bukan free
What an absolutely lovely picnic, wonderful food, and the best company.
Why didn't the builders update the suspension & everything else the truck needed before building the camper?
I know you guys are being nice, but I hope the builder apologised to you both. Looking at the boss’s attitude, I do not think he did. I wish you both travel safely and have many more great adventures ahead!
Would love to know the process for the build. There are a lot of comments about the builder/company, but did they actually deliver what you agreed on at the very beginning? Did you communicate your must-haves with them in the beginning? Did you have a detailed plan? Was the budget an issue in getting things how you would have preferred?
It all seems so odd to me that what you got seems so different from what you thought it would be. It seems like most people want to blame the builder, but were there budget constraints or communication hiccups on your end that may have led to expectations not being met? Did you have any concerns during the build or did you think everything was progressing smoothly. Sorry for the 5 million questions. It just seems like there was a major breakdown in communication at some point. Wishing y'all the best on this new adventure.
The image should be able to be flipped to the way you want it (or even inverted) in the reversing mirror camera settings!
42:30 I know that linear solenoid. Its my old friend. Its motor breaking down is not the only point of failure. All of its internal gears are plastics, so time will for sure come when its teeth wore out. I wonder if they only install ONE of it to lift that roof. You should know what is the exact weight of that roof and what is the load bearing capacity of that actuator (check the sticker at the black bit of the actuator). And you definitely need some sort of manual crank to lift up that roof.
I look forward to when Trevor is fully ready 😍 Be an epic adventurer to come
