Let’s Make: Beans and Weenies – the Delux version

Made with added spare ribs and French Fries! Serve it to the kids or grandkids as an occasional treat and they’ll love it.

You will need: chopped onion, butter, can of baked beans, 4 hotdogs, brown sugar, cooked spare ribs, and frozen French fries.

Gently cook about a tablespoon of finely chopped onion with a little butter in a saucepan until soft. Cut 4 hotdogs lengthwise in half and lengthwise again into quarters. Then cut into small pieces about the size of the beans. Cook in the pan with the onions on low to medium heat until browned. Careful – they burn quickly if heated too high.

Optional: To remove the excess oil/moisture, hold a paper towel in tongs and wipe the bottom of the pan to soak up the released liquids while cooking. Repeat a couple of times with fresh paper towels.

Add the beans (16 oz, 450 g can) and brown sugar (a couple of tablespoons). Simmer for several minutes. Remove the meat from 3 or 4 cooked pork spare ribs. Chop into small pieces and add to the beans. Simmer a minute or two.

Cook about a cup of frozen crinkle French fries in oil until golden brown, drain, then cut into pieces about an inch (1-2 cm) long. Serve beans on a plate topped with some fries.
