Bangkok’s Christmas Market at CentralWorld & AYCE Korean BBQ Buffet at Sukhumvit!

Hi everyone. Orestis and Mira here from a very 
windy Bangkok today. So today no buffet but we are heading out for lunch right now and later on 
we also plan to visit the city center and some of the attractions of the city center. They do 
currently have quite a few malls with Christmas decoration. So we really want to check them out 
and what a better way to enjoy it than sharing   it with all of you. So currently still waiting 
for this taxi to take us near the BTS station. Once we are there, we will head straight for 
some lunch and we will see you there. Let’s go. and I believe it is this one. So, what they offer you here is this beef 
with some rice that cooks right on the plate. Basically, this arrives at your table very, very 
hot and it keeps cooking. You can basically cook   it at the table. Let’s see what else they have 
on this side. So, what will we have, Mira? Oh, they have a lot of promotions now. So, we can 
look. They do have promotions. I think last time we got one of those, I think. Yes. So, 
these are the pepper rice. Yeah. Yeah. This time they have miso soup. They do give you 
miso soup as well. I think we will do the same. Yeah. I really liked it last time. Mhm. 
They do also have it with some noodles, beef, sukiyaki, pork with and without egg and 
much much more. We are interested in this one with the rice though. And they even have 
steak as well as some appetizers down here. So, let’s follow Mira and get a 
table right here by the window. They did pass the menu to us. So, take 
a look starting from the appetizers, the wonderful steaks. Look, they have kimchi here 
too. So, this is the promotion now. So, this is their promotions over here. different menu. And 
this is the soup combo set with kimchi included. So this one includes two plates, some additional 
items, and some rice. Okay, you can order it. So we did opt for the combo set. This will include 
two plates with a beef, with a rice as well as some sides, uh a soft drink, and it should cost 
around 500 Baht all together with the drinks. I think the set was a little bit less than 500. So, 
pretty good value overall like most things here. This is a garlic soy sauce. We do mix it a little 
as it does separate. We do add a little bit. And when this is done, you mix everything together like so. And you make sure that the meat 
is cooking. Meat needs to touch the plate. And that the sauce goes everywhere nicely. Pretty nice. You can use this here for one person. And this right here is the one me I got. Take a 
look. I get kimchi too. He gets kimchi too. And I think some cheese here cooking. And this rice and 
the extra rice separately. And they have Korean sauce here too, I think. Ass well, some Korean 
sauce and this some seaweed and some soup. I think we do have a soup also, right. Pretty sure we must 
have a soup as well. Yes. There it is. Miso. Let’s get start to mix. Let’s get started to mix. Let’s 
see how she does it. I have cheese too oh my god. With the cheese for Mira. Do you want any extra 
sauce? Yes. Garlic also. Garlic soy. Let’s do garlic soy sauce. Garlic soy. This is the best. 
This is the best. I agree. I put quite a bit too. Okay, enough. Thank you. And these are our 
sides. Is this crispy pork skin? This is chicken skin. Ah, it’s chicken skin. Okay. 
Very crispy and very nice. You have to try.   Very crispy. It looks very crispy with 
some lemon. Looks perfect. This one is very crispy. Like the big one. Yes. No lemon. 
Okay. I want to try without lemon first. Okay. Oh, did you hear that sound? 
How crispy as well. Looks very, very crispy. I will try one smaller 
piece from here. Wait, let me pick.   They’re all big. This one. We managed 
to break it. Let me take a bite of that. It almost feels like a crispy nacho 
chip. Like it has that consistency. with a nice drop of chicken flavor. And this now is very nicely cooked. So, let’s 
take a little piece here with some of the pork and some of the rice. Looks just wonderful. And 
with a garlic sauce and the added pepper. Must be very tasty. Let’s hope we don’t burn 
ourselves. It’s probably still very hot. Really nice quality pork and with the added 
black pepper. Just excellent. And this one you   can eat with rice and you can eat two ways. You 
grab one lettuce and you roll it like this. Ah, you make it like a pouch. Yes. And then you 
grab a little rice, right? And garlic with And then you put kimchi. And the kimchi going in 
and some pork. Some of the seaweed. Seaweed. The cheese with the kimchi doesn’t go well actually 
together. I don’t know. I don’t know either. Seems   like a weird combination, but maybe you put some 
sauce. Some spicy sauce. Very big bite though. She looks a little bit too messy, but 
probably very tasty, right? Mhm. So, we will enjoy this one and when we are done, we 
will see you outside for some more exploration. And we have arrived at Siam Paragon. 
So this is a very big mall located in   central Bangkok and as you can see here, 
beautiful Christmas decoration with a big tree and it seems packed with people. 
Would you like to take a picture of this? And they have a little house back here. 
Let’s see what they have in there. Seems like just a few toys on display with 
some plushies and other little accessories. And let’s head into the main building of the mall. Even more Christmas decoration 
here. And it looks like it is   their 20th anniversary. They do celebrate that. And this right here is a very 
popular Thai actress and fashion   icon. We will leave a link down below 
if you want to check her out. So, let’s explore a little bit more. Let’s see 
what else they have on the upper floors. And on the fifth floor of Siam Paragon, they 
currently have what they call Nextopia. So, this is their newest zone here on the 
fifth floor, and it’s supposed to be a   model city of the future world, combining 
technology, art, and sustainability. So, this is a very large 15,000 square meter area 
on the fifth floor. It covers basically all of the fifth floor. And they have various zones for 
walking, tasting food as well as shopping areas. And it’s all decorated in this very futuristic 
style with different plants and animals mixed together. Something very unique and 
interesting and worth checking out. And after our walk through Siam Paragon, it was 
time to explore the nearby Christmas market. And even though they don’t really celebrate 
Christmas in Thailand as a Buddhist country,   that doesn’t mean that the city center 
isn’t decorated in a Christmas theme. And this area apparently is filled with malls. 
There is another one right across the street. This mall is where the new copper buffet has opened. We 
will check this out at some point in the future, but for now just the sign. And these are all the 
other restaurants that you can visit in this mall. But once we were done exploring this 
one, it was time to eat something   again. We said no buffet today, but we 
might have changed our plans a little. After our lovely walk at the city center, we have 
returned to Century Mall for some dinner. So, Mira found a nice hot pot restaurant on the third floor 
and we will be trying it out. It does have very good reviews. So, when it comes to restaurants in 
this mall, it might be one of the better ones. So, let’s head up and check it out. Though, I think 
it’s this over here right around this corner here. And we were given this table over here. So they do have a tablet here where you can 
order from. Should we check around first or Yeah, let’s check around, I would say. Yes. 
And then we can check what they have to   see what they have. And then we can come 
back to browse the additional items over here. And these are some of their wonderful 
meats over here in the fridge. But they do replenish them. Some pork collar, pork belly, 
soy sauce, marinated pork, gochujang marinated, pork collar and belly and a curry paste. And 
even a soybean paste, marinated pork belly. And the condiments here with some cucumber salad, 
Japanese style, pickled radish, and the kimchi, and some lettuce and bean sprouts in the back. And 
this is included with a price. Look at this. Oh, and they have my favorite tea here, the butterfly 
pea, honey lemon tea. This is very aromatic and refreshing. Here they do have the ice cream. And 
even some ice cream for later. And what is this? Oh, some tofu and maybe some additional veggies. I 
think I see some onion there as well and peppers. This one kind of finished. Yes. Some noodles 
Chinese style by the looks of it. This is   also pork. Mhm. Also some pork. Apologies. 
I don’t know the exact descriptions as they are in Thai. And this is the tteokbokki. 
Mira likes that Korean style tteokbokki. They even have some fried items. Sesame leaf. Ah, 
and this is the sesame leaf. This is something I wanted to try. So, it is the leaf from the 
sesame plant deep fried. Very interesting. We will be getting some. And you can see 
even more items. What is this, Mira? Uh, I don’t know either. It’s like a kimchi pancake. 
Oh, I will be trying one of that as well. And some rice balls. Yeah, like a sushi style. 
Sushi style. And some very small sushi here. Little sushi station. And the fried rice. Fried 
rice as well. I’m assuming some steamed rice. Oh, look. Mushroom and tofu. Interesting. I 
don’t think we will be eating soup here. However, with all the meats, I think we will be 
going straight for the wonderful meats. Ooh,   this smells very kimchi. Kimchi style. I think 
this is like a stew, like with a lot of onions. I think it is a stew. And I think I read I read this 
is popular. So, maybe we should try some of that. And what is this? Seaweed. Ah, just some seaweed 
boiled. Okay. Plain. So, mira I think we should start with grabbing some of the meat here from 
the fridge. And also checking out their menu. Mhm. Get some of that. Yes. Go do marinated pork 
belly. This one is Get two of them. I also know we want these, right? Mhm. This we do 
want. Let’s get two. This one. This one is soy sauce marinated pork collar. Let’s get 
one. Get this one. Looks nice and marbled. Back there they do have some chicken as well. 
And this is simple without any sauce. And Mira will browse the veggies here. Ah, she will 
put them separately. Okay. As these items are not meant to be grilled. Which one you can eat 
with the meat? This one is like a salad. Yeah,   you can eat next to the meat. And this is the 
radish again. Mhm. Okay. I’m mostly here for the meats as you know me. Maybe some kimchi, 
but I will try the the fried leaf. I will try the fried leaf for sure. Oh, they have sesame 
leaf here. Maybe add some of the sesame leaf   here. Maybe add some veggies here. Mira will 
do that for us. I didn’t know the sesame plant had big leaves like this. I never tried before. I 
never try either, but the people like we do have a dish in Greece from the vine leaves which we 
wrap rice in. So these dishes are interesting to me somehow cuz the leaf does give a nice aroma 
most of the time. And also adding some lettuce and they even have stuff like 
pumpkin, onions, and the watermelon. Should we get some drinks? Yes. You want ice? 
A little bit. Very little ice. I would like Exactly. That’s enough for me. So, let’s add 
this lovely purple drink. This is my favorite. As you can see, nice and purple. Let’s see what 
Mira gets. I will get the same. The same. Yeah, this is very nice. And maybe a straw, too. And 
we should start with a menu immediately. Let us take a look. So they do have quite a few items 
here. Clam soup. I don’t know about clam soup. This one. If you like it. Yeah, you can order. 
Of course. Why not? Black bean sauce noodles. Ah, it’s just a black bean sauce. Okay, let me see. 
What did we miss here? Steamed egg, corn cheese, spicy corn cheese, mixed noodles. I think these 
we can skip, right? We are not too interested.   Let’s head straight to the meats. So they have 
additional pork belly spicy sauce marinated. Oh, and these are the spicy one. Mala pork. Should 
we get that? I think so. Braised pork. Should we try that? Yes. Okay, let’s try one of that as 
well. And I think these three are enough, right? For now. Yes, for now. Should we order? Yes, do 
they have more? They do have some beer and some I don’t know what the other items are. Let’s take 
a look. What is a Makgeolli? It’s like a drink. Yes, it’s like the alcohol very traditional drink 
of traditional alcoholic drink of Korea. Well, I don’t know my Korean drinks. A thousand apologies. 
But soju mostly they drink after work. Soju yeah, I know. Strawberry soju classic green grape and 
the beer. Thai beer. So little menu here. Most of the items you get from the fridge from the 
buffet. Should we start grilling those? Yes, of course. Let’s put our meats. Should 
we chop or like put it whole? Let’s just put it whole first so it can cook 
properly. And our little items here. Very nice. This is pork mala. This is pork mala style. 
Just arrived. They delivered to us. We will wait a little for this. Let’s wait until the 
other items are ready. I would like to grab   some of the fried items as well as appetizers. 
Maybe some French fries and also the sesame leaf right here. This is very interesting to me. 
Let’s just try one first. And also some of the fries as we do have a ketchup sauce. And 
why not just a few more? And here they even have some fried chicken. I think I might 
try some of that. Let’s try this piece. Oh, and they do have the spicy chicken. It just   looks too good to pass. But 
again, just a small piece. And the mystery pouch here. Let’s try it out 
to complete this plate. And I think that’s perfect as an appetizer plate. Oh, and our 
spicy braised pork has arrived. Take a look. They delivered that in a little plate that 
was still cooking. This Mira wanted mostly, but I will also try a little piece. And 
Mira here is doing some cutting. When   you starting to get cooked, they will 
cut it. Yeah, when it starts to cook, you need to cut it into smaller pieces 
for it to cook even more thoroughly. Ooh, look at the spicy one over here. 
Smell really nice. Smells very good. Yeah,   it looks like they have good meats. So, we will 
be at a little bit of an angle here as we do have the grill right in front of us. So, let’s give 
this big leaf a try. Let me move my plate over   here as it might get messy. Mmm. Oh, very crispy 
this one. Doesn’t have too much flavor, but it is definitely leafy. Not very aromatic though. Just 
just very fresh. Has a very fresh flavor to it. And you can see it’s just a single leaf,   but it does have a distinct aroma to 
it for sure. By looking at this bite, you do expect that it must taste just like 
breading. But no, you do taste the leaf inside. Not something to eat much of, but 
as an appetizer, I think it’s great. And what is this, Mira? Oh, it’s the 
clam soup that she got. Clam soup. So,   this is a simple clam soup with some onion. Onion, 
one chili and one chili on this side. Interesting. I did see the green chili. Yes. Let’s see how 
she likes it. Mmm. It look very light and boring, but it’s very tasty and freshy. Try. It looks 
very simple. Yeah, I’m not in the mood for soup today because it will make me even more hot 
that I already am. No, I can’t imagine it being   nice. I’m just more in the mood for meats 
now. And let’s do some meat flipping here. Even though I think this does need a little bit 
more cooking. They didn’t set the grill too high,   but the little mushroom pieces are ready, I think. 
So, they need to be flipped. Let me show you how to eat. And Mira will show us what to do with a 
leaf because it’s new to me. So, this is a sesame leaf. You add some bean sprouts. You can add or 
you don’t add it. You do add the meat and you eat it with the leaf. Okay, we will try that also. 
And then you put some ah then you put the sauce. Okay. You do put some sauce. And you wrap it. 
And you wrap it like a little pouch. Very nice. How does it taste? Not good. Why? Leave it. 
I like the leaf. Taste is weird I don’t know how to explain it, but it has a distinct taste. 
Yeah, for sure. Let us grab a leaf here. We will   do exactly the same. So, let’s add a piece from 
the middle here. One that’s better cooked. And I think our leaf will be full of meat. We will add 
two different kinds of meat. And let’s also add some of our sauce here. Just a little bit of sauce 
on top. And I think the sauce is a little messy, but it starts dripping from the back. 
But oh, the taste I think I like. Oh, which is very aromatic, fish beef. Let’s try 
our second piece here. Oh, Mira didn’t like it because it has the distinct aroma, but I think 
I actually love that. Wow. I think in fact I like it so much that I’m going to make a second 
one just with one piece of meat. And for this,   we will put this nice piece of pork here 
on top of the leaf. But with the sauce, we have to be very careful as it is not 
staying inside very well. So I think   this we will just wrap all the way so that we 
make sure the sauce stays nice and tucked in. If you find sesame leaf in Asia, try it. You 
will like it. This sauce is very nice with meat. It very good. Mira recommends eating 
this sauce. Let’s try with a little piece of meat here. So let’s take a different piece. 
Let’s take one from down here. I think this   one might be a little spicy. Let’s pick up 
this piece and dunk it in some of the sauce that Mira suggested. It appears to be like 
just a simple red sauce. Let’s give it a try. Oh, and I think this one is heavy on the garlic 
and quite a bit of spice, too. That’s why Mira   likes it. Give her garlic and chili and she loves 
it. But it is a very tasty one. Kimchi is coming. Mira brought us some kimchi. They replenished 
it. That would have also been nice in the leaf,   I think. But we kind of run out. We might get more 
later. Let us try this chicken, though. This would also be very, very spicy. It looks very red and 
spicy. Let’s give it a try. Let’s take a bite. Oh, and not as spicy as it looks. It is a sweet and 
spicy sauce. And the chicken very caramelized, honeyed with quite a bit of crunch to 
it. Very nice. But the spice levels   have increased a little. So, let’s take a 
sip of our wonderful butterfly pea juice. And this is exactly the same as I remember 
it. Very nice and aromatic. I think the good   ratings are warranted. This does have nice 
meat, nicely marinated, very good quality. And even some specialty items like the sesame 
leaf, you don’t find that everywhere. And these   mushroom pieces right here are starting 
to get a little bit overcooked, I think. So, we took the pork with the mushroom and 
let’s also try it with this sauce here because I will add a little much because I like the 
mushroom getting salt in the sauce. But we will let it drip for a moment and also cool down 
a little as it was right from the griddle. So, let’s try this bite here. Hopefully, 
not too hot and the mushroom did escape. And I did get hit by some spice. I don’t 
know from what. Maybe the meat piece had a   lot of chili. And we put around one items 
to our plates. And the mala coated pork is now on the grill. Mira over here also 
got some leaf. She likes the lettuce leaf better than the sesame leaf. Okay. And 
they also have this little pouch thing   here. I don’t know what this is, but 
we’re going to try it on its own first. It does have some pork inside, I think, 
and maybe some chives. Very nice. But I think it does need a little bit of 
sauce. So we will also dip the rest in   this sauce. And flip it. So let’s see the 
improved version. Does it taste better. And yeah, the sauce is much needed. Nice little 
item for an appetizer. And we did take some of   our mala meats out of the grill. The rest is 
still cooking down here. Mira says it gives a funny feeling to your tongue when you eat 
this. Let’s give it a try. First on its own. Oh, very aromatic sauce, but the spice 
starts kicking in immediately after. Yeah, this is quite a spicy one. Manageable, but 
barely. And I think this one doesn’t need any   extra sauce. The mala sauce is enough, I think. 
As it is very aromatic and also very spicy. And with around one almost finished 
and a new plate on the grill,   we will be bringing back some additional items 
for our grill. So, let’s go pick them up. And our round two just had this pork 
belly remaining. Let’s pick one piece up   each. Cheers. I think also with this 
lovely sauce, it is just the best. Look how nice. Oh, and with around two finished, I 
think we just have enough space left   for some ice cream. And that’s it. 
So, let’s see what they have here. Maybe a little bit of this, even 
though they don’t have much left.   Looks maybe a cookie style ice cream. We do 
like those cookies and cream style. And maybe what is this? Green pistachio. Maybe lemon. 
Let me try maybe some coffee too. I will go with some more traditional European flavors 
here. And that would be enough for me. And Mira will get her typical strawberry. Coffee 
with strawberry. Coffee with strawberry. Okay. One strawberry and one coffee. One coffee. 
I would like to try one. And try one of this one. Looks very artificially green. Nice color. 
And let’s try our ice cream straight away. Let’s see if this was indeed cookies and cream or 
maybe just a simple stracciatella ice cream. Seems more like cookies and cream, I 
think. So, this a very milky and creamy vanilla with some chocolate chips. I 
think it’s just a chocolate chip ice   cream. Vanilla chocolate chip. Not really 
cookie. So, more like a stracciatella type. This is stracciatella, not cookies and 
cream. Still very nice and refreshing.   Did you try coffee. Coffee? Not yet. 
Let’s try it. I really like coffee. You really like it? Then maybe we 
will also like it. Let’s try it. Oh, strong coffee. Wow. This is really 
strong coffee. If you taste coffee   more than anything else, which is not 
usually the case with coffee ice cream, you do taste the milkiness first, but this 
one hits you with some coffee immediately. And I have to say coffee is the winner clearly. 
Really realistic coffee flavor. Just excellent. And we’re also done with our ice cream. 
So this was the Annyong Barbecue Buffet,   Korean barbecue grill. Very nice buffet. We pretty 
much enjoyed everything. Their grilled meats were of excellent quality and even some dishes that 
I tried for the first time like the sesame leaf.   That was something new. So we hope you enjoyed 
today’s little walk in the city. We did see quite a lot of things. Nice Christmas decorations. As 
you saw, Bangkok is very festive already. We will be staying here a couple more weeks. So we will
