This view… kinda feels normal now. His mom came to pick us up—straight to grab essentials!! Housewife perk + mother-in-law card perk too… hehe 😅 After dinner, we decided to sleep over at Shun’s parents’ place. We were laying tiles until midnight the night before… Got home at 3AM, woke up at 8AM, and left right away. Let’s move this stuff like our lives depend on it!! Suitcases we’re sending back to his parents’ place. Our place is tiny—nothing fits in here ^_^… So she came with us and waited while we moved everything. On the way, she said, “Please take good care of Shun.” Bye-bye! See you soon :)) See you next time!!
Thank you always. Breakfast is… convenience store, as usual. And this is just the stuff from his parents’ place + my two suitcases… The EMS boxes and our furniture haven’t even arrived yet lol Sit. LOL.
Sit. Back then, we didn’t know… the packages were about to show up ALL at once. We basically ate breakfast sprawled on the floor. Protein is mandatory ^^ Okay—battery recharged. Me too. I NEVER drink energy drinks, but I was already dying. Ganbaru? Ganbatte? Whatever—just hang in there!!! Work playlist? Yup yup yup yup. Lay the leftover tiles first—NOW!! Meanwhile Shun’s handling the gas/water inspections AND laying tiles. He did about 3 hours the night before… and another ~4 hours that morning. Before this, he’d already come like three times and finished the living room + kitchen. You good? Yeah. Heave-ho. Do it!! None of the walls in this place are properly square… sticking tiles was HELL. And then the deliveries started attacking us lol And not even everything had arrived yet lol PLUS we still hadn’t finished the tiles lol Is this all your clothes?
We had nowhere to put stuff, so we shoved all the clothes in the bathtub 😭 Yeah. And your clothes too. Midway through, the fridge arrived…
But it fit TOO perfectly in the cabinet—said it could warp the wall. So they refused to install it and took it back… We already paid, and we needed a fridge ASAP… We had to find a replacement fast.
Luckily the appliance staff knew his dad, so they helped a lot—new one came the next day. We showed photos when buying AND measured properly…
What do you mean “kitchen fit” is a thing?? 😭 Shun went all in and got a rare two-door fridge… I was DEVASTATED—only the one-freezer-compartment models fit… And they’re stupid expensive too. Thinking about it again makes me mad.
(Appliances here cost like 2x Korea, fr.) I said “I don’t care about the price—get the biggest one that fits,”
but the width was just too narrow… nothing we could do. I was planning to use it for the next 10 years… and now I’m about to cry from pure rage. But we were BOTH exhausted, and we hadn’t even started organizing… So I couldn’t be all pouty and whiny.
I was crushed, but I held it in. I love cooking, so I NEED a big fridge…
especially the freezer 😭😭 ffs Sigh… okay I’ll stop complaining. It’s my fault our place is tiny… But hey—at least the Chinese cold noodles were good 😭 Even while eating, the deliveries just wouldn’t stop… I couldn’t tell if I was eating through my nose or my mouth. Yes sir! Is that Amazon? Nah, Nitori… We were about to lose even the space to EAT. Shun, what are you doing? Organizing. We gotta make space for incoming packages. Nitori isn’t that much—you don’t need to make space. Eat. Yes, sir… Helping is eating and cleaning up. Zero breathing room… not even for a second. After lunch, straight into furniture assembly—no breaks. My back is about to snap… Shun put on a lifting belt 😂 While taking out the trash— —we absolutely DESTROYED some conveyor-belt sushi. Started assembling the bed at midnight… Barely finished at 5AM… Please make lots of money… I’m never doing this again 😭 Morning delivery: the downgraded fridge. While Shun went to register his address, I tried assembling stuff alone… He told me to PLEASE rest… but how do you rest in this chaos? 😭 Day 2: finally finished all furniture—naturally, at 5AM again. Shun gave me massages every night during the move. Even back in Australia, he’d work all day and still massage my legs at night. The next day—our FIRST real grocery run!!! Seasoning heaven: Japan is great.
Shun is suffering. They’ve got gochujang and ssamjang… but no doenjang 😂
Meanwhile there are like 30 kinds of miso. Shun’s going to Tokyo for 2 weeks of training. So we’re panic-packing. You didn’t forget anything, right? AH!! PROTEIN!!!!! The most important thing: protein!!! And your supplements too!! Seriously, nothing else? Shaker— Bring your protein shaker!! Thanks. That’s really it. For real—nothing else. You don’t need diarrhea medicine…? I’m good, don’t need it. No—just in case. LOL Shun is a certified IBS king… Packing tip: Think from head to toe. Head = iron, hair dryer, hair oil, brush, etc. Toe = shoes, socks, etc. like that. You packed EVERYTHING, right? The endless loop: “I’m done packing” → “AH!! I forgot this 😅” → repeat. Close it then. You close it—it’s heavy. Wait. L-let me double-check. (cursing) Ah… where did I put that? We haven’t organized yet, so I have no idea where anything is. Super good~ No—perfect. It’s fine! What’s “fine”?? I did EVERYTHING—what do you mean “fine” 😂 Thanks… Get dressed and go already. I think I’m kinda sick. Really?? We did push ourselves… Because… I’m gonna miss you too much 🥲 LOOOOOOL I can see everything you spent money on~ 😌 You spent here~ and there~ and everywhere~ Okay, let’s go. Don’t gooooo 😭 Back to society we go… You? HAHAHAHA Ganbare!! Make lots of money… (a hug mixed with love and capitalism) Fighting! Lol I’m seeing you again in a few days anyway. Let’s go! Bye~~ 😭 Surviving Osaka solo without Shun—let’s go!! The second I got home… more packages. Sigh… yes. Thank you very much. The moment Shun left, I started catching up on the kitchen chaos… Made stock packs with anchovies and Dasida I brought from Korea, And since ALL the dishes were brand new, I had to wash everything… Scrub scrub scrub—going hard. Dishwashing hell… Not enough drying racks, so I had to do dishes in multiple rounds 😭 Assembling the sofa side table that just arrived. Next morning—put away the dried dishes, Then… more infinite dishwashing. First meal I cooked in this house. First time using this rice cooker too. Did you know Japan has “musenmai”—rice you don’t have to wash? It’s a bit pricier than regular white rice, but SO convenient. Top it with natto~ Add sausages and egg~ Sesame oil my grandma pressed!! Finding something to watch on YouTube while getting ready to eat. Quickly hydrate first. Lately, I’m addicted to natto. After eating, I borrowed ChatGPT’s help… And slapped Korean labels on every appliance. Really feeling that “living in Japan” vibe again… Washing machine, microwave, rice cooker, TV, AC… Why are there SO many things to label? Oh—and don’t forget the boiler and hot water too. The remotes were pure chaos. Not this necessary, but… exposure to Japanese, you know? 😅 Finished and the place is a mess + dinner time. No rest—straight into garlic prep, let’s go. I didn’t realize then how insanely pre-prepped veggies are in Japan. Even peeled garlic is like 95% cleaned with the ends removed. And that much garlic was 3,000 yen… veggies are carrying the economy. Do I even need to remove that part? Chop-chop with a chopper~ There’s tube minced garlic too, but it just doesn’t hit for Koreans. This is way cheaper AND the garlic flavor is stronger. The American-style jar minced garlic feels too watery… not my vibe. I miss those frozen minced garlic cubes from Coupang… Late dinner—just throwing something together. No internet yet, so no TV… just my phone 😭 When I’m alone, salad rice I can shovel in = 최고. Right after eating, I called Shun—he got off work. How does it feel being a member of society? 😂 So far… it’s manageable. Are your coworkers nice? They seem nice…
Probably..? Not totally sure yet though lol Hope it stays that way. And during this time, our daily “end of day” ritual was
video calling for an hour every night 😂 Packages are my alarm clock~ Feels like I bought a lot… But you know… life always needs something, That’s what moving is, right..? That laundry basket cost 30,000 won… like WHY. And then straight into taking out the trash~ Night time. He’s worried about me taking the Shinkansen alone tomorrow… 😂 Ahhh… I feel like I suddenly have a child or something. No, I’m fine—I can do it alone 🙄 By the way… did you get a window seat? 😏 NO. Why 😭 It was fully booked. NOOOO my dream 😭😭😭 But I booked you the very front seat—stretch your legs. Hehehe thanks. And right now the seat next to you is empty… but someone might sit there later. That’s fine. You might be able to use your phone… But I’m not 100% sure… Okay, I got it—stop worrying. You might not be able to check your phone once you’re on the Shinkansen— So I’m reminding you a thousand times, okay? 😂 Shun! I told you—I’m one year older than you. But in Japan, I have to take care of you more. Anyway— Don’t miss the train, okay? It’s not like it’s cheap—but I won’t miss it!! It’s 11:35 right now, Just in case something happens… I’m taking the Shinkansen for the first time!!!! Our elevator has a CCTV screen you can watch…
But the people waiting on the 1st floor can watch me too 😂😭 Whew—so many people. Right after I got off the subway, there was a bento shop at the transfer—so I grabbed one!! Problem is… the ticket Shun sent wouldn’t work no matter what… I waited 30 minutes in panic… then Shun finally replied, so I was about to film and show him it wasn’t working, but… And then it suddenly worked… so I basically became “the girl who vlogged a Shinkansen ticket.” I got there an hour early, but only secured the ticket like 10 minutes before departure… And I got SO lost finding the platform… I need Shun 😭 I was starving, so I grabbed a sandwich too hehe. No because… the bento looked amazing on the wrapper— —but when I opened it, it looked like literal trash?? It was 15,000 yen too?? It didn’t even taste good, so I picked at the toppings and switched lanes to the sandwich. I was expecting something sweet-and-salty, you know…? Just in case… one more bite… Yup. Literally just plain bread + bland rolled egg. ZERO sauce. I was genuinely confused. I took one more bite because it felt wasteful… …and then said, “Okay, you go back in there.” But the real problem started the moment I arrived in Tokyo… I got off the Shinkansen and spotted a trash can— So I threw away the leftover bento.
(As you know, trash cans are rare in Japan.) And without thinking I went, “Train ticket = I already used it, don’t need it,”
and tossed EVERYTHING… Then I saw the exit gate and was like—WAIT. THE TICKET!!! So I sprinted back like an absolute maniac. I dug through the trash can with the station staff like we were hunting treasure… …and I finally found it. Barely survived. Moral of the story: if you find a trash can in Japan, you have to dump ALL your trash—
trash you have, trash you don’t have… EVERYTHING 😭😭😭 damn it. Subway to Shun’s hotel area!! I felt like a little kid alone among all the salarymen. Shun got off work late, so I waited alone at an izakaya… Ended up befriending the guy next to me—we shared snacks and chatted for TWO hours lol Then Shun arrived and we did round two together—three of us 😂
Shun treated because he was “thankful I kept myself entertained.” He was worried the guy might be creepy,
but nah—he was just a cool, nice dude 😂 Anyway… look at us going to lunch like THIS. Next day we went to try the tonkatsu the guy recommended—
Shun said it was “the best tonkatsu of my life.” We sent proof pics to “Charlie” and promised to meet again in Osaka 😂 It was Saturday, so we went to Shinjuku together. Made me realize… Osaka crowds are NOTHING compared to this. Went to Shibuya 109 and saw the terrifying Teletubbies pop-up… Like… Korean Teletubbies are cute.
Why are the Japanese ones giving Annabelle?? I needed a coin purse for Japan, so we looked around and stopped by Diesel— I kinda liked one and he just bought it for me. “You worked so hard moving,” he said 🥺 We had time before dinner, so bookstore time—cookbooks!! Learning Japanese home-cooking + studying Japanese at the same time. A new discovery about umbrella handles(?) We’re having sushi with Shun’s oldest brother and younger brother who live in Tokyo. A little “congrats on the move” + greeting moment. They’re all insanely handsome but I can’t show you guys~ Average height of the three: 185cm. Very reassuring. Oldest brother is slim, and Shun + youngest are muscular. And the oldest brother just got married. The youngest is single though…
Anyone interested~~~? Shun-chan was extra happy after omakase + lots of drinks lol Before going back to the hotel, we destroyed some hangover ramen. Today: Yokohama. A HUUUUGE Chinatown. Came for the famous xiaolongbao. Not just crowded—this was bigger than any Chinatown I’ve seen anywhere. Eating street food is the whole vibe here. Japan’s in a mala-tang boom too—
people were lining up like crazy for YGF malatang. Took a taxi to Yokohama’s signature Red Brick Warehouse. So… what’s Yokohama famous for? (That thing right in front of you.) What is “that thing.” The port and— Chinatown and— …and that’s it, apparently 🙃
(He’s from Osaka so… if you disagree, you’re right.) The Red Brick buildings have tons of cute little shops—perfect for souvenirs. Got a cute apron! Yokohama feels like a “new city” vibe—different from Tokyo? So clean… the parks are gorgeous… I’d love to live here with a family. Sh*t… it smells. Eat a mint RIGHT NOW, seriously. Eat two. Stop being dramatic. You were shocked, huh…? Sorryyyy… Starting today, Japan is an oil-rich country. We met Shun’s friends at a Korean restaurant. They had this drink—“Ganrakshu?” (??)
Something with Baekseju + soju + cucumber? It’s the signature here, apparently. Second round: we went to a weird bar. You know how in Japan there are ladies outside doing street soliciting? Those places usually have karaoke machines + unlimited alcohol, So Shun (and his friends) go to places like that pretty often. Nothing crazy—just all-you-can-drink and singing, then go home. We drank way too much on Sunday night…
so the moment I woke up, I shoved Pocari Sweat into my body. Shun was hungover too, but I felt bad leaving him sleeping alone—
so I stayed up watching him get ready for work. I’m leaving today (Monday), and Shun won’t be back until Friday night… So we hugged extra tight. Kiss. B-bye~ Love you. Bye, Shun! Have a good day today too~~ Before heading back to Osaka, I had lunch with my cousin and his girlfriend,
and we even took purikura together. I’m SO exhausted.
The amount of alcohol we drank in 3 nights/4 days could fill a bathtub. Got to Osaka after sleeping ZERO because the foreigners next to me were loud. And of course I arrived right at rush-hour hell. Once I got to Osaka— —it was already evening. I need to go home and make 틈새 ramen ASAP… This is the only storage cabinet in this house. Max load is only 10kg, so I can’t even put plates in it lol (Max load 10kg… so no plates lol) So it’s basically for ramen and light stuff only. (So useless 😭) But hey… better than nothing. Thank you 🙏 For lunch I had burgers with my cousin who lives in Tokyo, But obviously a burger can’t wash away a 3-night-4-day alcohol marathon. Tteumsae ramen never loses. The biggest weakness of Japanese food: there’s not enough spicy food. So you have to periodically transfuse Buldak at home. Facts. And this SUPER cute— —apron~~ No rice, no life!! Even the straps are onigiri 😂 so cute I’m gonna cry Cute, right? Oh, we got this! A microwave + oven combo that the oldest brother bought us!! And I went grocery shopping today too— But honestly I still feel weird using Shun’s card… Like… using his card while he’s working all day feels… weird. It’s 7PM right now, He started work at 7:30AM… And still no “I’m off work” message yet… Oh and yesterday— I couldn’t resist and bought kimchi. Why is Japanese kimchi always sweet?? But this much was only like 2,500 won, So price-wise it might even be cheaper than Korea. But it’s too sweet… it’s weird… And it’s like… the kimchi has this sticky texture? Starch? Corn syrup? It feels kinda viscous—no refreshing taste. But I can’t throw it away. I have to finish it. Did you know— Japan doesn’t really sell spicy chili peppers at regular supermarkets… So tomorrow I’m taking my suitcase, Going to Namba, and wiping out an Asian market. Today, the internet installation guy FINALLY came. For two weeks I could only use my phone…
No iPad, no laptop… and my plan doesn’t allow hotspot 😭 Shun is coming back the day after tomorrow!! Honestly… time passed fast. I went to Tokyo and all that, so— But still… when he’s not here, it feels empty 😭 I still don’t even know how each day is passing. I’m going to the dentist now, Then heading to the Korean market— Dragging a suitcase with me 😂 [Kuromon Market] Mala addicts would lose their minds at this malatang ingredient lineup. Douyoupi, Chinese glass noodles, tofu rolls… just EVERYTHING. The Thai market was way smaller than I expected, So there wasn’t much to buy… I only got some Thai chilies. I wanted kimchi, but only Chinese-made ones were left 😭
The Korean market was big, but kinda disappointing. But I went feral anyway—stuffed my suitcase until it almost exploded.
Probably over 15kg… it was so hard. And then… the Namba YGF Malatang I was SO excited for. I used to LOVE it when I lived in Australia, And it’s basically the only malatang place in Osaka, so I had high hopes— This amount was about 20,000 won… kinda pricey. People said it usually has a long wait too… It was INSANELY bad. Like… the worst malatang of my life. Just oily, not strong mala, and weirdly sweet too 😑 It felt like “malatang interpreted as Japanese food.”
Anyway I was MAD 😑 And because of malatang, I got stuck in after-work rush-hour on my way home. Video-called Shun and said “see you tomorrow,” And wrapped up the day. Morning grocery run + preparing Shun’s welcome-back dinner!! That much wagyu was 30,000 won. Like… are you kidding?? Someone please buy me a food sealer. It’s a big cut so I’m doing sous-vide. 20 minutes until Shun arrives!! Before searing, I reheated the steak with sous-vide again, And while that was happening, I cleaned too— And made a clam chowder (kinda?) soup. Shun’s favorite steak side: Mashed potatoes—done and ready. 10 minutes left!!! Reheating the mashed potatoes~ Mashed potatoes with steamed garlic + beef dashida is actually illegal. So good. Diiiing-dong~ Not “triumphant return,” but “triumphant return of the mail.” I installed a new door lock while Shun was gone, so he doesn’t know the code 😂 Okaeri. Tadaima~~ So cute!! You’re REALLY cute!! It smells SO good. Ahh you’re so cute~~ No touch! Good job today hehe. Long time no see~~ Not that long though.
Like… 4 days..? lol Nara!! Why why—are you hungry??! Nara!! I’m hungry. I’m so happy. This is gonna be my life from now on, right? It smells SO good 😭 Oooooooh coooool~~ Honestly… I REALLY missed you. This mashed potato is INSANE. Please!!! Let it be good!!! 🙏🙏 That’s crazy. Look at this, please 😭 OMG. Honestly it’s probably the wagyu doing all the work, not my cooking 😅 The king oyster mushroom pickles were… whatever. A very questionable chimichurri made with celery leaves! My favorite steak sauce = whole grain mustard. Hoochoo-hoochoo-hoochoo (sniff sniff) It’s done~~ Ready? Yesss~~ (cheering) First… a glass of whiskey. This was Shun’s first homemade meal since moving. He’s a full-on steak addict, So whatever I make, his reactions are always great—makes me want to cook more 😂 Your favorite potato. At dinner we talked about how work was, What I did while he was gone, etc. It wasn’t even THAT long since we last saw each other, But somehow… his absence felt extra loud. Also, Japanese beef feels so cheap?? In Korea, for that size and cut, you can’t even buy Aussie or US beef. Veggies are cheap too—grocery shopping is still sooo fun. I’m so happy!! I prepared this all day. Genius chef Nara-chan. I’m about to open a new bourbon— You okay? Are you bleeding? Yeah, a little. Ah… I don’t think I can do the dishes 😭 It’s okay~~ you can do it~~ It’s okay.
I’ll do it. Really?? Isn’t it sharp?? I don’t think I can do dishes either… Thank you so much. That looks SO good. It was delicious. (I ended up doing the dishes 😇) Success surviving Osaka alone!

요로시꾸!!!
