it’s two different sections there’s a section where they offer the fish from the beach and then you have a section where they’re just selling my fish and their auction the fish off right so we’re gonna buy some fish I’m gonna try some Thai and then we went back to the seashell harris beach homes and then we’re gonna have a huge fish southern Indian breakfast with fish fry with a bomb I can’t wait you’re as excited let’s do this so David we start baby I having the video pictures so we’ll just take it out I was surrounded by a huge crowd pretty racy hey hey no I’m gonna get a bit of good let’s go let’s go the fishes are said like it’s a sale market and that’s the wholesale market where the fisherman’s wife from now to plan is an auction this that’s the other place at also his baby buy like the local people go and buy from here Wow other is the auction place where you buy in a bulk okay I love her in the fish market it really is a spectacle everybody’s going crazy cutting fish buying fish so many different whoa look at this look at this one a sailfish one of me oh my god can you pick it up so you have kingfish shellfish you have Marlin they have a small shrimp oh my god this is massive here we have the king fish oh my god cleanup the bad area outside over here is where they cut the video fishes and give to the nearby hotels and the people like that take the fish from here like they cut into pieces yeah so I mean basically these are the fish butchers right yeah which they kick off the scales and they color in the pieces and now this guy’s gonna cut the masses massive Marlin oh my god this might be a little sensitive or some people this is what it is man it’s a raw market really raw hardcore fish market just walk through here buy some fish depleted for you take it to your house and cook that’s what we’re doing we get some tuna some selfish king king fish and every doctor I will give this card for free and this is a true fish market it’s wet it’s called a wet market the reason why because they keep cleaning and all water keeps falling and over here whoa we have stingray Wow stingray what are those small selfish small selfish right I’ve never seen that sticker before so this is the area where they pack the fishes and loading the tracks over they and everything goes to karma spots in karnataka and other cities in Kerala and away it’s in stages so we are the nearby nearby port whether they get the fishes so it’s one of the best places in Kerala for fishing boats jump in in this region so bi nearby to the carnival like Bangalore man just come here for X you see this yes of course in here is the fact of the big ice containers the coolers razorfish pink fish love it fish fry brain the gills and he goes for the stomach right there right like cut deep it’s like a really really bad if you’re really fast so hard it’s like oh say hello acts you know what tonight but it’s like it’s really hard now we go to shell and night into the French fry and eat together also what’s going I mean they just pulled me over here so I could see all the fish being sent away the fish with so much crushed ice thank you thank you all awesome the entire truck was like filled to the rim with tuna Marlin so I’ll let’s go let’s go so now we are entering the harbor this is the place where the board comes in they bring out the fishes and the people by eating auction like in bulk wow this is how a really selfish you know Achtung it off credible it’s funny cuz you don’t really see that around the world they usually do it but it’s not it’s private here it’s public let’s go in buy whatever you want [Music] Harbor another very fishy place yes we are a small board coming here okay the flash piece coming here fresh fish tell people all to buy in this simple procedure yeah yeah amazing so this is a fish market directly on the bones of people on the sands people are buying prawns the boat comes directly to here they unload the fish because we are late we couldn’t see that runs they’ll unload the buckets over here people will gather around and then fight an option by this much I need this beer to get eventuated yeah I guess is the first rice or so the way it works like this the fishermen come onto the beach wait there catch and they auctioned off what’s the afternoon off these guys buy it right and they put it for sale to the next for a few next so in the beginning it’s like it’s like one rupee profession in poor culture okay if you were just actually here we have cows we have fish guys I mean that’s basically it we saw both fishing markets so the main fish market and then the harbour fish market that’s you can do if you want to come here and see them auction a lot of fish off come here at 6:30 in the morning six extorting you’ll see them coming and you know waves of boats bringing all the fish oxygen right away and then it hits these mini markets right here many vendors Wow and they just don’t stop selling huh they sells ourselves on evening the other boats come like in the evening around like three for the other people come with the boots now that option comes again so it’s like either in the early morning or in you should come in around like for something like that for the evening section cha-cha-cha Samba two minutes I know – Mira time okay cheers man nice creamy creamy fluffy frothy every day every day how many a day full 540 is what gives me energy it’s funny because it has low caffeine but if you have it at night you stay off it that keeps you up Wow my friend [Music] superhot milky incredible India it’s actually 10 rupees each total 30 rupees Wow and 8 rupees for the snack which my dad just eat you want the fresh local banana yeah very sweet oh is the best organic one organic ones I made in this house oh wow this is incredible sweet ripe no I’m good okay besides fish shy bananas there’s also tons of fruit watermelon grapes I don’t even know as a soldiers and many things like that yeah any many refreshing drinks and everything they sent everything yeah I mean I think it’s so hot and all the fishermen all the buyers come in they have to actually buy right perfect so the difference between these two markets is that the one at the harbour is more for locals you come here you buy fish even if your let you know a tourist you buy fish go to your hotel you give it to them and they’ll cook it for you right the other one is more for restaurants hotels etc and they also export from there to other states really raw markets what an experience get here early this a lot of cows walking around here there’s like northern India right like mad cows cows everywhere alright so we’re missing one thing we’re gonna see the boat with the fishing nets huge casting nets actually there are many boats than this but everyone has gone deep in for the Monday market like for the Monday so they’ll be staying in the sea for like two days or three days for the bigger features like blood vessel and they’ll come back so this is basically just the harbor all of us park here they fix their nets they go out for a few days they come back and that’s the do repeat repeat repeat fish sleep repeat right and these guys right here are putting together a big red casting they’re huge these are like massive Nets men I love boats I love the boats those are the things small boats which goes like nearby that’s not deep in the sea but those one are the one that stays for a vehicle like 3-4 days those are bigger boats that stays for four days these are one like it one day or a night or something like that all right they’re telling me I can get on the boat so let me see whoa I won’t break right so these go out for a day they can’t obviously you can’t sleep on them those you can sleep on Wow so basically this is got the main guy probably a few early crew members throw the nets they wait a while they come back and they call it fish – right enough for this let’s go eat whoa the fish fry oh man I love so basically what he is doing right now is he is marinating the fish to fry so what is added is like he is added with chili powder he’s gonna add the tamarind the tumeric powder never sing like that handy like chili with garlic things like that so then he marinates it once he’s done just throw it in the fryer oil coconut oil always governor oil this is the secret of the fish fry taste actually me number two a stop on say little rice powder we add this flour is very good taste for the fish fry so it’s gonna be a crunchy fried spicy fish yes I see spicy damn it like spicy much that will give me run away oh my god the man is always very friendly yeah so we explored the first market we went through we saw this swordfish Marlin tuna that were cutting the fish they were packing the fish shipping it off then after them went to the harbour we saw the market there was a live auction off some you know some fish and prawns it saw the entire thing there I mean the experience alone is going there’s it’s really really cool try some chive then we saw the boats came here we made this beast and I gotta say it’s all my favorite so far there’s a breakfast yeah that’s a lot of thought bombs though I’m The eleventh day of my epic trip through Kerala continued after my awesome Theyyam experience. I headed out to have an Indian seafood breakfast at a fish market in Kannur, Kerala, India! Come along with me on my Kannur fish market tour!
My friends Roshan and Mr. Haris from Seashell Haris Beach Home and I started at a massive fish market, where we’d buy a fish We headed to where the fish are sold. Fish markets are always a flurry of activity and a huge spectacle. There’s so much to see, including some huge sailfish, kingfish, marlin, shrimp, and more.
Then, we saw where the butchers cut the bigger fish and sell them to hotels and restaurants. They even had stingray!
Next, we headed to the harbor, where the boats come in and people buy them in bulk. This market is directly on the beach and is mostly for locals and tourists. The fishermen auction off their catch to the men there, who then sell the fish for a profit again and again. Come here at 6:30 a.m. to see them auction off the fish to the mini vendors!
Before we left, we got some hot, creamy, and frothy chai and Mr. Haris peeled me a fresh, local, organic banana. It was so sweet and ripe!
Then, we went to go see the boats and casting nets before we stopped by a mussel vendor on our way back to the resort. They had never-ending mussels, and they were huge! Mr. Haris bought a few and then we went back to the resort to cook everything up!
Back at the resort, I met back up with Ebbin and watched Mr. Haris clean the fish and marinate it in chili powder, tamarind, turmeric, rice flour, and garlic. Then, he threw it in the hot coconut oil!
Along with the fish, Mr. Haris also made puttu. Then, the chef there made the mussel pepper fry with Kashmiri chilies, turmeric, ginger-garlic paste, and pepper. He fried it up in a big skillet and added curry leaves on top. Meanwhile, they placed the puttu on a leaf Mr. Haris cut decoratively.
At our table, we had a potato mash containing vegetables. The fish fry and mussels also arrived. We had a view of the ocean, where there were people fishing for mussels!
We started with a steamed rice dish containing coconut and jaggery. It was nice and sweet and felt like compacted rice. Then, we moved on to the potato mash with vegetables and chilies, appam, mussels, and fish fry. I squeezed some lemon over the fish, which didn’t have many bones.
The fish contained an amazing masala that wasn’t so spicy. It was so juicy and tender, but the rice flour gave it a nice crunch. I got a bit of sand in it, but it was good, especially with the lemon. The spice level was perfect!
My favorite was the mussels. They were unreal! I have to give a huge thanks to my friends at the Seashell Haris Beach Home for this amazing experience and Indian seafood breakfast feast in Kerala, India!

We call it ‘Eeradye’ in South Canara region (Mangalore/Udupi). This delicacy is especially prepared and served here during the auspicious day of ‘Nagara Panchami’. We use Turmeric leaf to prepare this instead of Banana or Teak wood leaf which gives it a very unique texture and nice aroma.

Very sad to see filth and garbage strewn in the open and cows foraging through it. This is not just a North Indian phenomenon as this video proves. Indians have to develop discipline and stop this abuse of public spaces if they want to be Viksit Bharat 2047 (Developed India by 2047 — 100th anniversary of independence). One open air garbage yard undoes twenty magnificent diners/restaurants and all the wonderful local culture and hospitality.
Unnecessary music in the background is just noise, and makes it hard to hear the people.
