catching orthoptera So he’s beaming with confidence Can’t wait! Well, I’ve already said orthoptera,
so I kind of spoiled it already But the food of the day
is in the bushes Bugs in the bushes Well, there’s only one species
that comes to mind I found one! That’s it Today’s target ALRIGHT I won’t let you go I got it! This is the target of the day: migratory locust This isn’t that typical green one This is a brown one I can’t tell if this is in the gregarious phase It pooped on me Hamster-poop
looking ahh poop This is my time to shine! AGHHHH IT LANDED These locusts can fly
100 meters on average F***, it got away! They get away quick
like this sometimes But this is what makes it fun I wrote in my book that migratory locusts are too fast to catch by hand But I’m about to prove that wrong I bet my life on this one catch! I FOUND ONE This time, I’m going to catch you

our dish today! Carnivorous locusts Everyone, take a listen You can hear the sound of grasshoppers here That sound right there I’m going to fish one with
this fish cake here This is not like fishing from before This time it’s like actual fishing They’re chirping where
we can’t see them Oh? There’s a brown big one here It’s a brown grasshopper Okay, looking good! It’s grabbing it! It’s on! It’s so stupid lol These guys apparently eat anything:
locusts, grass, etc I was gonna use the fishcake as bait, but bro was using it
just as a scaffolding Now I’m gonna test to see
how strong this guy’s jaw is There we go OW OW Wait, what? What? It’s bleeding lol Going home Here’s today’s ingredients:
locusts These guys here are migratory locusts And the rest are car locusts, Japanese locusts, and other types
of locusts I’m gonna cook these and turn them
into a very yummy dish This is off-topic, but do you know the anime
“Prison School”? I will summarize it for the
people who don’t know Students who were trapped
in a prison at a private high school get beaten up by the vice principal
with the threat of expulsion And they eat a locust tempura rice bowl
as their last meal in prison A boy named Gackt who

when he realizes how terrible it tastes This is WRONG! There is no way I knew that normal people
don’t eat locusts, but this is insane! It was all the vice principal’s fault
for not cooking so well So we’re gonna be using
these locusts to make the tastiest rice bowl! I know it’s gonna be tasty
when it’s properly cooked It’s just like how
chicken tastes bad raw It’s just like that So first off, we need to tear off
locust legs There are little pricks on
locust legs When they get caught by a predator, they have little thorns
to kick and attack the predator like so These pricks hurt so bad
when you put them in your mouth You even start bleeding So tear them all off You start there Next, tear off the wings Somehow locust wings are so hard
even after being fried and boiled It’s like chewing a plastic film Take them all off God it smells Probably because I froze them It smells like my
grandpa’s toothbrush It smells but only because
I froze them They shouldn’t be smelly raw, so And the smelliness will be gone
once they are cooked My grandpa’s toothbrush smell
is just for now Now the prep is done! He who eats locusts
cannot skip the prep process It’s just like
cooking slugs Let’s make the tempura batter Break one egg Mix it up Next, add some water Add some flower at the end Now put the locusts IN! Mix it up Wow, it looks so good already They look so good already Now let’s add some oil Turn on the heat It’s just about 150 degrees Celsius Now add the locusts Go! They’re getting fried
very peacefully Take them out Now turn up the heat Heat it up until 200 degrees Fry them up again We’re double frying them Since locusts are exoskeletons, they’re hard on the outside If we were frying them with no batter,
they would have been soft Since tempuras
cover up the outside, you need to fry them twice
and make sure to heat them thoroughly Now deep fry them until
they are golden brown If I had to compare it, it’s like deep-frying shrimp (with shell) with tempura batter So just by frying them for a longer time will make them taste good Now let’s make the sauce Add some soy sauce Sweet sake A bit of sugar Stop the heat once
