Horror Week Ep 19 | Upcoming Horror Industry News Updates & Commentary

[Music] Hey, hey, hey. [Music] nothing. [Music] [Music] You don’t [Music] Oh, [Music] heat. [Music] [Music] Hello. Hello. Hello. Welcome to Horror Week. I’m Lady Shasha,
Mistress of the Snark, Connoisseur the Gore, and your Hostess with the Mostess. You’ll have
to excuse my appearance. I had to start getting ready for bed because that’s what I’m going to
do directly after the stream because I have to   bring my grandmother to her doctor’s appointment
tomorrow. Um, so you’re getting me in my most basic of forms, but I promise you I will come back
next week with a beat face and my hair done. Um, let’s get started with greeting the chat and
we’ll go into some uh announcements and then I’m actually going to start this show with a few
Tik Toks before we get into the news stories. So, let’s see. Tom Baker says, “You snubbed me in
your last stream. I’m not understanding what I did. Can you elaborate, Tom? Doc Kaiju says,
“Hello.” Tony Man says, “All creepy colors is here in the house.” Says, “Sup.” Doc Kaiju
says, “Hi to everyone as well as to myself.” So, hi Doc Kaiju. Um, let me show you what I’ve got
going before we get into some uh what I call Well, the first one is going to be horror in real life.
Then we’ll get into some more fun stuff. But,   uh, let’s do our announcements first. In case
you missed it, this past Sunday, I did a, um, kind of compilation video retrospective
of the, you see, that’s the wrong one. There we go. Of the Nightmare on Elm Street film
series from the original Nightmare Elm Street, 1984 on up to Freddy Versus Jason. Um, I had fun
doing it. As you can see, I did several cosplays. when you get a chance, please check that out.
In addition to that, I al also recently posted a video about the best horror shop in Orlando,
which is called Atomic Horror, and it’s really uh fun place to visit. If you haven’t seen the
video, please check that one out as well. Now, coming up tomorrow, Tony Man will join me to
talk about the last two episodes of Alien Earth, as well as the first four episodes of Gen
V. So, this will be a streaming TV series um loaded episode tomorrow on what we watched
last weekend. So, again, that’s Alien Earth uh episodes 7 and 8, the finale, as well as the
beginning of season 2 of GenV, episodes 1 through 4 we will be talking about. Then on Friday, I have
another watch along and it’s going to be Abby, also known as the Black Exorcist. Definitely get
your snacks, get some something comfortable to situ or some place comfortable to sit and join
us as we watch Abby along. And then next week, I will be doing another costumeuming tutorial.
This time, we’re going to turn ourselves into Chucky, which should be a whole lot of fun.
That’s going to be next Tuesday night. So, let’s get into our first story. Uh, let me say
hello to JJ who’s in the house. Says, “Hi all.” Um, I will text you that information. I’ll let
you know, Tony, man. But yes, I could I could use an assist. Thank you. Uh, Creepy Color says, “I
went to him with my son and wife and it was good, not great.” Yeah, I I I think that um it was
pretty good myself. I think what’s happening a lot of times with people talking about movies is
they always want to say something is phenomenal,   amazing, or it’s trash. Sometimes things are
not phenomenal, nor are they trash. They’re just good. And that’s that’s just the way it
is. Everything is not amazing or horrible. There’s some things that are just good. I do
think that um him will probably become more of a cult classic. I don’t think that it’s really
um I shouldn’t say intended, but I don’t think general audiences will dig it because it’s very
artouse. Um I would put it kind of in the frame of mind of something like Video Drrome or um I’m
trying to think of more of thriller movies like Boxing Elena cuz it’s a lot more psychological
thriller than it is straight horror. And I think um the advertising did it a disservice by calling
it a horror movie that’s going to disappoint some people who are going in expecting to get boo
jump scared and that’s not the type of movie it is very much more of a psychological horror. Oh,
another great um comparison would be The Devil’s Advocate. It or something like Seven. It’s a it is
a thriller with horror elements. And I think for some reason nowadays they don’t advertise movies
as thrillers anymore. Although we had thrillers in   the in the 80s and the 90s, we had psychological
thrillers like like what I just said, The Devil’s Advocate, 7 8 millimeter. Those were thrillers. Uh
Creepolis is not cracking his top five. For mine, I’m not sure. I have to uh think it over. I don’t
know whether it’ll crack top five or not. I have   to really look and see um what my top five are
going to be because this year we have had some pretty good horror movies and the year is not over
yet. D. Kaidu says, “Hey, welcome to Shasha Mart, where we make nightmares come true.” To says,
“Or like your sister said, it was mislabeled.”   Exactly. It’s very much a psychological thriller
with elements of horror. So, if you go in knowing that and you are a fan of psychological thriller,
I think you’ll have a better time of it than if   you’re straight horror film. Also, like I said,
it’s Art House. If you’re not into art house stuff, if you’re not into um what I would call
David Lynch, Croninberg, Ari Aster, um who else? Yorgos Lathamos. Um you’re not really going to
dig this. It’s for a very specific audience, and that’s okay. Everybody’s not going to like
everything. Um so, let’s get into some Tik Toks. Uh I’m going to start with real life horror. Let
me put on my banner. A real life horror with an asterk. This is going to be an asterk only because
we we don’t know if it’s real or not. We’re just going to treat it like it’s real because I
mean that’s fun. Um, so let me add this here. update on that video that I showed you guys last
week. Um, where we uh I think it was uploaded by uh a guy in Panama. Let me slide this over and
see if we can see his name. There it is. Uh Ken Kin Panama Shop or Kin Panama is uploading these
videos of uh a creature that he he found inside of a I guess you would say like a meteor. I think you
found a meteor and then a creature started growing out of the meteor. So now we have two updates on
the creature that’s growing out of the meteor. [Music] [Music] He’s calling it an alien. Of course, he had it in
a safe. That’s the safe that he had it in. Now, he’s had to move it into this other
container. You see him removing the   cinder blocks holding the container closed, which is I believe it’s a freezer unit,
but I don’t know that it’s plugged in. Now, if this is not real, he is an
amazing uh effects artist. It could be some puppetry going on here. I don’t know.
I’m not But I think it’s creepy. [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music]   Tony man says, “Great AI.” I don’t know that
it’s AI. It possibly could be. We don’t know. Uh JJ says, “Seems like the movie
The Seed, which is on Tuby. It was reminding me of two films. Um one being
Splinter and the other being Venom. [Music] But if this is not real and he is doing
this, whether it’s puppetry or whether it’s CGI, I think he needs to make a
movie cuz he’s got talent. Hot. [Music] [Music] [Music] Kaiju says, “Doesn’t look AI to me. Hard
to blend AI scenes with real film scenes.” This   is true. That’s why I was thinking maybe puppetry
or animatronics. So then he updates us with this. This is giving this would make this I mean is
this a a found footage movie? Now it says the sample broke free. How did it break free
with those uh center blocks on top of it? Oh, he’s saying that small one broke free. You should definitely turn this into a
found footage movie. Or if you put all   these clips together, it probably
could be a found footage movie. Tony Man is insistent it’s not
real. I bet his last video,   the meteor looks at the camera. That would
be great if it if it he does that. That Kaira said could be magnets or puppetry. Really good
work and fake. I’m impressed. I agree. [Music] Oh, it’s almost. [Music] So, then we
have one more update from him after it broke free. Supposedly broke free. And this is
supposed to be it in the water. [Music] Now, this could also be puppetry. Don’t know. Or it
could just be some fish that we haven’t seen because we live in the uh in the North American
uh continent. And it could be just some fish that we don’t know about that’s in Southeast Asia or
something or that’s in South America that we just   don’t know about. I’m waiting to see if someone
says, “Oh, that’s a such and such fish. [Music] But it’s interesting. It’s only
for eight seconds this clip here,   whereas the other clips are much longer. But yeah, he should definitely if this is if this is a hoax.
Hey, he’s he is amazing at what he’s doing. Now, Doc says this one he thinks this one could be
AI. He’s agreeing with Tony Man with this one. the clip you mean? Yes, this
specific clip. Yeah. Now,   uh for something for something more
um a little bit more fun, let me There was this girl that made an interesting
declaration. I’ll let you listen to her. Have y’all ever seen a scary movie character and
thought to yourself, “Oh, I could take him.” Or,   “Oh, I could take her.” I personally think I could
take Jeepers Creepers. I’m 5 foot three of me. Like, I feel like I would have whooped his ass.
Have y’all ever seen a scary movie character and   thought to yourself, “Oh, I could take him.” Or,
“Oh, I could take her.” I personally think I could take Jeepers Creepers. All five foot three of me.
Like, I feel like I would have whooped his ass.   Have y’all? Now, she’s um about the same height
as me. I’m 5 foot three and 3/4. I do not think I take the Gibbers Creepers. Oh, by the way, shout
out to Reese’s Cup Queen or aka Mara or Yeah, I think it’s Mara, but she says that she could
take the Gibbers Creepers. If you’re watching this, even if you’re watching the replay, what
is the horror creature or slasher you think you could take? For me, I’m trying to think who
do I think I could take who is a slasher icon. The only one I could think I could probably take
if I if I’m going to use the Batman defense. If I had time to prepare, uh, probably Chucky. The
only one I could think I could take is probably Creepy color says, “I I feel like you could
do that with some fishing line possibly.” Tony Man says, “Does anyone else smell that?
It smells It smells of [ __ ] of a bull.” Oh, I get you. Like [ __ ] Uh JJ MP MB says, “Uh,
she is smoking some stuff and she thinks that.” Tony man thinks he could take Norman Bates.
Doc Kaiju says he could take Chucky. Now, what’s interesting about this is someone
responded to her. You want to see who responded. I’ll show you who responded. Us today, tomorrow, yes, the next day, and them
days after that. Period. You had the right idea, right? But the wrong [ __ ] Hello. Hello.
Cuz today, tomorrow, yes, the next day, and them days after that. Period. You probably
had the right idea, right? But the wrong [ __ ]   Hello. Hello. Cuz today, tomorrow, the
next day. This is not necessarily the actor from the movies on Tik Tok. Um, there
are people that have Tik Tok accounts. Um, multiples of them as the different slashers.
There is there’s multiple Michael Myers accounts. There’s Freddy Krueger accounts, there’s Jason
Vorhees accounts, um there’s probably Chucky, there’s there’s so many horror accounts and the
people just come on, they just have the costume   and they do the thing. And this uh particular
account is called Big Creeper 23. And so he just his account is as the Jeepers Creeper and
I thought this was a really funny response. Tony says Norman Bates was a skinny nerd.
He looks frail. Doc Kaiju also says, “Oh,   Noran Bates. Yeah, I could probably take
him.” Creepy color says, “My son said, I was built like Michael Myers, so maybe Mr.
Myers.” That’s cute. All right. And then next, we have a really cool um thing that this person
put together. Let me show you this next video. Oh, shout out to Big Creeper 23 for
posting this. That was a lot of fun. This is the world’s only uh ambulance
video store. Eric Wilson runs Emergency Movie Services. Yep. A retired ambulance
turned video store. I’m pretty sure it’s the only one. Every crevice we’ve stuffed
tapes. We have three working VCRs here. A Job Brig shrine. That’s cool. As an event
winds down, a few people gather around the familiar glow of a TV. It does take you back.
You hit the button, you hear the wheel spin, and that’s there’s something magical about that.
I’m Forest Sanders, News Channel 5. I wish they would have given This is the world look inside. Uh
ambulance video store. Eric Wilson runs emergency movie services. Yep. A retired ambulance turned
video store. I’m pretty sure it’s the only Yeah, those are just still shots. Every tape. We have
three working VCRs here. A Job Bridge. On one side winds down. A few people gather around the
familiar glow of a TV. It does take you back. You hit the button, you hear the wheels spin, and
that’s there’s something magical about that. I’m forcing. I think it’s because they have TV
cameras, and the TV cameras are quite large.   They That’s probably why they didn’t get
uh better footage of inside of the van. You could probably do better footage inside of
the van with just a cell phone camera, actually. Creepy colors does not like the newscaster’s
voice. All right. And the last one I have is some behind the scenes information about Little
Shop of Horrors. Do you remember the 1980s remake version of Little Shop of Horrors?
I used to watch it so much as a as a kid, me and my sister. And here is a little uh behind
the scenes about Audrey 2. I’ve always been blown away by how fluid the movements are of Audrey 2
in Little Shop of Horrors. The film was directed by Frank Oz. Although fun fact about that, at
one point Spielberg was actually attached as   executive producer with Martin Scorsesei of
all people attached to direct. Ultimately, the film went to Frank Oz, who was finishing up
The Muppets Take Manhattan at the time. As such,   the Jim Henson company was heavily involved.
Audrey 2 and all the iterations of the plant were designed by Lyall Conway, who also did
the puppet designs for the Muppet Show and The   Dark Crystal. Oz Conway and team struggled with
creating puppet movements that looked realistic, but stumbled upon a solution while reviewing
test footage. They realized that when the film   ran backwards or forward at a faster speed, the
movements actually looked quite natural. If they filmed the puppet at a slower than normal speed,
then sped it up in post, they could create fluid, intricate movements with natural lip syncs and a
lifelike puppet that to this day looks better than   most CGI. They slowed the frame rate to roughly 12
or 16 frames per second, depending on the scene, and strategically planned shots to minimize
the amount of screen time with actors. However,   when interaction with an actor in the same frame
was absolutely necessary, the actors actually lip-s synced lines or songs in slow motion. The
film was then sped up to the normal 24 frames per second with voices reinstated. Impressively,
there were no blue screen or CGI shots used with Audrey 2 with the exception of the ending where,
spoiler alert, the plant gets electrocuted. So, go get it. [Music] I’ve always been blown
away by that. That is great. I love that. All right. So, let’s get into
some of our news stories. Uh, let’s take this banner down of real life and
get into some random horror stories. Although, I should have had the this banner up earlier. All right. This is bringing us into
October somewhat and it is called Shudder Season of Screams. There’s a
full lineup for Shudder this October. They have a nice little uh Oh, this is coming
courtesy of Bloody Disgusting, by the way, written   by John Squires. And no, I’ll leave the Bloody
Disgusting thing up there as I read this. It says, “This year marks the landmark 10th anniversary of
Shudder. And if you were expecting an allh horror streaming service to all out for Halloween this
year, you were right on the money. Shudder is launching their Season of Screams programming

log. The new hourlong video of the chilling candle at Pumpkin sets the scene for horror fans
beginning on October 1st. live watch parties at 9:00 p.m. Eastern on Shudder TV, spotlighting new
premieres and curated double features, including um some of this is going to be past tense because
September 5th has already passed us, but that’s   okay. September 5th, The Last Drive-In with Joe
Bobriggs season 7 new episode premiere watch party titles to be announced. That is available for
rewatch. So, just look for that under Joe Bob Briggs uh when you go on Shudder. Um September
12th was Recreational Psychopaths Watch Party with Dangerous Animals and the Furies. September
19th was the Babysitters Club watch party with Night of the Reaper and Spoonful of Sugar. I
have to check out Spoonful of Sugar. I actually   watched Night of the Reaper last night and it
was pretty good, I have to tell you that. Um, I might get some time to do a um a short review of
Night of the Reaper and then I’ll post it a little bit later. Okay, where was I? Um, October 3rd,
The Last Drive-In with Joe Bob Briggs, season 7, new episode premiere, watch party. The titles are
always announced the night of uh Joe Bob Briggs um last drive-in. He usually will go on Twitter to do
a um like a teaser. He’ll give you like a hint at what the movies are, but you won’t find out the
movies until you watch the actual premiere. On October 10th, there’s Found Frights Watch Party,
which uh will show us the release of VHS Halloween and pair it with Nory the Curse. And if you have
not seen Nory the Curse, I it’s one of the few um found footage movies I really really enjoy
because I’m not a huge found footage uh person, but I do like some found footage movies. And
Norroy is um one of the ones I like. Um to give you an idea of what type of found footage
I I enjoyed, I really enjoyed Wreck. I liked   uh Ganjam, Haunted Asylum. Um what else? I like
the first three Paranormal Activity movies. Um, I did enjoy Blair W Blair Witch Project.
I have to admit to that one. Um, what other found footage I really like? There’s a recent one
that I really need to review so more people know about it, but it’s called Don’t Hang Up. And I I
really like that one quite a bit. Um, but yeah, there’s some found footage movies I I quite
enjoy. Oh, and of course the VHS collection.   Most VHS movies that I’ve seen have been pretty
good. Oh, Creepy Colors uh mentioned one that’s that is pretty good as I recall. Um as above so
below is pretty good. Yeah, I need to rewatch it. I haven’t seen it in years. Tony Man says,
“Do not enter.” That’s another one also known as   uh Noas. I think it’s called Noas in Spanish, but
yeah, that one’s a pretty good one as well. Um where was I? October 17th, Spotlight on Director
Moro triple feature watch party. Um, and the triple feature is Other Mads and Them. October
19th, Fangoria Chainsaw Awards watch Party. Um, that sounds cool. October 30th, Hell House LLC
watch Party. All five films, including Hell House LLC Lineage, will be available on Shudder.
October 31st is the Trickor Treat Watch Party in which they will be playing Halloween 1978
as well as Deadstream. Uh, it’s another film   footage I like. I really enjoyed Deadstream.
I I highly recommend it. November 1st, Day of the Dead watch party and they will be playing
Day of the Dead. Shutter’s popular Halloween hotline to be announced says whether viewers
are looking for a slatcherfill, ghost story, or a monster flick, Samuel Zimmerman, head of
programming for Shudder, will be on hand to offer personalized picks for a perfectly scary weekend
based on each caller’s mood and preference. They’ve also done a little bit of um a trailer. But before I get to the trailer, there’s also
some new films that they have here. Um new films   premiering on October 3rd. A collection
of Halloween themed video tapes unleashes a series of twisted blood soaks tales turning
trick-or- treat into a a struggle for survival. The six segments are as follows. Diet Fantasma
directed by Brian M. Ferguson. Funsize directed by Casper Kelly. Home Haunt directed by uh Micheline
Pit Norman and RH Norman. Kidprint directed by Alex Ross Perry. Utra seek infa directed by Paco
Plaza. And Coochie Cuchi directed by Anna Sllocic. other is a is an a shutter original film they want
you to notice. Um and Joe not much extra stuff for Joe Bob Splatterin other than uh Gu will be there
and of course Hellhouse LLC Lineage will premiere on Thursday October 30th. All right, let’s
check out the trailer because they did drop a we go. And let’s check out our seasons. All right, here we go. Oh, Tony man was asking me
uh something uh regarding Night of the Reaper uh asking did I like the twist. Yes, I did. Just
when I was thinking uh something negatively about the movie, the twist happened and completely
recontextualized events that happened earlier in the movie and I was like, “Oh, that’s why.”
Okay. Yeah, I I dug that. Thank you. So, let’s check out the trailer or teaser rather
for Season of Screams on Shudder. Shudder, the number one stream service for horror
fans, unleashes Season of Screams. Let the mayhem begin. Four months of new originals.
Evil is real and exclusive premieres. I was supposed to die every week for the rest of
the year. Death, death, and more death. Okay, we got some momentum. Season of screams.
Screaming now. I like that they said every week for the rest of the year. So that takes us
all the way through November and December, which   is cool. You guys want to see it again? It’s so
short. Let me play it again. It was really short. Shudder, the number one streaming service for
horror fans, unleashes season of screams. Let the mayhem begin. Four months of new
originals. Evil is real and exclusive premieres. I was supposed to die. Every
week for the rest of the year. Death, death, and more death. Okay, we got some
momentum. Season of Screams. Screaming now. So, what do you guys think? I have not seen the creep tapes.
Uh, creepy colors. He asked, “Is the creep tapes good?” I think Tony Man
has seen creep tapes. What did you think? Okay, while you guys are answering that question,
I have an article from the go and it’s written by uh the go staff, which I hope is not AI. I
hope that it’s actually a co-production of staff members. But let’s get into it. Marlon
Ways defends him movie after low Rotten Tomato score. The actor and producer says the true
test for a Jordan Peele produced horror film co-starring Tyreek Withers will be how
audiences respond. Go see for yourself. He says uh and this picture of him, let
me scroll that up so you guys can see,   is at the Los Angeles, California premiere. Marlon
Wnes is responding to the mixed critical reception of him with perspective. The actor and producer
took to social media to acknowledge the the film’s low Rotten Tomato score while reminding fans that
critics don’t always define a movie’s legacy. I respect crit critics. Weighins wrote, “Their job
is to critique. I respect their work. It shapes our industry, but an opinion does not always mean
it’s everyone’s opinion. Some movies are ahead of the curve. Innovation is not always embraced
and art is to be interpreted and is subjective. I’ve had a career of making classic movies that
weren’t critically received and those movies went   on to be classics. So don’t uh so don’t take
anyone’s opinion. Just go see it for yourself. Love to all him in theaters now. And I would
actually have to agree with him because one of his previous films was not a um if I recall
correctly was not a critical darling but is um a classic film and that’s Reququum for a Dream.
I don’t think Reququum from a Dream was very well um regard critics but it became a cult classic. I
want to know two other horror films that are not um or I should say were not critically received
well but are now classics. John Carpenter’s a thing. Not only was the was it a critical bomb, it
was also a box office bomb. John Carpenters of the Thing um completely tanked at the box office. And
another one that was not critically uh beloved, although I think it did better at the box office
than John Carmen’s a thing. Poltergeist. Go back   and look up some of the reviews for Poltergeist.
Not positive. But uh I digress. Let’s continue. Alongside his statement, Wayne posted
screenshots of past Rotten Tomato scores   for some of his biggest films, including White
Chicks, which only got 15% on Rotten Tomatoes. Don’t be a menacing South Central while
drinking your juice in a hood, got a 32%   on Rotten Tomatoes, and Scary Movie 2 got a
13% on Rotten Tomatoes. Each of those movies, initially dismissed by critics, went on to become
fan favorites and cult classics. This is true. Wayne’s latest role in him is a dramatic turn. The Monkey Paul production from Oscar winner
Jordan. The fact that they will not mention   the director’s name. The direct director is Justin
Justin Tipping. Every time you say Jordan Peele, I’m going to mention Justin Tipping because it’s
really annoying me that you’re not you’re you’re   mentioning the producers’s name and not the
director’s name. And that’s really irritating my life. So, I’m going to add director Justin
Tipping’s name into this article since people keep trying to ignore it. Wayne’s latest role in him
is a dramatic turn. The Monkey Paw Paw production from Oscar winning winner Jordan Peele and
director Justin Tipping cast him as Isaiah White, an eight-time championship quarterback who offers
This is irritating me, Grio. your your site keeps jumping up and down because of pi pop-ups and is
really irritating. Um, cast him as Isaiah White, an eight-time championship quarterback who offers
to train rising football star Cameron Cade, played by Tyreek Withers, after a life-threatening attack
derails his career. What begins as a lifeline quickly unravels into a descent into psychological
and body horror at Isaiah’s isolated compound, which he shares with his influencer wife, Elsie,
played by Julia Fox. And again, they have a picture here of Marlon Ways with the producer, um,
Jordan Peele, but where’s the picture of Justin Tipping, the actual director? It’s really that’s
that’s not cool. Anyways, Tyreek Withers, who stars alongside Ways, credits him with inspiring
him to bring his best self to screen, calling it direct correlation with what I was experienced
as an actor, cast into a big studio film, being opposite an iconic actor like Marlin Wayins
in an interview with the go. So, I think the that preparation whipped me into shape like, okay, I
have something to prove. I want to show up and I   want to do a good job. Finally, they mentioned a
director directed by Justin Temping and co-written with Zack uh Acres and Skip Bronkey. The film
pushes the boundaries of sports and horror as well as thriller because this is a psychological
thriller. This is part of the reason why it’s   getting the reception is getting you’re you’re
selling it to the wrong audience. Stop selling it to the horror audience and sell it to the thriller
audience. I think fans of thrillers will enjoy   this. So, here we go. Um, the film pushes the
boundaries of sports and they’re saying horror, I’m saying psych psychological thriller with
a supporting cast that includes Tim Haidker, Jim Jeff, Maurice Green, Goop Dodd 4000, and
Tiierra Wack. Him the movie opened in theaters last night. Of course, this is past tense because
this this article um is from last week, but that is okay. Let me see what you guys are saying in
the comments. Doc Kaiju says, “I know their stream for it is tomorrow, but without giving spoilers,
I have to say the Alien Earth finale gave me blue ball bearings.” Thanks. Tony Man says, “I
didn’t hear the question. My phone fell.” The question is in the stream, Tony Man. Uh, someone
asks, Creepy Colors asks, “Is Creep Tapes good?” Okay, so let’s get into our next story. So, I got to do the thing, the ad thing. Let
me do this. Let’s do the pause on this site and then reload it. There we go. So, we have here from
movie web written by James Melzer. headline reads, “Neil Marshall’s comments on The Descent 3
give horror fans a shred of hope. 20 years ago, one of the century’s best horror movies
was unleashed on an unsuspecting audience   and would subsequently go on to become one
of the most influential films of the 2000s. Written and directed by Neil Marshall, it
subverted some of the usual genre tropes to to deliver a fresh and exciting survival
thriller that was as intense as it was gruesome. While a subpar sequel came along
four years later, we finally have an update on the longtalked about third entry that will
bring closure to the series once and for all. We’re talking, of course, about The Descent.
Marshall’s 2005 horror film that featured an all female cast who entered an uncharted cave
system and find themselves at the mercy of the monstrous abom abominations inside. It was
truly a groundbreaking piece of art at the time that turned the genre on its head by creating a
realistic psychological survival movie that dared not to to reveal the real threat until audiences
were already fraught with anxiety due to the film’s claustrophobic nature. Widely regarded
as one of the best horror movies ever made, The Descent 2 came along in 2009. And
while it didn’t necessarily tarnish the   reputation of the first outing, it wasn’t
exactly the sequel everyone was hoping for. Rumors of a third film have been buzzing
around Hollywood for more than a decade   now. And thanks to the recent interview with
Marshall, we finally have an idea of what The Descent 3 might look like should it ever
come to fruition. Speaking with Metro UK, the director shared that if the film were to
open, he’d be back behind the camera to take   charge of things, saying, quote, “I can definitely
see it happening.” It was then that he would go on to share that the idea of it being a prequel
has been percolating in his mind for a while. Quote, “It’s something I think would
be good to wrap up the story. So many   other franchises have been exploited over the
years, but nothing has really happened with The Descent. I’ve got a few ideas. The trend
seems to be prequels. I was always interested in finding out what happened to the miners
who went down the f with the first cave. Then they go on to say why horror fans should
care about Marshall’s comments on the Descent   3. And they have a secondary image here
with Shawn McDonald as Derek Carter in The Descent. The idea of another Descent movie is
already enough to get us excited, but even more intriguing is the idea of Marshall back in the
director’s chair. Nothing against John Harris, but The Descent 2 just didn’t do it for us.
So, to know that the creator of the series   will be heavily involved in the third movie
to bring things uh full circle is a huge step forward. Let me change this banner because
this isn’t just random horror news. This has   come. I’m going to change that to upcoming
horror because this sounds more definite. Marshall’s idea for a sequel is also one that has
us excited as we’ve long wondered what happened down in the cave system before Sarah Juno and
the rest of the gang went on their disastrous uh spelunking adventure. A prequel could even
work as a period piece to shed some light on the miners and maybe even give us more insight
into the crawlers who Marshall has said in the past are separate species of humans who became
trapped underground thousands of years ago. Yes, we know prequels don’t always work, but with his
guidance and creativity, we’re almost positive that this one could be above the rest. All that
being said, it seems like The Descent 3 is still a long way from happening. So, don’t get your
hopes up too high just yet. Marshall shared   the news last year on his Instagram account.
And he’s currently working on a werewolf movie titled Werewolves of London, which came after
the sad announcement that he was unable to make Dog Soldiers 2 due to rights due to a rights
issue. The status of his new flick remains uncertain at the moment, but word also broke
earlier this year that he’s got another action   horror film titled Gun on the horizon, which
is already cast Outlander star Graham McTavish. As we await more news, you can check out
The Descent streaming now for free on the   Roku channel and Fandango at home and look
for a beautiful 4K restoration of the horror classic to hit home in the near future. So,
what do you guys think of The Descent as well as The Descent 2? And would you prefer
Descent 3 or a prequel to The Descent? All right, let’s go into our next story
here about another horror franchise. Before I do that, let me check the comments.
Toamman says, “I enjoyed creep tapes. Mark Duplass is a great actor.” Doc Kaiju says, “I have a
confession.” And they say, “A bit over a year ago, I was on Lexapro for anxiety, but had inconsistent
health insurance and had to go without sometimes. When I had to go without, I would go a bit
crazy and become verbally aggressive. And I kind of accused the makers of the Descent of
ripping off the author of the book by the same name. Turned out they were just both inspired by
the same stuff.” Ah, I see. Yeah, that can be a difficult thing especially in the US the way the
health care system is. It can be very difficult um going on and off your medicine. Do says uh during
that time I cyber bullied the main actress about it and she blocked me. Oh wow, that’s terrible.
Tony man says about the Descent 2 was Matt. I’d rather see a prequel because they mentioned
the miners when they crossed the gap. Mhm. Okay. So, this is from uh Yahoo Entertainment
and it’s written by Brandon Sher Shrier. Headline reads, “Popular horror franchise is
rebooted. Will star Justin Long. A popular horror franchise is getting rebooted with
Justin Long. Long has starred in a number   of horror movies throughout his career, including
2001’s Jeepers Creepers, 2009’s Drag Me to Hell, 2014’s Tusk, 2022’s Barbarian, 2023’s It’s a
Wonderful Knife, and more. He’ll soon be seen in a vampire cop movie titled Night Patrol, which
will be released in theaters next July. Also, minor spoiler review. Justin Long
does show up in the movie Weapons. Long has starred in a number of horror movies
throughout his career. Oh, wait. I already read   that part. Sorry about that. Um, what popular
horror franchise is being rebooted with Justin Long? Per Variety, Long is now attached to star in
a reboot of Grave Encounters. He’s also producing the movie alongside his wife Kate Bosworth.
Released in 2011, Grave Encounters is a Canadian found footage movie written and directed by Colin
Minhan and Stuart Ortiz, also known as The Vicious Brothers. It stars Shawn Roerson, Ashley Greco,
Merwin uh Mandazir, and McKenzie Gray. Quote, “A reality show crew filming inside an abandoned
mental hospital realizes that the building is not only haunted, but isn’t going to let them
leave.” A description of the movie reads,   “While Grave Encounters wasn’t a huge hit
at the box office the time of its release, it’s since accumulating a cult following.” A
sequel, Grave Encounters 2, was released in 2012, where there were also plans for a third movie that
ultimately never came to fruition. Minihan and Ortiz are developing the new Grave Encounters
movie. They will also serve as producers, as will Shan uh Angelki. quote, “Our creative
connection with Colin was undeniable on Coyotes, and we wanted to continue that relationship as
quickly as possible.” Long and Bosworth said in   a statement, “He is an a very rare combination
of brilliant filmmaker and fun collaborator, and we are thrilled to help him resurrect a new
imagining of one of his first horror gems, Grave Encounters. Grave Encounters has such a passionate
fan base, and we include ourselves among them. We hope to honor the legacy of the original film
while unleashing something even darker. Production is expected to begin next year. A release date
has not yet been set. The uh postpopular horror franchises being rebooted will star Justin Long
appeared first on coming soon.net uh-mov trailers, TV and streaming news and more. This What the
heck is that? Something floating in the air. Uh, Doc says, “I tried apologizing later
but was blocked.” Oh, and rightfully so. Uh, Tom Baker says, “Justin Long convinced Sam Ramy.
Please convince Sam Ramy to make drag me to hell, too.” And he continues, “Still
waiting, Sam.” Doc Hydra says,   “But yeah, those meds did a lot of damage to
my life in general.” Shake my head. I’m better with the green kind of medicine. I do have
to somewhat agree with that sometimes. Um, especially with people who deal with anxiety as
I have uh in the past and still currently do. Uh, people have dealt with depression as well as
uh bipolar. A lot of times it can take three or four different um medications before you find
one that calibrates with your system better. Um, with me that happened with both anti-anxieties,
anti-depressants, mood stabiliz mood stabilizers as well as ADHD medicine. And I ended up having to
wean myself off of medicines while simultaneously attending cognitive behavioral therapy because
I do not advise weaning yourself off of medicine um without assistance because you can throw your
body out of whack. can experience um even uh further damage if you don’t if you aren’t assisted
um if possible cuz like I said in US sometimes people don’t have the medical insurance or access
to medical insurance so that allows them to do that but if you have access I highly recommend
if you want to wean yourself off that you are doing so with the assistance of your medical
doctor as well as your psychiatrist and what I ended up having to do was attend I did years
and years of therapy, but I think uh switching over to cognitive behavioral therapy really really
helped. Another thing that can also be of issue that is not brought up, especially specifically
when it comes to women of color in America, is checking your blood. Because sometimes you can
be misdiagnosed with uh psychiatric symptoms that actually are coming from a um blood deficiency. If
you have an iron deficiency, you can have symptoms of lethargy and depression. Um, if you have
a vitamin D deficiency, vitamin B deficiency, a lot of times they will not automatically check
your blood unless you request that you have your blood checked to see if you have any deficiencies
that can cause these different symptoms. So, it’s very very important to note
that. Okay. Now, where was I? Uh, creepy color says there’s too many horror
movies, lol. I like to watch two a night and   never seen Grave. Oh, you haven’t seen Grave
Encounters? You should check them out. Um, they are another set of uh found footage
movies I found very enjoyable. Um,   like I said earlier at the show of the show, not
everything is amazing or trash. Some things are just all right. That’s how I feel about Grave
Encounters. It was just all right. Not bad,   not amazing, just all right. BC is in the
house. He says, “What’s up?” Tony says, “Remember when I was on Lexapro? I stopped it
cold turkey. It was a nightmare for the first   four days, but it got better. Yeah, that’s
why a lot of times you have to slowly wean yourself off. You can’t just go cold turkey
cuz it could throw your body into shock. But again, like I said, always check with
your doctor. I am not a medical profession   professional. These are just my experiences that
I’m hope I’m sharing so that it may help someone else, not, you know, medical advice. I have to
say that. All right. What do we have next here under upcoming horror? We have another reboot and
it’s very interesting who is about to reboot this. All right, here this is courtesy of Deadline
Entertainment written by Matt Grober. And it says here Kenan Thompson’s AFA developing
reimagining of 80s slasher Sleepaway Camp and it’s under uh film
acquisition. So let’s get into it. Get that off the screen. There we go. Exclusive
AFA, the production company and talent incubator of Keenan Thompson and John Ryan Jr. has
acquired remake rights to Sleepaway Camp, the cult classic 80s slasher from writer director
Robert Hillzik. Specifics as to AFA’s take on the material are under wraps for now, but AFA has
placed Hillzik back at the helm to direct from his own script. While for decades and his wife
have been approached for rights to the franchise, they’ve held out in hopes of a scenario where they
can be involved in revitalizing the franchise. to Thompson and Ryan Jr. whose AFA places an emphasis
on keeping creative control and ownership with the artist, keeping the original architects of the
franchise at the forefront of its evolution is a given. Released in 1983, Sleepaway Camp is a
low-budget summer camp slasher. And there goes the popup. So, if you don’t get off my screen,
here we go. Released in 1983, Sleepway Camp is a low-budget summer camp slasher in which a shy teen
summer at Camp Arowak turns deadly as campers are murdered one by one. Film plays like a who done it
in the Friday the 13th mold and is famous for an iconic twisty finale. Hills Hiltzik, I think
that’s how you pronounce it. Hiltik shot it at Camp Alongquin in Argyle, New York, which he
attended as a kid. Made for roughly $350,000 with a cast of unknowns. The film grossed around
11 million and has endured as a cult favorite, spurring a number of sequels spanning decades.
Michael A. Simpson took the reigns on sequel Sleepaway Camp 2, Unhappy Campers, in 1988
and Sleepaway Camp 3, Teenage Wasteland, in 1989, which starred Pamela Springsteen.
Yes, Bruce’s sister. Hildig returned for 2008’s return to Sleepway Camp with Jim Marovic
helming 2012 Sleepway Camp 4, The Survivor. No stranger to summer camp, having starred
opposite Ben Stiller and the seven I’m sorry, in the Steven Bril and Job Abato P I can’t say
his name. in the Steven Bril and Jud take three. No stranger to summer camp, having starred
opposite Ben Stiller in the Steven Bril and Jud Appal pinned kids classic heavyweights at
the start of his career. Thompson will produce the reimagining for AFA alongside Ryan Jr. with
Robinson Velasco, Monica Weber, Corey Litwin, and Borisart’s executive producing. Development
on the script is underway now with the project marking AFA’s first since exiting their three-year
overall deal at Universal. Development is made possible by a new strategic partnership and
investment from Spart negotiated by Corey Litwin of Range Media Partners, which reps AFA.
Range Select will handle sales on the project. In a statement to Deadline, Hilds said, quote, I
am both thrilled and humbled to be working with AFA on the reimagining of Sleepaway Camp.
Though I have been approached by several companies regarding the rem of Sleepaway Camp,
only AFA has shared my vision and is excited   to have me helm the film, therefore preserving
the integrity of the original film for the fans, as well as introducing Sleepway Camp to a whole
new generation. Be prepared for a new member of the Sleepway Camp family. Thompson told us quote
excited to work with the original genius Robert and bring back the life a bring back to life a
classic Ryan Jr. meanwhile teased this is only the beginning. Kenan and I always say we’re fans
first and this couldn’t be more on brand for us. Thompson’s partner added, “I’ve been obsessed with
the Sleepway Camp franchise since I was a kid.   We’ve wanted this title for 20 years and we’re
over the moon Robert came back to write it. We’re staying true to the OG story while Robert adding
in some insane new twists. We’re going crazy with the merch, too. Founded in 2021, AFA was Emmy
nominated for Olympic Highlights with Kevin Hart and Keenan Thompson and won a Kids Choice
Award for Fan Film of the Year on Good Burger 2. Thompson, a six-time Emmy nominee and the
longest tenur cast member of Saturday Night Live, continues to balance comedy and producing efforts
through AFA alongside veteran manager and producer Ryan Jr. on his work with AFA. Ranges uh Litwin
told us, “Johnny and Keenan are beyond impressive in their talent, character, and hustle. We’ve
been looking for the right people to team up as we launch and expand our careers as producers
and investors in the film space. What they’ve built with AFA and their entire slate of projects,
including Sleepway Camp, is incredible. Boris and I couldn’t be more excited to partner with them.
Stay tuned. And that’s the end of that. Now, for my thoughts, I do not think you should
remake Sleep Away Camp. I don’t think it’s possible for you to remake Sleep Sleepweight Cam
and do it justice. Um, it’s it occupies a certain space and time. It’s very much of its time. The
ending is iconic and it has that uncanny valleyish umness to it due to without spoiling it um
a certain method that they used I’ll say a certain special effects technique method that
they use that made it very uncanny valleyish. Um and it’s creepy because of that. And I I don’t
think you can recreate that. I really don’t. I just yeah I it’s for me
I just cannot see it being anything up to the standard of the
original. I feel like the original   just is kind of special in its own way and I
don’t think I don’t think you can make that lightning strike twice. Uh let me see
what you guys are saying in the chat. Uh Tony Man says, “I love how Grave Encounters was
just all right, but Gundam Haunt Hanum Asylum was really good. It’s the same movie almost. It’s not
just about the story, it’s about the execution. I kind of felt more into Ganjam than I did u Grave
Encounters. Um I think it’s because on the front end of Ganjam, you got to know the characters
a little bit, like when they went to lunch and   then when they were traveling. um to the the
place I felt like like you got to know them more. But who knows? Maybe I need to rewatch um
Grave Encounters. Maybe I I was too harsh on it cuz they both are similar, but Grave Encounters
plays more like a parody of Ghost Adventures. Also could be um because of the the special
effects for uh Grave Encounters don’t hold up to me. I feel like they just they don’t age
well. Creepy color says, “How are they going to remake this movie in 2025? The scary twist is that
you see you just spoiled it.” Um, yeah, but it’s it’s the character can be read as two different
two different ways because their transition was involuntary. Um, it kind of reads as an allegory
for a and this is not my original idea. This is I I had read a blog post from a trans person who was
who was giving their initial um thoughts on sleep awake camp and the trans person was saying that it
could read as an allegory for when a trans person is is is forced to not transition and how how um
horrific that is. I’m not saying it as eloquently as the person who wrote it. And I wish I could
uh bring to mind the person’s name and point   you to the article, but um if you could find um
different trans people’s take on Sleepway Camp, it’s very interesting to read. So definitely check
that out. Also, the kills are pretty great in Sleepway Camp. I love the kills in that movie. Uh
BC says, “The ending to that movie blew my mind.” Yes. Creepy color says, “That scream at the end
is chilling.” Yeah, what’s chilling about that   ending scene? Not only is the scream is I’m since
Big Chung has already spoiled it. I’m just going to say uh I was trying not to spoil it, but the
ending scene gives you that uncanny valley because um they the body of the person is one person
and the face is an actual plaster cast of uh Felissa Felissa Rose’s face. And so that’s
what makes it so uncanny valleyish because it almost looks like the the the face doesn’t go with
the body, but it’s intentional because they used a plaster cast of one person’s face on another
person’s body and it just doesn’t align. So it it your brain starts going, “Wait a minute,
these two things don’t go together and that’s what makes it kind of a little bit creepy um to a
certain to a certain extent.” Uh Tom Baker says, “You mean the ending is like the crying game?”
Um, you could I could see where the comparison could be there. Uh, Fing Lighty says, “I think the
reboot of Sleepway Camp might be a misstep.” Yeah,   I just don’t feel like they could do it justice
today. I could be wrong. I would be happy to be wrong. Tony Man says, “Probably make the killer
a unic.” Um, BC says, “I don’t think Angela was screaming. It was more like a growl.” Yeah.
Yeah. Yeah. I think you’re right. It was more   of a growl. Creepy color says, “Yeah, more
of a growl.” Doc Hydra says, “Uh, do how do the Gundams fit into the other side?” No, it’s
not Gundam. It’s Gunjam. I’ll type it into the chat. It’s Gu J I A M. Gunjam. I hope I spelled
that right. Gunjam Asylum. Um, but funny joke. Uh BC says that movie has a lot of funny parts
also. Yeah, it does. Uh speaking of Sleepwakeway Cam, it’s very tongue and cheek. Uh Doc Kaiju
says they did really cool things with lighting in the original that don’t translate well to HD.
Yes, I have to agree with that, too. And there’s   a little bit of camp there because I think
Angela’s aunt is meant to be slightly campy. Uh Tony says, “By the way, Buffalo Bill,
the actual actor, plays him again, is in the uh boost commercial. There’s a family in
a pit and he’s dangling a cell phone on the rope. It’s hilarious.” Oh, I have not seen
that. Yeah, BC, you you spoiled. Tony Man says, “Afraid of spoiling 42-year-old movie, lol. I
still want the youngans to get enjoyment out   of it.” And I feel like the twist is is great
when you don’t know it. It really is. You can’t recreate that. Doc Kaiser says a little girl had a
grown man’s body, lol. Uh Joe Bob Briggs said the male actor cried after and requested uh to and
has stayed anonymous all this time. Well, yeah, he showed his whole peen on screen. Maybe
he didn’t want to. Maybe he thought about,   oh shoot, for the rest of my life,
everyone’s going to have seen my penis on in a film and everybody may
not be um prepared for that reality. All right. Is that the end of my uh upcoming
horror? Let me see. Do I have another upcoming   horror story? Yes, we do have one more. And
this one, tonight is the night of should we do this? What is it that Jeff Goldblum says in in um
Jurassic Park? You were so concerned with whether you could do something, you didn’t take the time
to think of whether you should do something. And along along the lines of that, we get into our
next story. This is also by Bloody Disgusting, written by John Squires. Title reads, “The hand
that rocks the cradle trailer. Michael Monroe and Mary Elizabeth Winstead remake a ‘9s thriller.”
This is another one I do not know whether they can recapture the spirit of the original Hand
That Rocks the Cradle, but let’s see here. Micah Monroe, which we know from Long Legs. We also know
her from It Follows and Mary Elizabeth Winstead, which we know from Birds of Prey, but I know
her more from uh Death Proof as well as um Cloverfield. What was it? Clover 10 Cloverfield
Lane, I think it was called or something like   that. she was in lead the cast of Hulu’s The
Hand That Rocks the Cradle, a fresh new take on the classic 1990s thriller from director
Michael Garza Ca uh who did uh Huera, I can’t say it. Huera, the Bone Woman. There actually
was a Handed Rocks to Cradle unofficial remake, but it was a black film. I can’t remember the
title. Let me see if I can find it on here. black thriller movie that is similar to The Hand That
Rocks the Cradle. Let’s see if Google can find it. They’re saying The Perfect Stranger, but
it wasn’t The Perfect Stranger. There was   another black thriller. I remember it,
but I can’t remember the name of it. That’s going to bug me. Hopefully,
if anyone’s watching this on a replay   and you know what movie I’m talking about,
please put it in the comment section, there was a black thriller movie that had a similar
storyline to The Hand That Rocks the Cradle,   but I cannot remember the title of it for the
life of me. But let’s get back to this article. Okay. The new movie premieres October 22nd on
Hulu. Mary Elizabeth Winstead stars as Caitlyn Morales. How is she gonna play a mor Okay. Go
ahead. An upscale suburban mom who brings a new nanny Polly um Murphy uh who’s played by
Micah Monroe into her home only to discover she is not the person she claims to be. Watch the
trailer for the hand that rocks the cradle below. Raul Castillo, Martin Star, uh Malayaia Vega,
Ricky Lindholm, and Shannon Cochran allstar. The Hand That Rocks The Cradle is written by
Micah Bloomberg based on a screenplay by Amanda Silver. The producers are Michael Schaefer, Mike
Laroka, and Tedfield. And the executive producers producers are Michael Naol. Ah, this is giving
me tongue tied. Michael Napoleo, Maria Fisk, and Seth William Mayor. Quote, “The studio gave
me all the chances to recreate the whole thing and build a new story, new characters with
its own heart. I think that was the best way to honor the original, not to try to redo
it.” Uh Michelle Garza Sea told people, “We build a whole different kind of thriller.”
And they’ve got here, I’ll show you the poster, the hand that rocks the cradle. And it says,
“Good help is hard to find.” And what we’ll do is let me come out of here and go back in so we
can check out the trailer. I’m still not feeling great about it. I mean, we’re just going to
we’re going to do what we’re going to do. Especially since this year, we’ve had so
many great um original horrors. I I hate to see that we’re doing more doing
these remakes and reboots yet again. But we will check out the trailer. Bring this up here. All right, here we go. Hey,
we’re considering hiring Paulie Murphy as a nanny and I was curious about your experience with her.
She’s amazing. Really became a part of our family. [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Music] So, she already beating herself against
the head to try to frame somebody. What do you know about her besides what she’s
told you? You’re wearing my dress. Yeah. You don’t see what’s been I hate the
color grading on this. Could we stop   with the muted stuff? It’s really I hate it.
They go into her room. They’re in there for hours. You’re struggling again. Is there
something wrong with my mom? She’s sad. Doesn’t hurt yourself. Your mom’s pretending to be
someone else. [Music] Who is she? Okay. So, if we’re going to change the story,   why not just change the name?
Just make it its own thing. Annoyed. I know you’re their friend, but this feels like
my house. Sucking fingers. Emergency. Emergency. You’re my favorite. I’m going with her. What
I want is for you to rot in hell. You know what? I kind of think the thrillers that I’ve
been watching on give more well, they’re more original. That’s for one thing. Except for the
ones when they do do a remake or a reimagining. They change something about it. Like they change
the stepfather into the stepmother. Like those are   kind of fun. Even though they’re not good. I’m I’m
never going to say that that the stepmother movies are good, but they are fun. Maybe this one will
be fun, too. I I will reserve judgment. I just feel like just make it its own thing instead
of just calling the hand that rocks cradle. [Music] You think if you try
hard enough, [Music] you can stop bad things from happening,
but you can’t. [Music] [Applause] Did she just rub her breast? Did she
just sexually assault the mama? She went from touching her hand to Let
me see. Let me see. Am I putting 20   on 10 or she the way she moved her
hand? Let me see. Let me go back. Yeah, cuz her shirt moved slightly.
I don’t know whether it’s meant to be   like that or not. It’s a little gray for
me. Let me see what you guys are saying. Creepy color says, “And George Castanza.” Yes.
Uh George Castanza was in the original Sleepaway Camp. What’s crazy about it is he was only
18 years old in Sleepaway Camp, but he looks much older. But he always has looked much older.
Another fun fact, the first season of Seinfeld, the actor that plays George Castanza was 28 years
old. Can you imagine looking like that at 28? That is wild. But what’s funny, what’s funny is even
though it’s been 30 years, he probably looks the same now. Like he probably looks the same now
as he did at 28, but he just prematurely looked like that at 28. But I think Steve Martin is
like that too. His hair went gray at like 23   24. It’s wild. BC says, “Leave the classics
alone. Come up with new ideas.” Tom Baker asks, “Is Good Boy out yet?” He also says, “The ghost
movie from the dog’s perspective? I want to see it. I hope it’s good.” Tony man says, “Wasn’t
it called Obsessed? Beyonce was in it.” No, Obsessed is more like um that’s the
that’s kind of the black version of   um uh Fatal Attraction. Obsessed definitely goes
with Fatal Attraction. Um The Perfect Stranger. I can’t think of the counterpart to The
Perfect Stranger, but there there has   been a single white female as far as well as
a single black female. But there was another movie where it was like The Hand That Rocks
the Cradle where the woman was the nanny and um she tries to get the husband and she tries to
get rid of the wife and she tries to be pregnant.   It was all the same things, all the same beats as
The Hand It Rocks the Cradle, but it was a black film. Um maybe it was around 2007, 2009ish, but
I cannot recall the name of it. Tom Baker says, “Dogs are my life.” Tony Man says, “Look up cell
phone bill.” That’s the commercial. Okay. Uh, faux Mickey light says, “This seems
unnecessarily freaky.” Yeah. BC says,   “Has anyone seen the new trailer to OD?” Not
a movie. It not a movie. It It’s a game. Looks so good. No, I haven’t seen it yet. Um, but I
have to get through these last few things and get out of here cuz remember I I got to get
up in the morning, y’all. So, unfortunately,   the show is not going to be as long as it
usually is. Uh, let’s see here. That’s upcoming horror. We have some physical media and collect
collectibles news. So, let me take this down. Let me remove that and we will
get into our physical media and   collectibles. Hopefully, you guys will enjoy this. Okay. So, what we have here is uh coming from
Bloody Disgusting and it’s written by Megan Navaro. Headline reads Jacob’s ladder new 4K
restoration to get national theatrical release. Interesting. Interesting. Interesting. So that’s
not fit. That is okay. So this is both physical uh media as well as upcoming horror because um
I’m assuming before I read the article that the 4K release will become available disc format.
But it’s interesting finding out that this will   be a theatrical release as well. Director Adrien
Lynn’s highly influential psychological horror movie Jacob’s Ladder is getting a brand new
4K restoration that’s heading to theaters this Halloween season. This is another good comparison
parallel to him. I don’t think a lot of people liked Jacob’s Ladder when it came out and only a
certain audience likes Jacob’s Ladder and I think   that the same thing is going to happen with him.
Only a certain audience is going to like him. Now, where was I? The 4K restoration is set to make
its world premiere at the American Cinematic Beyond Fest in Los Angeles on September 28th
before opening at the IFC Center in New York City on Friday, October 3rd with a national roll
out to follow. In Jacob’s Latter, Jacob Singer, played by Tim Robbins, uh, a Vietnam vet war
veteran plagued with troubling hallucinations and traumatic flashbacks, struggles to maintain
his sanity as his terrible past invades his waking life. As girlfriend Jezie, Elizabeth Pñena,
and chiropractor friend Lewis, played by Danny Ayelloo, try to help him find balance, Jacob
only descends further into madness and despair. Fun fact about Tim Robbins, his son um did a great
job in this movie called Daniel Isn’t Real. Um he did a really great job. It’s Tim Robbins son
and Arnold Schwarzenegger’s son in the in the movie. It’s also a psychological horror really
great film. Really, really great film. Highly recommend it. Two Oops. Highly recommended to
people who like psychological horror films. All right. Written by Academy Award-winning
screenwriter Bruce Joel Rubin, who also wrote Ghost, Lynn’s psychological horror movie
presents a mind-bending look at the horrible effects of war on the human psyche. Time and
reality distort through increasingly surreal images that torment Jacob. Twisted nightmare
sequences are full of fast twitching entities amid settings that stretch normality, pervading
his waking life and signaling that something’s deeply a miss. As Jacob’s reality untethers
further, the more Jacob’s paranoia mounts, the more horrific the imagery. Jacob’s Ladder
also stars Ving Reigns, Jason Alexander, Eric Lel, Puit, Taylor Vince, and an uncredited
McCaulay Culkin. Featuring music by Maurice Jar from Lawrence of Arabia and Dr. Jivago. Jason
Alexander, that is the actor’s name that played George Cassanzi for always forget his real
name, but his name is Jason Alexander. This 4K   restoration rolling out nationwide was completed
by Roundabout USA from the original negative, scanned and restored in 4K. The color grading and
restoration were supervised by Adrien Lynn. This project was brought to you by Studio Canal and
supervised by Deline Rousel and Jean Pierre Ber. While we wait for details on the film’s full
theatrical release schedule, watch the new trailer for the 4K restoration along with the
new poster below. Okay, let’s see the new poster. Uh, it’s okay. I don’t love the poster,   but it’s all right. And let’s
see what the trailer is giving. We’re going to X out of that and come back in. Okay. [Music] F. How come you’re so tense today? What? It looks super super
clean. Sharp. [Music] [Applause] They’re like demons. Jazz, now see how the color
doesn’t have to be drained out of something to   make it look creepy. [Music] I’m scared. Jake,
I’ve seen him, too. I thought I was the only one. I need to see Dr. Carlson, please. I’m sorry.
There’s no record of a Jacob Singer in our files. What happened that night? They’re
coming after me. Who is this? They were in human running
106 ft. But [Applause] Jay, somebody home. It’s the little
It’s the little things. Like,   did you notice her teeth? Watch this. Watch
her teeth. They were in here. running 106 ft. J. See that? That little change of making
the teeth and the eyes like that. That’s creepier than doing a whole like quote
unquote demon makeup. Just the little dental appliance and the eyes that give
you that uncanny like you know this is   inhuman. Human teeth aren’t supposed
to look like that. Human eyes aren’t supposed to look like that. And that’s
what makes it creepy. Love it. Home. Get me out of here. [Music]
There is no out of here. Where are you? Jake happening. Yes. Yes. Yes. Yes. I want to see
this in the theater. I never got a chance to see Jacob’s Ladder in the theater. I’ve only
seen it um through rental. Like when I got to see Jacob’s Ladder was cuz I I rented it from a
video store back in the day and watched it on VHS at that. I don’t even think I I don’t think
I’ve even seen it outside of being on VHS, but I remember really enjoying
it when I when I was younger. So,   it would be great to see this in the theaters.
It looks great. I like the themes of the movie. I like the writing in the movie. It’s It’s
It’s almost like a Clive Barker movie that   isn’t a Clive Barker movie. I’m not dead. What
are you then? I’m alive. That’s what’s up. BC says Tim Rob Tim Robbins is was so
good in Mystic River. Tony Man says, “Never had any interest for Jacob’s Ladder
and probably will never see the 4K. It seems   boring.” It is not boring at all, Tony
Man. you just don’t understand. It is not boring at all in my opinion. All
right, let’s go on to our next story. This is another one that has an accompany
accompanying video. So, let’s reshare the screen. BC should be interested in this because it
is gaming news. This is courtesy of Bloody Disgusting written by John Squires. Headline
reads Halloween the game new look at original shape Nick Castle doing motion capture
for Michael Myers which is interesting uh considering Nick Castle’s age
but he is the original shape. Okay, as we learned earlier this summer, original
shape actor Nick Castle is back as Michael Myers in Halloween the game, an official video game
based on John Carpenters’s hol horror classic that’s headed our way next year from Ilonic. What
that means is that Castle did motion capture work for the game uh for the game is Michael Myers.
And we’ve got a new peak behind the scenes today. This photo comes courtesy of Halloween the game’s
official website which ran a piece this week that reveals that Castle is working alongside stuntman
actor TJ Storm to bring Michael Myers to life in the video game world. Castle and Storm are sharing
the motion capture duties. Nick Castle tells the website, “It did make me go watch the movie
again to see just what the hell I I did that contributes to the success of the character.” JT
Storm adds, “The folks creating the game wanted the character to be as authentic as possible, and
I did my best to capture the original movements. It was fun to do, and I had a great time with the
team.” Halloween the game will invite players to step into the chilling world of John Carpenter
genre um sorry genre defining film defining film now transformed into a suspenseful one versus many
stealth horror experience. put on the iconic mask to become the ultimate slasher, Michael Myers,
stalking and executing the citizens of Hatfield one by one, or striving to thwart Michael Myers
plans as civilians determined to save the unaware towns folk before it’s too late. Can you play
as Dr. Lumis? I want to play as Dr. Lumis. God damn you, Michael. I shot him. Um, I looked
into his eyes. There was nothing there but pure evil. Okay, let me let me continue. There’s some
more images here. Let me scroll up so you guys can see the pictures. Let me do like this. Maybe
I can increase the size if I go. There we go. All right. So, we’ll do it like this so you can
see a little bit of both while I’m reading here.   The video game will feature online multiplayer,
offline bots, and a single player story mode. Halloween the game will unleash Michael
Myers onto Xbox Series XS, PlayStation 5, and PC via Steam, and the Epic Game Store
in 2026. Here, everything you need to know. So, you’ve got this image here, and then scroll
down here, and you have the full body image. There’s the Halloween game cover. Yeah,
that’s it. Where? I thought there was going to be a video of him actually doing the
mo motion capture. Just some still images. Well, that’s okay. All right, let’s move on. Uh, let me see what you guys
are saying in the comments.   BC says, “Jacob’s Ladder was a good movie.” D
Kaiju says, “I saw some of Jacob’s Ladder. I’m not a big fan of psychological horror, or at least not
movies where it turns out the monsters or ghosts   are just in a person’s head.” Uh, well, Jacob’s
Ladder is kind of the opposite of that. Um, in my reading of it, in my reading of it, he
was um kind of battling angels and demons, but the problem was that he thought that he was
alive, but he wasn’t alive. So, he actually was battling ang he was battling demons and being
um um what’s the word? Counled by angels. That That’s my interpretation. I could be wrong. Doc
Kaiju says TJ Storm. TJ Storm plays legendaries Godzilla. BC says no, you cannot play as Dr.
Lumis. Holy Myers stalking people. Only Meyers stalking people or survivors trying to survive.
Uh Tony man says, “Of course you’d want to play   the most boring character. Meyers all the time.
You need to be No need to be regular folk.” Doc Kaiju says, “Shows I didn’t finish the movie.”
Yeah, yeah, yeah. You got to finish the movie. All right. So, we have something
here that I have. Oh, I forgot to take the B down for physical
media and collectibles. My bad, I guess. Well, yeah, video games still
are still considered physical media,   so it’s not too bad of a mistake.
All right. Now, let’s go into All right. All right. I’ll do the ad thing. Let’s see. Pause on this site. There we go. And we have an article here from Collider, uh,
written by Robert Lee III. Shout out to Robert Lee the third. And it says 10 most challenging
thrillers of the 21st century ranked. If anybody’s watching this that loves thriller movies, let
me know in the comments what your favorite   thriller movies are. Okay, why is that not loading
proper? Let me try that again. Open. There we go. One of the inherent strengths of film making as
a medium is its ability to directly challenge audiences and push them beyond their comfort
zones with no singular genre being as impactful with such an approach as thrillers. There are many
different ways that a thriller can be considered challenging. Whether it be through an exploration
of deeply uncomfortable and painful subject matter or a non-traditional approach to storytelling.
At its core, no matter what method is chosen, the tenets and conventions of the thriller
genre lend themselves perfectly to this type   of challenging film film making. While many
other genres are more focused on creating a wide as wide an appeal as possible for success,
thrillers have the liberty to experiment and create a more challenging experience for the sake
of a powerful work of art. The 21st century has been monumental when it comes to the release of
challenging thrillers as many modern filmmakers have created impactful and powerful works of art
that directly challenge the audience consistently during the film. So here is their uh top 10 and
they start with the Stanford prison experiment. Bringing to life one of the most harrowing
experiments conducted in American history. The Stanford prison experiment doesn’t shy away
from showing the discomfort and pain of what happened. The film depicts the raw painful
reality of the real life story. Showing the dehum dehum I cannot talk tonight. Oh my gosh.
showing the dehumanizing experiences that these students went through. Amplified by an array
of emotional and heartbreaking performances, the film fully plays into the the humanistic of
what is being shown on screen with the constant displays of torture and pain only becoming
that much more challenging as they go on. It fully understands the gravitas and
weight of the original real life experiment, showing in complete and unrelenting detail the
pain and misery that these students experienced while acting as fictional prisoners.
It’s certainly a difficult watch for   those who are in touch with the emotions
and pain that is being experienced. Yet, the challenging nature only further compounds
his impact and relevant messaging. Their number nine is hard candy. There are a select few topics that no matter how
they are approached and navigated in the medium of film are tailor made to disturb audience by
their very inclusion. Hard Candy is one of the most prominent thrillers that creates tension and
thrills from its uncomfortable subject matter.   It follows vigilante teenager Haley, played by
Elliot Paige, who uses her young age to hunt down sexual predators of underage victims. Hard Candy
doesn’t make light of this the despicable nature of predators and their fractured mentality, acting
more as a cathartic release for showing an act of calculated vengeance against a predator. Still,
the very notion and consistent conversation of underage victims and predator mentality make
Hard Candy a challenging watch as it tackles several deeply depressing concepts and themes
on his journey of vengeance and glory. It does a great job of building tension and keeping
the audience as uncomfortable as possible   in its exploration of depravity and pain. Their
number eight they have here is Enemy. One of many multi-layered and non-traditional thrillers from
director Dennis Villinoe. Enemy’s very notions of filmm are so largely tied to its subtext and
underlying messages that it can be largely confusing for those only examining what is shown
on screen. Their primary plot itself is already intricate enough with Jake Gyllenhaal playing
identical characters as their lives intersect, but the challenging aspect only grow when
navigating the deeper meanings and symbolism. The film has often been considered one of the
most confusing thrillers ever, thanks to the   large focus placed upon its subtext and hidden
meanings. This approach is most prominently seen in the film’s confusing and shocking ending, which
only manages to make sense in the context of its subtext and not its central story. It makes it a
challenge to understand and keep up with all the moving place, all the moving pieces and symbolic
resonance that the film sets up. Yet, it makes for an incredibly rewarding experience that allows
the audience to derive several meanings from   its symbolism. I have not seen Enemy, but it’s
on my watch list. I see Hard Candy. I think it was okay. I did not know Un Gems was a thriller.
It’s very interesting enough. For some reason, I did not know it was a thriller. I have to
add that to my watch list cuz I like thrillers. Okay. Tension building is a core tenant of the
thriller genre that helps it greatly excel at keeping audiences on the edge of their seats. Yet
Uncut Gems goes above and beyond in the terms of pure unadulterated stressinducing film making. The
film acts as an everinccreasing bubble of tension, slowly but surely building until it reaches near
uncontainable levels during its final acts. Even in a genre so synonymous with tension building,
the high levels of uneasiness make Uncut Gems a challenging watch. Much of the inherent strength
of this stressbuilding chaos is attributed to the pitch perfect filmm which perfectly complements
not just the story but also the legendary lead performance from Adam Sandler. His character
Howard Ratner embodies the film’s chaos pushing things to their absolute limits in pursuit of
a big win while constantly risking his life. This cathartic yet challenging energy
is exactly what has made Uncut Gem such a fan favorite of recent years as well
as one of Sandler’s best films to date. Okay, their number six is Momento. Christopher Nolan has largely become famous for
his approach to nonchronological storytelling and thrillers that actively challenge the audience
with their unique methods of storytelling.   Easily the poster child for Nolan’s distinct
approach to non-traditional filmm is Momental, a brilliant piece of art that goes back and forth
between the chronological beginning and end of   the story before meeting in the middle for its
finale. This approach to structure makes it much more daunting than the traditional thriller.
Yet it brilliantly parallels the themes and   messaging of the film as a whole. Through the
ingeniousness of the structure, Momento creates twists and shocking rea revelations out of telling
parts of the story both forward and backward with scenes having entirely different meanings after
being given a new context. is a thriller that constantly has the audience second-guessing the
information they’ve been told and in a state of   wild confusion, perfectly paralleling the main
character, Leonard Shelby. It simultaneously makes it a fundamentally challenging yet highly
rewatchable mystery film as well as a largely compelling thriller. Now the number five movie
I have seen and that is Irreversible or Irrever pardon my French. Okay. So um due to
the prospect of American audiences as a whole not being nearly as receptive
to more shocking content in their films,   certain foreign markets are deliberately much
more experimental with their subject material. France especially has garnered a
reputation for its ability to create   dark and inflammatory thrillers over the
years that push boundaries to unease the audience with one of the best examples of the
21st century being Gaspar Noa’s irreversible. As if the film’s disturbing content, a woman’s
partner taking visceral vengeance against her   rapist, isn’t challenging enough, the film
tells its story in reverse order in a series of distinct long takes. The very prospect of
telling a story in reverse order inherently makes it a more challenging experience to get a
wraparound. Yet, it over all adds to the weight and impact of its most painful moments and
the emotional weight of its story. No way as a filmmaker has been no stranger to such wild
and challenging filmm. Yet, Irreversible sees his style at its most uncompromising
and most memorable. Their number four is primer. A grounded attempt at telling a
realistic and fully complete time travel story without any paradoxes or fantastical elements.
Primer’s dedication to realism in the concept of time travel creates a massive massive web of
storytelling that takes a lot to get a handle on with each subsequent twist. In addition to its
rules of time travel, the story gets that much more complicated and chaotic, reaching an apex of
challenge during its final act. This dedication to realism simultaneously makes the film much more
challenging than other time travel movies, as well as making it one of the best depictions of time
travel in film. With a small nearly non-existent budget, the challenging intricacies and depth of
its story are the most important aspects of its filmmaking as a whole. Primer’s challenging nature
has made it a difficult film for many audiences expecting a more traditional time travel story,
yet has also given a film a cult classic status for those who appreciate the smaller scale and
expensive yet intelligent timeline of events. Okay, number three. This is one I’ve seen and
I very much enjoyed. Speak No Evil. While the American remake has its fair share of impactful
moments, the original Danish version of Speak No Evil is deeply challenging and it’s at its core
due to its dreadful sequence of events and how it plays with discomfort. The themes of Ling’s
terrible actions pass by out of kindness are stretched to their absolute limits. Initially
starting darkly comedic before entering the   territory of pure dread and pain, a lot of what is
only alluded to in the American remake is shown on full display in the Danish original, including
the death of child characters and a viscerally uncomfortable scene of one’s tongue being cut out.
Speak No Evil does an exceptional job of letting the audience’s guard down in the first half with
its silly shenanigans and awkward faux paws. Yet, when it enters its gruesome final act, it
acts as one of the most challenging and uncomfortable horror experiences of recent
memory. Yeah, it’s very, very dark. Like,   if you want a movie that’s a feel-good film, Speak
No Evil is not it. Just letting you know that. Number two is Cashache. One of many meticulously
crafted thrillers from legendary director Michael Hani, Cashache is a French film that makes
an active effort to tell its story in tiny, easily missable details, forcing the audience to
pay complete attention to its impactful narrative. Cashache’s thrills and tension don’t
come from a suspense of action, but instead the building tension of mysterious
yet disturbing threats and the way that they tear away at the insecurities and shameful past
of the main character. Cashache isn’t afraid to completely circumvent traditional narrative
structure to tell its brilliant story. At points, it even stays still on an unbroken shot for
minutes at a time. With the important context of the scene only appearing for brief moments,
while certainly challenging in its structure   and symbolic resonance, Cache undeniably works
wonders in its emotional strength, being able to immerse audiences into its distinct narrative
energy and weave a powerful tale as a result. Now, as I read the number one thriller of the
21st century, according to Collider, uh I would like you guys in the comments to write down
your favorite thriller movies of this new era, which would be 20 20 or the year 2000 to current
day. I think that’s where they’re going with um in this article. If you have a favorite thriller from
the year 2000 to to today, um I’m noticing they did not put Gone Girl on here, which is one of my
favorites. Well, I haven’t read number one yet,   but I think Gone Girl was amazing. I I intensely
loved it. Um I think because Well, no, I’m not going to uh put words in their mouth, but yeah, I
I really enjoyed Gone Girl. What What uh thrillers have you liked that came out the year 2000 up to
today? And let’s see what their number one was. they have under the skin. I did not actually
class this as a thriller movie. I classed it as a science fiction movie, but two things can be
true at once. I I suppose, but I really class this as a science fiction movie for me, but I guess
you could say it’s a sci-fi thriller. Yeah. So, let’s go. Under the Skin features an uh
features all the classic hallmark hall hallmarks of a challenging horror thriller.
It frequently leaves audiences in the dark   about its meaning and the questions it presents
while subjecting them to disturbing concepts and imagery. This existential horror film utilizes
a lot of immersive yet challenging techniques to add depth and weight to its story, such as using
hidden cameras and an extremely limited narrative, allowing the tone and energy to speak for
themselves. Especially for those who need a traditional overarching story to anchor themselves
to a film. Under the skin can be one of the most challenging thrillers imaginable. It does away
with the notions of traditional storytelling and   takes a much greater focus on perspective and
felt emotion. It’s overwhelming with different meanings and layers of depth to the sparse
story that is being told. However, it all comes together to create an undeniably memorable
experience that acts as one of many masterpieces from director Jonathan Glazer. Okay, let me see
what you guys are saying in the comments here. Do says the nurses at work flushed all kind
of stupid stuff like urine samples, cups down   the big medical liquid disposal toilet things and
now they might need to be shut down the facility. They might need to shut down a facility to
temporarily fix it. Well, that’s unfortunate. BC says, uh, Lady Shasha is now the spoiler.
Do Kaiju says, “The plumbing.” Daiu also says, “Dark Candy was a good movie.” Mhm. Hard Candy,
sorry, was a good movie. Big Chunga says,   “I could not give you a number one thriller
at the moment. I would have to think it over, but the movies on the list are good.” Tom Baker
says, “Your French pardons you difficult.” Yes, I did uh study French in high school for a couple
years, but that high school was a long long long   time ago. Big Chunga says, “By the way, the
Halloween game is just a cash grab. They did the same thing with Leatherface and Jason
OD is an original idea from Japanese game   maker Hadel Kajima or Hadel Kajima. I think
that’s the right inonation.” All right. Well, you know what? I will put it on my list for next
week. I’m going to put it on my list right now.   We will look at the trailer for OD. Let me
put it on here cuz I have notes here under physical media. Let me type that up. No, let’s do caps. Okay, let’s do it. Is O D trailer and let me put your name next to it because
you requested it. Uh, Big Chungus there. Then next Wednesday night, we will
check out that trailer because I’ve got to go unfortunately um for tonight. Thank
you all for coming through. We had a kind of a a truncated show, but it it happens
sometimes. Sometimes you got to do what   you got to do. But I will me and Tony M will
be back here tomorrow. We’ll be talking about um Alien Earth and Gen V. And I’ll be back here
Friday night. Let me uh actually put that up to remind everybody. Let’s ex out of that.
And we’ll put that up tomorrow night. what we watched last weekend. We will be talking about
Alien Earth episodes seven and eight, the finale, as well as the first four episodes of GenV.
Um, we may next week, depending on if you guys uh want to talk about it, I think we might talk
a little bit about um Peacemaker because that uh season 2 has just started. We will we if
we get a chance, we might check that out. No,   I I’m not going to promise it, but it was just
a thought. I’ll put it out there. And then Friday night, come through so we can watch the
Black Exorcist Abbey and have a good good time. All right, Tom Baker says of the
2000s, The Departed, The Cell,   and Zodiac. Great picks. Absolutely
great picks. Uh Doc Kaiju says, “Time to walk home.” Good night,
everyone. Good night. Good night,   Doc Kaiju. Make it home safely. And uh everybody
make it home safely and have a good night. I’m going to get out of here and I will be back here
tonight um with uh Tony Man. So, see you later. [Music]

  1. Luv your message on movies. "Every movie isnt amazing and every movie isn't crap, sometimes a movie is just alright."🖤🖤🖤

  2. I was just about to type in When the Bough Breaks with Morris Chestnut and Regina Hall. Excellent thriller.
I've been looking forward to seeing what they can do different with Hand That Rocks the Cradle. Didn't realize it was going to be a HULU movie.
    Regardless, I'm in.
