雨の夜の過ごし方|疲れた心を癒す1人時間と自分を取り戻すナイトルーティン
Friday night, coming home soaked by the rain, feeling exhausted. My brand-new dress got wet, which made me a little sad. The dress I wore to lift my mood ended up making me feel down instead… Noticing these “small misfortunes” shows something about me. It is a sign that my heart is weak. Things that don’t bother me when I’m energetic, now prick at my heart like thorns, and I can’t stop thinking about them. To distract myself, I made a little detour and bought some TEAPOND teas. I bought a bit too much, thinking of it as a “reward for trying hard”…! I even bought a teapot on impulse, but it’s really cute. “Which tea should I drink today?” A small joy like that makes my heart feel a little lighter. The glassware I had been eyeing through shop windows, and the cute, minimal bowls, I bought them too. Actually, for the past two weeks, I’ve been feeling down and unmotivated. Nothing could move my heart or body, and it felt like I caught another “mental cold.” But now, I find myself looking forward to drinking tea and getting excited about new tableware. That is a sign that I’m starting to feel better. I’ll give my heart some nourishment, gently loosen it, and spend time taking care of my imperfect self. Especially on rainy days, when the weather can make me feel low, I warm my wet body in the bath to reset my mood. The book I’m reading now is Erich Fromm’s The Art of Loving. “Love is not just an emotion; it is a skill you learn and practice.” We tend to rely on our feelings and motivation, Maybe learning how to manage our wavering emotions is also important. We might also need to learn from failures and setbacks. Collecting small comforts and little joys one by one, I return myself to a calm state. My appetite is back, and my weight hasn’t changed. I’m returning my skin care routine to normal after slacking a bit. The new BONUQUE oil-in-mist with evening primrose extract. The wooden cap feels nice, and the gentle scent is soothing. I spray it to protect my hair from the dryer’s heat. There’s only a little left, but it’s being restocked, so try it if you can. The dryer is a hassle, but the sweet scent of the mist gives me energy. When my hair is smooth, my mood feels balanced too—it’s strange but true. I felt refreshed and renewed after taking a bath. Now I start making dinner with seasonal autumn vegetables. Speaking of autumn, it’s definitely chestnut rice season! The benefits of eating seasonal vegetables: they are rich in flavor, nutritious, and supposedly have effects suited to your body at that season. I don’t fully understand the details, but I know my body enjoys them. Eating seasonal vegetables makes me feel autumn arriving inside me. While cutting the vegetables, the chestnuts softened. I leave the chestnut rice to cook in the rice cooker and start preparing the main dish, “autumn salmon chanchan-yaki.” First, I fry the salmon in a buttered Staub pot. When it’s browned, I take it out and stir-fry the chopped vegetables except the sweet potatoes. I season with salt and pepper. For the sauce: 2 tablespoons beet sugar, 2 tablespoons miso, 1 tablespoon mirin, 1 tablespoon sake. I put the salmon back, add the sweet potatoes, pour the sauce, cover, and steam-fry for about 7 minutes. For the side dish, simple “daikon steak.” Cover lightly with plastic wrap and microwave at 600W for 4 minutes. Heat sesame oil in a pan, place the daikon, and fry until both sides are nicely browned. For half a daikon, the sauce is 1 tablespoon beet sugar, 2 tablespoons mirin, 2 tablespoons soy sauce. It’s juicy, satisfying, and delicious. Another side is “enoki with plum dressing,” made in the microwave. Break apart one pack of enoki, put in a bowl, microwave 2 minutes 30 seconds at 600W. Meanwhile, shred shiso leaves for the daikon steak. Pour the sauce, place the leaves on top, and it’s done. Remove the pits from 2 umeboshi, mash into a paste, mix with enoki, and that’s done too. Heat pumpkin for miso soup to make it easier to cut. Remove seeds, use half for soup, the rest for tomorrow’s breakfast. Add plenty of shimeji mushrooms, autumn vegetables, and fried tofu for a heartwarming autumn miso soup. The chestnut rice cooked perfectly. Dinner is almost ready. It will cheer up my tired heart and body. I add maple leaf chopstick rests I bought in Kyoto. Wow, it looks delicious! Autumn festival! Thanks for your hard work today! Ah… Wow! So good! Let’s eat! Wow… The pumpkin is delicious! Seasonal vegetables really taste good, don’t they? Chestnut rice! Mmm!! It’s all about autumn today. Mmm! Mm-hmm!! Really, seasonal foods are just so good. Mmm! Mm-hmm!! Autumn is wonderful! I save the chestnuts to eat last in the rice. Oh, really? Yes. You save them? Yes. When I was a kid, you know jam with fruit pieces? I liked the pieces, so I left them at the edge of the bread, but my grandma ate them… I cried so much. She said, “Aren’t you going to eat this?!” That’s too bad. I’l eat more~♪ I’l eat more~♪ After finishing my meal and cleaning up, it’s my most balanced alone time of the day. Meeting many people and seeing various information. These clog my mind and make me tired. I take care of my hardworking hands and feet, saying “good job” to myself, recharging so I can keep moving forward—this is important time. Sometimes, “taking care of yourself” feels kind of hard. When I have no self-esteem, no energy, or no patience, I put myself last… Neglecting myself is something I’m really good at. That’s why I consciously focus on “taking care of myself” more than anyone else. Anything that feels uncomfortable, anything that warms my heart, I write it all down on paper, creating my own “joy recipe.” When I feel down, I read it again, and try to pick things that make my heart happy. Like plating a delicious dish. Today, unfortunately, it’s raining again. I take it as a sign not to overfill my schedule, like it’s saying, “Take a little rest.” Haha. Lately, I’ve finally started accepting both good and bad things. I think “Maybe it’s guidance of some kind.” When feeling down, don’t overthink— Take it easy, just enough. Lightly, in my own way. Breakfast today uses leftovers from last night. I have extra shimeji and maitake mushrooms, so I’ll use them on toast. I fry them with bacon, and for the miso soup that got stronger overnight, I add soy milk for a slightly Western twist. The Takaki Bakery stone-oven morning French bread I bought at the supermarket has a stylish look and taste that I love. I also prepare a salad to go with the one-plate breakfast. Place the bread on oven paper to warm it, sprinkle melted cheese over the bacon and mushrooms, and heat it in the oven until the cheese melts. Cheese that is close to its expiration date goes into the soup— it makes it rich and delicious. The leftover pumpkin from yesterday becomes a pumpkin salad. Just mash it with salt, pepper, and mayonnaise. Wow, it looks delicious! A feast on a one-plate breakfast made from leftovers is ready! Let’s eat! Wow, it looks amazing! Mmm! So delicious! Wow, it’s really good! Mmm! So tasty! Bacon! Did I toast the bread a little too much? Maitake is so good! Maitake is really good, right? Yeah! Just an ordinary rainy day. Not special, but precious. I want to cherish these everyday moments. Because then, today’s me will surely like myself more than yesterday. See you in the next video. NIKO
