Of all the days… The convenience store in our apartment complex is closed today. I’m on my way to another convenience store right now.
(Didn’t think I’d be going out, so I didn’t even put on sunscreen.) “Long Long” toilet paper, which is over 7 times longer than regular rolls. Mochi Sablé. A moist and soft sablé on the outside + a chewy mochi filling on the inside. Chocolat Langue de Chat. It’s been a while, but it’s still so good. Mini Roll Ham & Egg & Croquette. Tartar Shrimp Cutlet. Tea Latte. “We have started frozen tangerines.” What a funny product name 🍊 Croissant Taiyaki. The outside is a crispy croissant and the inside is sweet and moist. And lastly, a smoothie. Green Smoothie. Today’s breakfast. 👧 This smells really good, huh? 👦 Yeah!! Enjoying the sandwich with the great texture of plump shrimp. Finishing on a refreshing note with a green smoothie. Enjoyed our meal in the lobby and now heading back up. It’s so hot on the way to the parking lot. The daytime temperature is a whopping 37 degrees 🔥 Lunch at TGI Friday’s for the first time in a while. Main + Salad + Unlimited Drinks for ¥2300!! A great value weekend lunch. Off to the supermarket 🐾 Pears. Grabbing one more of these cool and sweet pears 🍐 Figs. Bananas. Kyoho grapes. Garlic. Green onions. Avocado. Cucumbers. Carrots. Cabbage. Cherry tomatoes. Anchovies. Sakura shrimp. Grilled sardines. Salty and savory, perfect as a snack with drinks. Spam. Chikuwa fish cakes. Time for a rescue mission for the fruit at the bottom. Ketchup. Rock sugar. Tofu. Vienna sausages. Sausages. Edamame & Corn. Nikuman (meat buns). It still feels like the middle of summer, but the supermarket already has a Halloween vibe 🎃 Black Caramel Corn, Chocolat flavor. No way, Hello Kitty… This is too cute. They should have at least attached a pen 😂 Hi-Chew. Milk coffee. It’s smooth because it has a lot of milk. Grocery shopping done! Gloomy weather ☁️ Checking today’s weather from the balcony, and starting the day by preparing a lunch box. It’s refreshing to tie my hair up in the summer heat. It’s pre-washed rice, so I just rinse it once or twice before putting it in the rice cooker. Kaldi’s Chicken Rice sauce. A simple sauce you just mix with warm rice. Cutting the cucumber into bite-sized pieces. Tossing the cut cucumber into a plastic bag. Pickling sauce. Mixing it by hand. Let it pickle in the fridge for about 30 minutes for a crispy and salty side dish. Next, a bell pepper side dish. Removing the bell pepper seeds. Julienning it. Shio kombu + perilla oil + sesame seeds. The salty and deep umami flavor pairs perfectly with vegetables. Bell pepper salad, done! The more green onion, the better, so I’m preparing a lot. Frozen edamame & corn. You can use it in various ways like in salads, fried rice, rolled omelets, etc. I glanced at the rice cooker and saw there was still time, so one more side dish! Chikuwa, an easy side dish for bento. Cut into bite-sized pieces. It’s cute with its round shape and hole in the middle. Kaldi’s soy milk mayonnaise. 2-3 tbsp of mayonnaise. In goes the chikuwa. A sprinkle of shichimi for a bit of spice. Just mix it well to coat it in the sauce, and it’s done. Finally, getting ready for the rice. Oh wait, I’ll make a thin egg omelet to cover the rice. A thin egg blanket. I cooked it in a square pan, so the egg seems a bit small. Making green onion oil. Stir-frying the edamame & corn. Rice. Chicken rice sauce. It has a sweet and sour omurice feel. Placing the rice on plastic wrap and shaping it. Gently placing it on the egg blanket. Shaping it. Plastic wrap – egg blanket – rice. Wrapping it all together. Removing the plastic wrap. The hardest thing in the world… packing side dishes into the bento box. It seems harder because I’m trying to pack a lot of side dishes… If I focus on the amount, I have to give up on the presentation 😂 I want to put in all the side dishes I made. And in the midst of this, I can’t forget the fruit. Dessert fruit is grapes and cherry tomatoes. Drizzling some ketchup. I’ll enjoy my meal! 🙋‍♀️ I’m back from work, and… His face is something else, maybe because I woke him up from a nap 😂 Come on, welcome your mom home… My husband’s home from work too. Making dinner together with my husband. It’s no secret that I only asked him to make the rice and then kicked him out. A giant garlic clove. Tonight’s dinner is stir-fried webfoot octopus. Lots of chopped green onions. Crispy onion. Chopping them up. Crushing the garlic for the sauce. 1 minced garlic, 3 chili powder, 2 sugar, 5 soy sauce, 2 mirin, pepper, 1.5 gochujang. Quickly blanch the octopus for about 30 seconds. Preparing perilla leaves. Stir-frying the green onion and onion. In goes the sauce. Add the blanched octopus and give it a quick stir-fry. Stir-fry it lightly because it gets tough the longer you cook it. Finishing with sesame seeds and perilla leaves. Rice delivery. Because I don’t want to do dishes… A one-bowl meal. Transformed into a webfoot octopus rice bowl 😆 👧 Let’s eat~! 👦 Okay! Let’s eat~! Rice + stir-fried octopus + ssamjang. A perilla leaf wrap that can’t go wrong. Into my mouth it goes. It’s delicious with cool young radish kimchi. It was so good I ended up getting a refill. The octopus I saved on purpose, you know what it’s for, right? Stir-frying rice + leftover sauce + young radish kimchi. Saving the “Korean dessert” for tomorrow’s lunch box. Good morning. Starting the day by making a lunch box again. Usually, I just buy a simple bento from the convenience store, or get takeout from a restaurant near my office. But I feel like I’ve tried all the menus near my office, so I’m a bit tired of them. Back to making bento boxes when I get tired of eating out. My husband asks why I go through the trouble, but I can’t give up my homemade bento. Colorful bell peppers. Julienning them. And chopping the onion. Kaldi’s sweet potato starch noodles. I’m going to make a simple Japchae with these sweet potato noodles. Adding the noodles to boiling water to cook. Drizzling some olive oil. In go the vegetables. Japchae is delicious even with just vegetables and no meat. The taste is clean and light. The cooked noodles. 1 minced garlic, 3 soy sauce, 1 oyster sauce, 2 oligosaccharide, pepper. Using tsuyu instead of soy sauce adds more flavor. On busy mornings, I clean as I cook. Finishing with a drizzle of sesame oil, and the simple Japchae is done. I scraped up all the leftover rice from the rice cooker. Kaldi has a lot of Korean food products, and among them was this Jumeokbap making kit I was curious about! “Korean Onigiri.” “A traditional Korean food made by mixing various ingredients and seasonings into a ball.” Ingredients for the rice balls + pickled radish. First, squeezing the liquid out of the pickled radish. Adding the pickled radish and seaweed flakes. Letting the rice cool down enough. Mixing it well with the rice. Cooking sheet. Making them into bite-sized balls. The pickled radish makes it crunchy and sweet and sour. And the charm of the popping texture with every bite. Filling the remaining space with Japchae. The Japchae might be a bit firm when it’s time to eat, but a few stirs with chopsticks will get it ready to eat. A boiled egg to fill the empty space. Finishing with a sprinkle of sesame seeds. Today’s bento is complete! I’ll enjoy my meal! 🙋‍♀️ A healing moment with Siru before work. I really want to just laze around with Siru. Siru looks sleepy… I should probably get going soon 🥲 Ate my bento early and having McDonald’s for a snack. It’s McDonald’s limited-time fall menu, the Tsukimi season. A taste I crave around this time every year. Tsukimi means “moon viewing,” and the burger has an egg inside. A burger with a fried egg, bacon, a patty, and sauce. My drink is Sokenbicha. Drumroll… Today’s highlight is this. A crispy pie filled with sweet red bean paste and chewy mochi. It’s so delicious! A combination that can’t go wrong. That was good. Stopping by the supermarket for a bit. Grabbing some crispy cucumbers. And some fruit. Plump Kyoho grapes. Roasted seaweed. 🛒 A fleeting sunset glow, I wanted to capture it on video. The sunset light filtering through the forest of buildings is so beautiful. Thank you for watching today’s video❣️ Have a comfortable and enjoyable weekend❣️
