Bangkok’s BUSIEST BUFFET? Huge Selection with River Prawns, Snow Crab & More @ 57th Street Sukhumvit

Hi everyone, this is Orestis and Mira. Hello.
How is it going everyone? Hope you’re having a fantastic day. Today we’re still here in
Bangkok, Thailand. Our days here sadly are   running out. We’re about to head back
to Europe very, very soon. However, we still have time for a few more buffets. And
right now, it’s dinner time. We’re ready to head   out. And today we’re going to the Marriott Hotel.
One of the many Marriott hotels here in Bangkok. Not the one that was hosting Goji, different one.
This one is on the 57th Street, Sukhumvit. So, we’re going to head down to the BTS station, grab
ourselves a train, and head to the hotel. So,   this Marriott Hotel hosts a daily all you can eat
dinner buffet. This is an international buffet, all you can eat. And this one has a menu that
updates every day. They have a few different   things every day. Today, I could see on the
menu a barbecue duck dish and some traditional Thai dishes. So, really looking forward to try
everything. We will be heading down to the BTS   station very, very soon. This one is not located
too far from our hotel, just a few stations. So, can’t wait to try it. Can’t wait to
see how it compares to Goji. Obviously,   I don’t have such high expectations, but hopefully
the quality at least is comparable. Quantity-wise, we can settle with less. No problem. So, it’s
almost time to go. We have a reservation at   6:00. Let’s head downstairs and we’ll see
you at the hotel at the Marriott. Let’s go. The BTS trains here in Bangkok are rapid
fast. So, we arrived a little bit early. Still have a few minutes to wait. Luckily,
today not so hot. The sun went down already,   so that’s good. And here you can see it again.
This is the Marriott, one of the many. And we’re still walking here at the sky bridge. And this
is the entrance right here. We have arrived. And we’ve been seated at this lobby. We
weren’t really aware that this is also   the restaurant. We are at the lobby area at
the back of the lobby area. Take a look. So, apparently we will be eating right here on this
table. And we’ve also received our table number. So, if we have to order something from the
chef, it will be delivered to table 68. So,   since we are a little bit early, perfect
opportunity to check the buffet. Let’s take a little sneak peek. Let’s go.
Over here, you can see some ice cream. And here, the preparations are already going
strong. You can see here some stir fried food with chili, mixed vegetables, red curry with chicken.
Still a little bit early. We won’t be opening anything. And the typical Thai chili sauce. And
take a look at that. Just wonderful. Over here we have some cold seafood on ice. But first, more
items. Over here we have a beef stew. Sauteed seafood with white wine sauce. Pasta pork stew.
This is something new. You might try this one. Take a look at that. Roasted honey ham and some roasted chicken with
pies. Maybe even have some pizza. This appears to be unnamed. Looks like some
additional veggies maybe. And over here we have the Indian station. Little Indian station.
We will be trying that. And the salad station as well as some cold cuts and some cheese
with the crackers and the fruit and nuts. And this here is another large dining area. Not
sure where we are sitting in the lobby area. Maybe this one is already reserved. And here
you can see the back of the seafood on ice. Wonderful seafood on ice here.
And even some sushi. Take a look. There are some additional items in this little
corner here by the entrance. Here we have the   beverage station. We do get free flow beer with
this one, but they also have soft drinks. Even more ice cream over here. And these are the
desserts. Take a look at that. Raspberry jam, chocolate, and caramel sauce. Here they
have some egg tarts, apple crumble pie, orange cake, a carrot cake.
This is the upside down cake, chocolate cake, and tiramisu and banoffee. And
these are the more traditional Thai desserts. Very coconutty and sticky. And we also have some fruit.
And over there a little coffee machine. We will be visiting that one also. Few more minutes left.
Shouldn’t be that long. And we will be officially   starting. And I believe this lobby area might be
nicer than the actual restaurant. The restaurant you do get to sit at a close proximity of
the buffet. But this one looks like such a relaxing little corner here. We will have privacy
while eating. I think it’s just perfect. And the price for this buffet is rather affordable. If you
book using one of the apps here that are popular   in Thailand, we used the Hungry Hub and it was
just a little bit under 1,000 Baht per person. So that’s around $26 or so. Very affordable
for what you just saw. And infinite refills of beer. I think that was a special offer though.
That won’t be the case forever. We were lucky   enough to also benefit from that. And I think
it’s time to officially start. Let’s go. Mira wants to try this station here, the cooked food
immediately. We will oblige. Let’s grab the plate. Hand it over to Mira and I will be doing the
lid opening duty. Do you want some of that? A stir-fried seafood with chili. None of that right
now. She says they have some tofu here. Mira, are you interested in the tofu? Maybe. Let’s try
the tofu. Looks nice and crispy. Maybe with some of these dips down here. They have two dips here.
Let’s add another piece of the tofu. This one you should eat with this sauce with the nut. This is
a peanut sauce. To me, it looks more like a chili sauce, but we are in Thailand. So, let’s try to
put a little just a little on top of the tofu. I think that’s enough. These are the
stir fry vegetables. Mira wants some. Not the fan of veggies in a
buffet, but if Mira wants them, she can enjoy them for sure. And take sweet
bean for you. Sweet bean, which is the sweet   bean. The green one. Wait, I see some baby corn.
Let’s grab that. This one is the sweet bean. I think I already had some sweet bean. Let’s
add some more. Actually, maybe from over here. A lot of sweet bean. And next we have
some spicy red curry with chicken. And it depends on how spicy that is. That
looks very spicy for me. I’m sorry,   but you would like that. Yes. Keep me the
right person. And some steamed jasmine rice. Let’s add the curry on the rice. Little bit
of rice. Not too much. Curry on top of rice. Curry goes on top of rice. Mira. I agree.
Let’s take a little bit here from the back. Maybe one chili because it is Mira. And
over here we have some spicy pork rib soup. Let’s take a look. Oh, and that looks
just wonderful. Take a look at that. Do you want to try some? Mhm. Maybe later though
because we already have two plates. And the buffet continues over here with some beef
stew. I would like to try that for sure. Let’s take some of the beef too now that it’s
still rather fresh and pristine. Mira can have some too. And I think we will place that right
next to the tofu. Tofu will get some extra flavor from that. Mira also wants some seafood.
This is the sauté seafood. Mostly shrimp and muscle. I can see with some squid as well.
Maybe some more. Another shrimp. Another squid and everything. This is a pasta pork stew. Uh,
let’s put this on the other plate. I really want to try because pasta with pork we haven’t had so
far. Let’s take here from the back. Not too much. This is just fine. And oh, I think
we have to try this. This wonderful roasted honey ham. Let’s take a
piece from over here with the fat. And maybe just one more piece from the back
here. Just excellent. And here they have some roasted chicken. This one you have to use
these tongs. Let’s try a piece of the chicken, too. Maybe this piece over here. And I think our
plates are already getting very full. Let’s add some sauce on the chicken. Mira, I think for
the chicken, I will do the barbecue sauce. And we are being swarmed. I don’t
know from where, but all of a sudden,   the buffet got really full. These are the
Indian items. We will come back later as our plates are really full at the moment. But
take a look at this area here. The buffet is filled with people. And I think we just have
a little bit of room for some of the ham or maybe some of the cheese. Cheese. They have
Brie Emmental and Edam. Not too spectacular. Let’s grab some of the salami though. And
maybe a little bit of the spicy pork salami. And what are these items over here? Is this
feta cheese? This looks like it could be feta   cheese. I think this might be feta cheese.
Let’s also try that. Would be surprised if they have Greek cheese here. And
maybe some of the salads as well.   Do we have a little bit of room for one
of the salad? This is a chicken salad. H. And they even have a Greek salad, but I
think we will do the meat salad. This is the spicy grilled beef salad. I think we will do
a meat salad instead. Let’s add a good amount over here by the rice. And we will come back
for more as there are quite a few more items. And it always feels special when a buffet is
nice and crowded. It feels like a true event. I think those are mostly hotel guests though,
so I guess it is very popular among the hotel   guests as well. Maybe as a part of a reservation
or as an extra. And I think with this crowd, the drinks will have to wait a little. We do
have free flow beer. But let’s start with the   food first. Then we will enjoy a cold glass
of beer after. So these are our plates at the moment. Mira has this in front of her at the
moment. I will start with some of those items. So, let’s try the tofu with the peanut sauce. It
did get a little bit soggy now with all the sauce, but still quite crispy on that side. So,
should be a nice mix. Let’s give this a try. And it is crispy. Wow. A very crispy
tofu. The peanut sauce, as suspected, it’s full of chili, but you do taste the
nice peanut flavor. Very interesting way   to eat a tofu with some peanut sauce and
chili. And let’s continue with this beef here. This is the beef stew, I think. Take a
good look at that. Very nicely cooked beef. Oh yeah. And I have to say, I will say this
again, the meats here in Asia do taste better than in Europe. I’ve noticed that very often
here with these buffets. I don’t know what’s happening with the meat in Europe. But this
is a very flavorful beef. Perfectly cooked   with some dark wine sauce, wine and tomato in the
sauce. Really nice and just excellently cooked. Tastes really great. And with the beef, they
even have some potato with the skin. And oh, this is very, very soft. Look how soft it
is. Cuts like it’s nothing. As you can see, has the skin over here. But we
will also add a carrot to that. And some onion. And we will try this bite. Oh, the carrot and the potato just melt in the
mouth. Perfectly cooked. Potato slightly starchy, slightly sweet. And the carrot just very
aromatic. releases all the wonderful aromas   in the mouth. Just excellent. And over
here we have this amazing honey glazed pork. Let’s give this a try. This had
the most unique presentation ever. A wonderful piece with a fat at the edge.
Perfectly cooked and lightly salted. Really rich pork flavor. I can’t really say
I tasted much of the honey. Let’s try   another piece. Let’s cut a little bit of
the fat. That’s a little bit too much. Let’s take this piece over here from the back.
Maybe this has some additional honey flavor. Let’s give this a try. Okay. So, if you taste the outer part, you
do taste the honey. There is a light honey   glaze. Nothing too extreme, but adds
a little extra texture and flavor to the pork. But the cut of the pork is so
nice overall that even without the honey,   I think it would just taste wonderful. And
Mira here is devouring the stuff on her plate. I guess we will not be able to try
many of those. But it’s okay. Let’s try to steal a little bit of the Greek feta over here.
Looks like a piece of feta. Let’s give it a try. standard creamy milky feta taste. In Greece, we do
like it a little bit more on the spicy side. We do add a little bit of spice and much more salt.
This is the typical style that you can find in convenience stores. Still very nice and rich milky
taste. Very enjoyable. Let’s also try some of our pasta here. This is the pasta with a pork sauce.
This is something I wanted to try. Let’s give it a try. A rich tomato sauce with some pulled pork
on top. And I think some Italian seasoning. Let’s give it a try. Oh, and I think there might be some
additional meat on that sauce. It’s a rich tomato sauce with a little bit of beef and pork flavor as
well. So, I think they do cook it in the Italian style. It’s more like a ragu sauce, I think.
Very flavorful this one. And for a pasta dish, uh, just excellent. Look at the amount
of sauce. It’s even hanging beneath. Oh, I could just eat that alone. I would get
two or three refills and I’d be happy. But we are in a buffet. We will be trying some of the
other stuff. Of course, the veggies I think are   Mira’s. We will not touch them too much as I’m
not a huge fan. However, let’s have some of the chicken back here. Let’s pull a piece forward so
it’s easily visible to the camera. And let’s try to cut this piece with the skin and the lovely
barbecue sauce. Let’s take this piece here. Take a good look. Very soft and tender meat. Barbecue sauce is
nice and smoked. A little bit on the sweet side, but very aromatic overall. And I think the chicken
is just done perfectly. It’s a chicken thigh,   I think, or maybe chicken breast piece.
And another bite. Oh, yeah. This chicken is just excellent. Oh, and Mira gave us a shrimp
from the seafood stew. Let’s give this a try. Oh, we lost a little piece there. Nicely cooked.
I think it is a little bit steamed. Maybe a little bit on the hard and crunchy side still. This one
tastes a little plain. Didn’t have any sauce, but nice and fresh shrimp taste. Very nice.
And we made a little switch here with Mira.   She got her veggies. My plate right now
looks more empty. Still have a little bit of the chicken, the pork. Mira is more
interested in the seafood today. So,   we will be finishing up the meats. But
first, let’s try a little bit of this ham here. This is the spicy ham. Spicy
sausage style. Let’s give this a try. M. Strong meaty flavor. Little bit of
spice. I wouldn’t call this extremely spicy. Okay, the spice level starts going up a little,
but still it’s manageable, I think. And the salami standard also really great.
So, we will be finishing up   around 1 and we will go for some more,
possibly some of the seafood as well. Let’s check the salad station one more time.
Mira says she wants a Caesar salad. So, let allow Mira to make a Caesar salad before we
continue for some more food. She really became a fan of Caesar salad in Asia of all things. I
guess she acquired it here. It is an acquired thing. Corn in Caesar salad. I don’t know. It’s
already starting to deviate from the classical Caesar salad. This is a cocktail dressing. This
is a lemon dressing. And they also have an Italian dressing. And this is the typical Caesar dressing
over here. So if you want Caesar salad, you will have to put this one. Unfortunately though,
it seems like there is no ground parmesan. So maybe not a Caesar salad after all. They do have
croutons. Almost all the items for the Caesars, but no parmesan, unfortunately. And they even have
a pumpkin cream soup over here. Wow, very white and bubbly. And over here is the seafood. This is
prepared by the chefs. quite a little crowded. You do take a container like this. And when we find a
little bit of space, we will go for our turn. So, let’s see how Mira puts some of the tiger prawns
and river prawns. These are the river prawns. She add two of them. And one more. And she’s skipping
the tiger prawn. Tiger prawn gets no love today, but she will add some spotted babylons. They
have some calamari down here. This is a slipper lobster. I have no idea. Should we try it? Maybe
it’s the wide lobster. The flathead lobster. Could be that. Could be something completely
different. Here they call it slipper lobster.   And the condiments, red vinegar salad, chili
paste, and more. And back here even some oysters and it will be cooked for us. So before we go
back I think we should do a little bit of the Indian food. Let’s grab a plate and let’s start
with their flatbread here. This is a papadam. Let’s grab just one papa dam over here. Nice and
crispy. And I will add some of the sauces. So they have a mixed pickle, a mint chutney. We will
try their mint chutney for sure. Put a little bit here on the papadam. And maybe this is a mixed
pickle. I think we’re going to skip the pickle, but we’re going to do some of the yogurt raita.
No idea what a raita is, but I do like yogurt. We will put that on the other side. Over here they
have some yellow basmati rice, some aloo matter and some chicken with bell pepper. I think I
will try a little bit of this chicken as it looks potentially interesting. Let’s grab a little bit
of the chicken. Looks very spicy. I’m only going to do a little as I have a feeling this might be
too spicy with some bell peppers. And why not also some of the aloo matter. This I tried last time
at Raintree Cafe and it was quite nice and rich in spices. We will put that over here. And this is
our little Indian plate. And let’s try a piece of the margarita pizza. Mira will put us a little
slice of margarita pizza just to try it. Looks like it has an authentic Italian dough and we put
it over here. This just became an Indian pizza, but it’s okay. These items we already tried.
And take a look over here. They even have some snow crab. Do you want something extra,
Mira? Not yet. She might come back for more. And over here we have a noodle station.
Noodle soup with seafood. Mira, she does like her noodles, so I think she will place an
order. She’s taking the spicy pork rib soup. So, Mira will add some of the spicy pork
rib soup. In it goes. And one more. Just excellent. And take a look at that.
All the hardworking chefs. Truly a busy day. I don’t know if it’s this
busy every day, but if it is,   a round of applause to them. They are doing a
very hard work, very stressful to get everything done in time. And let’s wait our turn at the
sushi station. I do want to try some of the sashimi and maybe some rolls as we do have
a little bit of space on that plate still. And this time we will be getting some
beer. Let’s go back to grab the glasses. And it will be served on a table. And this will be
our round two. This is mostly Mira’s. I might try some shrimp and a little bit of crab and mira’s
soup as well as her salad. But after we’re done with that, I will be going back for some more
of the meat, the wonderful pork, the beef,   and the chicken. Let’s try one of our rolls
here. This is our roll, the California roll. Oh, this one though, we do have to be careful. I think
we will use the dunking method where you just dunk it a little and then you lift it. Let’s give it
a try. Mmm. Oh, this one is very tasty. Mmm. The fish is very soft. Very nice aroma from the sauce.
I think I do taste a little bit of sesame as well. might have had a little bit of sesame seeds
and potentially some sesame oil as well. Really nice. Wow. I might be getting more of
that. And let’s try some of the tuna sashimi. Also dunk it in a little bit of soy and get
some of the wasabi as well. Lovely bite. Oh. Oh, this is very nice. Also really
fresh. Really nice and subtle flavors. and just melts in the mouth as it should.
Excellent. And Mira here is enjoying her soup. This is really nice. She does love her soups.
Warm food with lots of spices. Mira’s specialty along with seafood and veggies. And I
think it’s time to try this papadam. We will be cutting it in half as otherwise it
would be impossible to consume in one bite. Still looks quite big for one bite, but maybe
we can manage. Let’s pick it up. Like that. One bite. Oh wow. The yogurt sauce really fresh
but also spiced. Has a little bit of curry, I think. Mmm. Very nice combination. The
fresh with the spice and with that little   flatbread is just something really new to me. I
do enjoy it, though. Let’s try the second part. And our only fear here is that it might
break apart. Looks like it’s holding. Oh, the mint with some very strong spice. Oo,
I think that had quite a lot of chili. Wow. Also really interesting. This one you need to
like spicy. I do keep getting surprised by the Indian dishes and I think I really like Indian
and I didn’t know it back in Europe. Definitely   will be trying it again and again in every
buffet we go to that has it. And over here, our beer has been delivered. It is
free flow beer, but you can’t really   do that much in a buffet, otherwise there
won’t be any room for the food. Cheers. Very refreshing, but also filling at the
same time. And let’s cut this pizza. We will eat it the gentlemanly
way with a fork and a knife. Standard margarita. Nice tomato sauce. Light on
the cheese, but very enjoyable regardless. And this here is the aloo matter. Let’s try this one
before we go for the chicken over here. This is the chicken with a bell pepper. That looked
really spicy. But first, the aloo matter. I think I missed the meat though. It was
a potato piece, unfortunately. The sauce,   though, just like I remember it. Lots
of curry. I think it has some peas, too. Should we try the curry margarita?
Let’s do it. Since they are here, new recipe straight from Thailand. Nobody has
done this before. It is the margarita aloo matter. You do taste curry and tomato. The rest is
just a mix of flavors. I don’t know. But definitely not disgusting or anything, but it’s
not a real thing, let’s be honest. And finally,   our chicken with the bell pepper. Let’s take the
bell pepper with this piece here, the big piece. And give it a try. It might have a lot of spices, but it’s
not extremely spicy like I thought. Just a very tasty chicken with quite strong
spice. Not on the extreme side though. And a little bit of curry. Also
really enjoyable. And turn our   pizza crust into something Indian.
Also Indian pizza crust going in. Not much different than the papadam. Honestly,   Mira here as always is very
helpful. crab cleaning duty. You can enjoy it, Mira. I think
I’m going to go for more of the   meats here. It’s all yours. The
wonderful crab meat. And Mira is passing us another shrimp. This is
all the seafood that I will be eating. Dipped it in some soy. Let’s go. The hot shrimp though, I have to
say, completely different taste   once it’s hot and grilled. And this one
was done really nice. Just perfect. The love lobster. Really? Would you like to
try a rock lobster? Is that actually the rock lobster? They were calling it some
other weird name. Let me grab a piece and let’s try this as is for a moment
without any soy or anything else. M. Oh, wow. This is still very
soft. H does have a lobster taste, but I’m not sure if it’s rock lobster. If you
know what that was, please leave a comment down   below because I have no idea. It tastes really
nice, though. A little bit like a boiled fish. Not so much lobster flavor, but still very
tasty. And after finishing up our round two,   we’re going to go grab some more meats and maybe
some additional seafood. And we will see you in a bit for dessert. And with Mira here enjoying
more and more seafood. I think we will go on a solo mission for some dessert. Let’s go. And
the buffet is as busy as ever. Let’s see what we will take. Everything looks wonderful. I think
the chocolate cake needs to be fried as well as the tiramisu. But first, a plate. And we will
indeed start with some of the chocolate cake. This is the upside down cake. Seems
like a simple cake with some fruits on top. I think what’s more interesting
is this carrot cake down here. It looks more like a white cake rather than a
carrot cake, but that’s okay. Maybe a little bit of the orange cake. The pieces
here are small, so I think we can handle. And finally, why not a little tiramisu? And I think we do have space for one more. Maybe
we should also try the baked apple crumble time. I think for that it’s best
to use the tongs though. And balance it like this. Excellent. And we have added some coffee to the
mix. Let’s give the sugar a swirl. And don’t worry, these over
here were eaten a while ago.   Now it’s time for coffee. We did let
our pallets cleanse itself. Cheers. Perfect for the digestion. So, where should we   start from? I think we should start with
this orange cake. Looks the fruitiest of the bunch. Maybe the apple crumble
pie is fruitier. Let’s try it out. Light orange at the top. very fruity and
aromatic. A little bit on the synthetic orange, not so natural, which is expected,
but still very fresh and airy. Very   light dessert overall. And let’s compare it
directly with this apple crumble pie. Ooh, the bottom is quite on the hard side. And
it does indeed crumble. That’s why it’s called apple crumble pie. But we managed
to get a hold of pretty much everything. Mmm. So, this one has a very moist biscuit
base with a lot of natural apple flavor on top. I think it has apple pulp, crushed apple.
Much more natural, not too sweet, very fresh and aromatic. And let’s give this carrot cake
a try. Doesn’t look very carroty to me, but typically carrot cake can be a little bit on
the softer side. Seems like a cream cake to me. H has a very thick cream. Ooh, I think it might
have some mascarpone cheese because it is very very thick and almost sticky. And now I do taste
a little bit of the carrot taste indeed. Yes, very nice. Uh, this is quite on the fatty side, but I
do like it. Not very sweet. And as you can see, look at the top here. How thick and creamy it is.
Almost like a piece of thick butter, but very, very satisfying. as it just melts in the mouth.
This is great. And it does have the carrot accent for sure. It’s there. Just blends in wonderfully
with a thick uh cream. And the chocolate cake. Let’s give that one a try. Seems like a very rich
and dark chocolate. Quite a few layers inside. Oh, very chocolatey. Mmm. Oh, but it is a nice
dark chocolate. It is the kind that makes you want to eat more and more. Definitely not
too sweet, definitely not too intense,   just nice and smooth as it should be. And I think
the winners of this dessert round over here are the chocolate cake along with the apple crumble.
Close third for the carrot cake so far. Let’s see also how this tiramisu lines up. But first,
another bite of this wonderful chocolate cake. That one is perfect. And finally, this
tiramisu. I wish I had a spoon for this,   but I could only find a fork. Seems to not be
too sticky, though. We managed to get a little bit out. And take a look at that. You can see
the soft biscuit inside. Just excellent. Let’s give it a taste. Oh, you immediately get hit with
the alcohol. And this one is the exact opposite. Uh if it has mascarpone, you can barely feel
it. It’s a very airy, very fluffy cream. This is a really light one, really light, but you do
taste the coffee and you also taste the alcohol. And we’ve even wrapped up our dessert round
here. Everything was great. As you can see, not much left on our plates. The
dessert was just excellent. And   with a final sip of our coffee,
I think it’s time to ask for the bill. And we will be heading outside.
We will see you outside to sign off. And we are greeted by a surprise. It
started to rain apparently. Luckily,   the BTS station not too far away. And what
a wonderful evening here at the Marriott. Excellent buffet. We liked pretty much most of
the things we tried. The atmosphere was great.   A very crowded buffet today. Didn’t have one like
that for quite a while. Always hits different. We really enjoyed the seafood, the lovely meat
dishes, as well as the desserts. And sadly,   it’s our last few days here in Bangkok. We will
be heading back to Europe soon. So, we’re really looking forward for every buffet we can. Uh soon
we won’t be able to enjoy them anymore. However, who knows? We might come back with food adventures
from another continent. For now though, we will be heading back to our hotel. We will have to wait
for that rain to stop a little and head back to   the BTS station. Thank you so much for watching.
We hope you enjoy today’s buffet and until the next one, take very good care of yourselves
and we will see you soon. Bye-bye. Bye-bye.
