The Danube – From its Spring to the Black Sea
The Danube – a truly European river. With its 2888 kilometres from its source in the Black Forest to its mouth in the Black Sea, the Danube connects ten countries with very different cultures. The Danube is therefore not only the second longest European river after the Volga, but also the most international river in the world. It was and is one of the most important trade routes in Europe and forms the lifeline for many people. On its way it flows through spectacular landscapes, from the karst mountains of the Swabian Alb, through alluvial and marshland landscapes with unique flora and fauna, to the imposing canyons of the Iron Gates and finally the extensive river delta at its mouth into the Black Sea. Not only the size of the Danube is exceptional, it also has a will of its own and is the only major river in Europe that flows from west to east. This film series presents nature and people along the Danube and gives insights into their different lives that are shaped by the river.

A river license wtf LMAO nazis
Is there a crocodile?
As someone born in Eastern Europe, this video really struck a chord with me. I remember learning in school how the Danube flows through so many countries, and it felt like something we all shared—like a thread tying us together. Seeing Luminita and her daughters reflect on their memories made me tear up a little. It reminded me of trips with my grandparents to the Danube Delta in Romania. I never realized the source was so small and peaceful—it’s kind of poetic, right? That something so mighty starts so humbly. Thank you for capturing that journey—it really touched my heart. Anyone else from the Danube region feel a deep connection to the river?
Todella hieno ohjelma.
Germany must control immigrants from Africa and Asia, not its own children on boats.
Fascinating ! The last part amazing !
6th copmment. Gratz share, sharing is caring. Thanks you SIR.
Interesting,
Bulgaria is in 3rd place by length of the Danube river after Romania and Serbia, but you did not include the name “Bulgaria” in the description box, nor in the actual description of the last chapter of the video.
To tell you frankly, this is absolutely disrespectful !
Why?
Why do you avoid mentioning the name of Bulgaria and instead titled the last chapter as “From the Iron Gates to the Black Sea”!?
Another fact is that for the country which is in 3rd place by length of the Danube, out of 2 hours and 52 minutes you dedicated only about 20 minutes???
We know well, that Bulgaria doesn’t have the fame and European cultural prestige of Austria for example, but still as a STATE founded in the year 681 surely you could say a bit more than just 20 minutes or at least write the name!
Brilliant – thank you and God Bless 🙂
Aha,,das ist sehr schoen.
너무 감동적이고 차분한 이야기라 잠자기 전에 읽기 좋네요.
1:42:00 This video inspires to me to trip the danube around countries😂
Fun fact I learned in school: before it flows into the Black Sea, it passes Kara Orman, that is "black forest" in Turkish.
2:01 – 2:02 Yes, the Liberty Bridge in Novi Sad was destroyed by American bombing, but shortly after Austria volunteered to rebuilt it on her own expense. At the end it was a common project by the countries of the EU, which I think went a long way to promote reconciliation between the West and Serbia.
PS I have no idea why this fact was not mentioned in this documentary, only the regretful destruction of the bridge.
Europe's very largest river, the Danube. On the other hand, Volga is Muscovy, & hence, ASIAN.
Супер фильм! Я люблю реки
