Roxy Striar & Tara Erickson dive into the suspenseful world of slasher cinema with a Reaction & Review of John Carpenter’s iconic 1978 horror classic, Halloween! This genre-defining film introduced audiences to Laurie Strode (Jamie Lee Curtis in her film debut, later known for True Lies and Knives Out), a quiet Haddonfield teen whose Halloween night turns into a terrifying game of cat-and-mouse when she becomes the target of a masked killer. Michael Myers, the silent and relentless embodiment of evil, escapes from Smith’s Grove Sanitarium and returns to his hometown to stalk new victims—launching one of horror’s most chilling franchises.
The film also stars Donald Pleasence (The Great Escape, You Only Live Twice) as Dr. Sam Loomis, the psychiatrist determined to stop Michael before he kills again, and Nancy Kyes (The Fog, Assault on Precinct 13) as Laurie’s friend Annie. With its minimalist score (composed by Carpenter himself), stark cinematography, and brilliant use of suspense and silence, Halloween set the standard for slasher films to come.
Key scenes—such as Michael’s haunting figure in the doorway, the POV opening shot, and Laurie’s desperate final confrontation—have become some of the most highly searched and iconic moments in horror movie history. Join us for one of the most iconic slasher flicks of all time!!

  1. Love yall's horror reviews.. but I feel like some of the complaints and issues ya'll may have with these older slashers. It would seem yall forget these movies are in the 70s. A world were no one locked doors, suburban kids with zero survival skills, all the tropes we see today were born from these movies. Laurie is a deer in the headlights in this movie, completely shocked 17 yr old girl.. she's gonna hit and run. Not gonna stand in fight in this bizarre situation. Have to remind ourselves these are the foundation of the wild shit in horror movies we see today.
Pyscho was the first "slasher" movie, but Halloween made the genre popular and expand. Michael Myers was such a hit, most slasher villains were modeled after him. The slow, silent, persistent preadotor.. ex. Jason Vorhees, Terminator, Predator.
Michael Myers is cool I guess.. Freddy Krueger is my goat.

  2. I always ask this question during Halloween reactions and I will continue to do so until I get an answer that make sense: How does Michael know how to drive???

Edit: Lori's friends are the worst.

  3. The reason you didn't see many trick or treaters is that the babysitting and killing all took place after 9 or 10pm and most people stop knocking on people's doors before 9. Probably given the runtime of the film they didn't want to focus on the time of evening when no killing would occur.

  4. Fact: Little Lindsey is Kyle Richards from Housewives of Beverly Hills
The small hand at the beginning that picks up the knife that stabs the sister is Debra Hills hand!

Linda, the blonde girl that was strangled with the phone cord is PJ SOLES, was in CARRIE as the goofy girl with the baseball cap. Last to be cast in CARRIE.

  5. You guys should watch the sequel Halloween 2. I think these 2 movies alone are a perfect full story and it's my fav Halloween timeline.

  6. Did you guys catch how Stranger Things paid homage to this at the end of season 4 when Vecna falls out the window then disappears? One of a billion ST Easter eggs.

  7. I hope Tara is alright. She seemed to be on the verge of falling asleep until the end. The music was very important to this film. When John Carpenter took the film in for one of the investors to view, it did not have the music. The investor thought it was boring and not very scary. He brought it back three days later with the music, and the same person said it was one of the scariest movies ever made. The music is so important for setting the mood.

  8. I don't know how or why, but I could SWEAR you girls already did this franchise! Mayhaps because it's so iconic and y'all have done SO many franchises already

  9. Awesome! I hope this means you all will eventually get to the SCREAM franchise. I’m shocked this channel has never done it but it’s never too late 🔥

  10. The only person who says "totally" more than Lynda is Tara! lol

Don't forget that Laurie did a backflip over the bannister and down the stairs and injured her ankle/leg. It's not like she could run as normal, as shown by her falling over when exiting the house.

  11. There are many different Halloween universes. If you want to watch the correct order, it's Halloween (1978), Halloween (2018), Halloween Kills, and Halloween Ends. John Carpenter had nothing to do with Halloween past 1. Halloween 3 is a spin-off. Then there is the Rob Zombie Halloween universe. John Carpenter envisioned Michael as a slow, stalking killer. Michael had no reason for his killings.

  12. You girls have to remember this is the 70s this movie was an first of it's kind and you keep trying to compare it to modern times since abilities lol you just can't. This was the movie that the others modeled after.
