【青森】森の中でのんびりステイ‼︎奥入瀬渓流ホテルby星野リゾートをたっぷり紹介!
Hello. I’m Taka from Zipang55. I’m currently at the Oirase Stream Hotel by Hoshino Resorts in Towada City, Aomori Prefecture. This time, I’m staying at the Oirase Stream Hotel while enjoying the Oirase Stream, and I’d like to share with you all the charms of the hotel. This channel mainly introduces hotels and other tourist spots around the country. It encourages me to make videos, so I would appreciate it if you could subscribe and rate my channel. Now, let’s get started. This time, I would like to introduce the following lineup. After introducing the hotel, the activities in the hotel, and the meals, I also participated in an activity to enjoy the Oirase Stream, so I would like to introduce that. It is about an hour’s drive from both Aomori Airport and Misawa Airport. There is a free shuttle bus from Hachinohe Station and Aomoriya, which I introduced previously . There is also a shuttle bus from Aomori Station, but it costs money. Advance reservations are required, so please check the official website. The concept of the Oirase Stream Hotel is “Slow Life in the Stream”. It offers a relaxing time in harmony with nature. There is a bonfire area in front of the hotel, so you can relax at night. A real fire was lit. Let’s go inside. The lobby is wood-based and quite spacious. The benches are colored and tall enough to make you feel like you’re sitting on the trees in the forest. It feels like you’re in the forest even though you’re inside a building. You can take off your shoes and climb up. There are many reception desks. There are also moss balls, which are famous in Oirase, on the desk. Oirase is famous for its moss, and in 2013 and 2014 it was selected as one of Japan’s precious moss forests, and academic conferences are held there. I arrived early today to participate in activities. I will summarize that later. The amenities were free to take whatever you needed. At the back of the lobby, there is a large fireplace called “Myth of the Forest” designed by Taro Okamoto. It’s very nice. When it comes to Oirase Keiryu Hotel, this is often shown here. There were many seats. The building is divided into the West Building and the East Building, and is connected by a passageway. There was a souvenir shop in the middle of the passage. As you would expect in Aomori, many apple products were sold. There were many kinds of apple juice. There are many kinds, so it’s fun to try them all. Ice cream was also sold. Oirase Stream is an area along the river that flows from Lake Towada, and it is about 14 kilometers from Oirase Hotel to Lake Towada. The Stream Library in the West Building has powerful works such as Taro Okamoto’s “River God”. You can take off your shoes and go inside. There are about 100 books that you can enjoy reading and deciphering the depths of nature. It is spacious, so it seems like children can play there too. The library also had drinks that you could drink freely. Coffee, tea, and herbal tea were available. They all had a nice aroma and were delicious. Outside there is a “babbling deck”. You can sit on the sofa seats and relax while listening to the sound of the Oirase Stream. There was also a terrace seat by the river. There was also a plan to eat breakfast there. It was not free to use. I took a while to relax while drinking the apple juice I had bought at the shop earlier. It was a very relaxing time. When I checked in, I was given a simple map of Oirase Gorge and a guide to the building. The map of Oirase Gorge was easy to understand, as it had a rough outline and the required time. It seems like you can enjoy nature such as birds and flowers. The building is large and has an East Building and a West Building. The East Building has a lobby and “Ringo Kitchen” which serves buffets for dinner and breakfast. The West Building has the Keiryu Library and Keiryu-BASE. There are rooms in each building, but the East Building and the West Building are a little far apart. Keiryu-BASE accepts activities and sells moss balls. Moss balls are made by wrapping moss around plants, and are an expression of the nature of Oirase Gorge. We were also able to water the moss. When you water it, it tries to absorb more water, so it looks more beautiful. They also sold gourd lamps. They came in various shapes and were beautiful. You can also experience making a gourd lamp. The price varies depending on the size, but it seems that you can experience it from 5,000 yen. They also sold goods such as water bottles. There was a reception desk for activities and a waiting room for the shuttle bus, which was spacious. The reservation status of activities was also projected. The shuttle bus goes to Kumoi Falls. It is convenient because you can take the bus partway, take a walk, and come back. There is also a seat in the waiting room, so you can wait leisurely. Moss balls were also grown in front of the bus stop in front of the hotel. There were many moss balls placed among the fine plants. They have a beautiful green color. Now let’s head to the room. This time, it is the most reasonable Japanese-style room. There are many indoor shoes and slippers. It is a spacious room. This time, there are three beds because three people stayed. The desk is two-tiered so you can work. The TV is also large. There is a mirror with a light, which is helpful when getting ready in the morning. There is a long sofa by the window, so you can stretch your legs and relax. This time, the room was not a river view, so the view was not so good. There is a large public bath, but there was also a shower room in the room. The sink was also clean. It may be a little small for multiple people to get ready. The shower room had a rain shower and a handheld shower. There are no bath towels in the large public bath, so you need to bring them from your room in a bag. The toilet was also new and clean. There was a closet, and indoor wear was provided. It was also nice that there was a deodorizing spray. A kettle, coffee, and tea were provided. The coffee was made with beans from Ethiopia. The bed looked compact, but I was able to sleep without worrying too much. This time I stayed in this room for one night. The price was 27,285 yen per person for a weekend stay with breakfast and dinner. Since it was a weekend stay, it was a little expensive. It seems that there are rooms with semi-open-air baths and rooms with terraces other than the room I stayed in this time. Actually, I had already participated in a walk along the Oirase Gorge before checking in. I would like to introduce that later. There are activities to enjoy the Oirase Gorge in each season. The time is fixed, so it would be nice if you could combine them well. Please check the official website. Now, let’s participate in the activities in the building and head to the hot spring. In the moss art watching, you can see the real moss on the walls of the building. We lend out magnifying glasses, so you can get a close-up look at the moss. It’s amazing that there is real moss on the walls of a building. There are several types of moss, and when you look closely with a magnifying glass, you can see the differences between the types. There was not much explanation for the moss art watching, and it was only 15 minutes long, so I think it’s fine to just drop in casually. On the babbling deck, the babbling cider garden was held. Various types of alcohol are sold at the terrace seats outside. There was beer, wine, etc. There were many types of alcohol, so it was easy to understand with the comparison table. Please find the alcohol that suits your taste. Prices varied depending on the type of alcohol, but they were sold between 800 and 2000 yen. Dried fruit was also served with the drinks. The outdoor terrace seats were crowded, so if you plan to use them, it may be best to come early. The event called “Stream Discovery” introduces the history of Oirase Stream and the creatures that live there. You can learn a lot about Oirase Stream, so please participate. Drinks were served in the lobby only during the evening hours. There was Hassen sake, apple juice, and Hirosaki cider. It was nice that alcohol was free to drink. The large public bath was located in the corridor between the West and East buildings. There are two large public baths, an indoor bath and an open-air bath. You can hear the sound of the river from the open-air bath, but it’s not in a visible position. The open- air baths seem to be designed differently for men and women. I was able to take my time in the bath, but it was a bit of a hassle to bring towels such as bath towels from my room . Now, let me introduce the long-awaited dinner. This time, it was a buffet at the Aomori Apple Kitchen. For an additional fee, you could also choose a restaurant called “Sonore” that serves French cuisine. There were also replicas of apples on display. There is only one real one, so please try to find it. The buffet requires a reservation and was quite crowded. It gets crowded on weekends and during long holidays, so be careful as you may have to line up even if you come at the designated time. The buffet had many dishes using apples and Aomori specialties. There were salads such as lettuce, apples and dressing, carrot rabe, caprese, apple potato salad, apple and shrimp mustard sauce, and salmon marinade. They all looked delicious. There was Japanese food such as mustard-pickled cucumber , ham and cheese, Bagna Cauda pumpkin soup, marinated summer vegetables, and scallop carpaccio. It was nice to be able to eat scallops, a specialty of Aomori. There was sea cucumber, yam with garlic soy sauce, and rice cracker soup, a specialty of Tohoku. There was also grilled squid, chicken diablo, and bouillabaisse. There was also a seafood topping bowl. You could put as much tuna, salmon, sweet shrimp, and negitoro on it as you wanted. There was also soba noodles on the side. There was also a seaweed dish with grated yam and chikuwa seaweed. There was a cream stew with warm vegetables, chicken, and apples, and a scallop curry. The roast beef was cut up on the spot. It was excellent, and it wasn’t dry, which is typical of hotels, and it was very delicious. There was also a teppanyaki of summer vegetables. They also grilled unusual things like watermelon. There was also a wide variety of desserts. There was tiramisu, corn pudding, tomato tart, gateau raspberry, and matcha mochi. I was able to eat matcha chiffon cake with sauce and chips. There was also an apple juice tasting. The taste is quite different depending on the variety. There was also tea and coffee, which was good for a drink after a meal. There was also cafe latte and cappuccino. You could also order alcohol, but it was charged. There was a wide range of beer, highball, shochu, wine, etc. Everything at the dinner buffet looked delicious. There were many types, and many dishes using Aomori’s specialty products. Everything was delicious, and I was having a hard time because I wanted to eat a variety of things. The teppanyaki of summer vegetables was also delicious, but personally I would have preferred to eat the watermelon without grilling it. As I mentioned earlier, the roast beef was delicious and went well with the mashed potatoes. They also served freshly baked apple pie. The apple pie had a crispy crust on the outside, and inside was custard cream and apples, which went really well together. I could eat it with ice cream, and it was even more delicious when combined. It wasn’t too big, so I could eat it with other desserts. There were many types of desserts, so the buffet was very substantial. It was a little crowded, but there was no time limit, so I was able to enjoy it slowly. If you are staying at the hotel, please try it. Now, I’m going to go back to my room and rest. Good morning. It’s a nice day today too. I participated in the Keiryu Breath , which starts at 6am. It was morning exercises at the hot spring inn Kai. However, it ended quickly, so you don’t have to force yourself to participate. Instead, it might be a good idea to take a walk along the Oirase Stream in the morning. Now, let’s go to breakfast. The breakfast venue is the same as dinner. There is a salad of tomatoes and cucumbers. There is golden potato salad, pumpkin salad, and lettuce with dressing. There were sliced raw vegetables, apples, and pickled paprika. There was bacon, scrambled eggs, sausages, miso-grilled mackerel, and gratin. There were several kinds of bread and sweet bread available. They were mini-sized, so you could eat a variety of different kinds. There was also matcha and brioche. There was apple, cinnamon apple, strawberry jam, and more. Rice bowls were also available in the morning. There was salmon roe and salmon, and it was possible to make oyakodon. There was salmon, hijiki stew, and hiyayakko. There was Japanese food such as pumpkin stew, burdock, and Chikuzen stew. There was miso soup, natto, white rice, and some rice accompaniments. There were also corn flakes. There was also scallop ramen. It’s nice to be able to eat such things in the morning. Desserts were also available. There was fruit cocktail, white peach fresh mint, milk pudding, and apple. Drinks included orange, apple, iced coffee, tomato, and milk. Hot drinks were served with dinner. There was also freshly squeezed apple juice, which is very Aomori-like. The breakfast buffet was also substantial. You could eat breakfast along the stream for an additional fee, but it wasn’t buffet style, so I didn’t use it this time. The buffet has a wider variety of food. I was so happy to be able to eat an all-you-can-eat bowl of salmon in the morning. It was a little salty, but it was delicious. The scallop ramen had a strong dashi flavor and was very delicious. The scallops were also quite large. Even though it was morning, I felt like I could eat as many as I wanted. They also served pancakes made with apples. These went well with the cream and were delicious. The breakfast was also quite substantial, so please try it. Now, let’s try making moss balls. First, choose a sapling. The price varies depending on the size. The smallest size is available from 3,000 yen. However, it seems that the smaller size requires more frequent maintenance. This is the small size. The small size is quite small. You can see the size better when comparing it to the large size. There were several types of saplings, including maple and beech. In the experience, we wrapped moss around the seedlings. Since video recording was prohibited during the work, I will explain with photos. The moss is wrapped around the seedlings using strings. The work takes about 30 minutes. When I finally got my eye on it, it turned out very cute. It seems that there is no problem if you water it about once a day. Moss is surprisingly hardy, so it is fine even if you don’t take care of it that much. I’m looking forward to growing it at home. One thing I was dissatisfied with was that when I asked them to find a seedling in medium size, they recommended the large size without my permission. When I chose the staff’s recommendation, I was charged the amount for the large size after the work was finished, which made me feel a little uncomfortable. In the end, I paid the amount for the large size, but I was not careful enough. Please note that the size changes not only depending on the size of the moss but also the size of the tree. Now, I would like to eat a moss parfait in the lobby. There was a large moss ball on the table. It looks cute when placed on the table. It blended in with the surroundings and was placed in a nice way. First, a citrus lemon drink was served. Personally, I didn’t think it had much flavor, but it was neither good nor bad. The moss parfait was served with a smoked flavor. The smoke also had a woody scent. It was a cute parfait. It was inspired by the moss growing in the Oirase Stream. It was delicious, but the portion was quite small. It used matcha and white chocolate. It was about 2,500 yen each, so it was quite expensive. If you’re interested, please make a reservation. Now, let’s participate in an outdoor activity. I participated in the activity on the first and second days. First, I’ll introduce the Meibaku Guided Walk. We traveled by bus to the designated location. The inside of the bus was also decorated with moss, which was cute. The ceiling and window frames were decorated with moss. It’s amazing how much attention they paid to moss. The buses are random, so it seems like it’s luck whether you get the right bus. The Meibaku Guided Walk takes you on a walk around the Oirase Stream while introducing several waterfalls. The entire tour takes about 3 hours, but the actual walking time is about 2 hours. It’s a very beautiful forest. Oirase Gorge is a natural scenic spot that runs along the Oirase River, the only river that flows out of Lake Towada. It boasts one of the most beautiful valleys in Japan and has been designated a Special Place of Scenic Beauty and Natural Monument. Therefore, it is prohibited to take any natural objects home. The water is very clear. However, it is not recommended to drink it as there may be water from upstream. The water temperature in Oirase Gorge is also high. We walked along the river while listening to the explanation. It was relatively easy to walk because it was maintained as a sidewalk. If you put your hand in the water for about 10 seconds and feel a little numb, it is about 10 degrees. This grass has small thorn-like poison around the leaves, and if you touch it, you will be numb for about 2 to 3 hours. It grows quite everywhere, so you probably won’t notice it. The vines grow upwards, twisting around the tree in search of light. It is said that if it goes to a place where the light hits it, it will bloom. This tree is a Mizunara tree, and it is an acorn tree. Judging from its size, it is said to have been alive for more than 50 years. It seems that a small acorn happened to fall on this rock and it grew from there. I was also able to see moss flowers. It seems that the spores at the tip of the acorn are dispersed by the dryness and humidity of the air. There was also a harvestman nearby. It is a type of arthropod with a spider-like appearance and is characterized by its long legs. In the Edo period, blind people were called “zatou” ( a person who is blind), and it was named this because it looks like a person walking while exploring the surroundings with its long legs. It is said that it was the model for the sickle man in the Ghibli movie Spirited Away. Oirase Gorge has almost no tributaries from the upper to middle reaches. Therefore, even if it rains, it rarely rises due to the joining of tributaries. Also, the trees absorb moisture together, so the amount of water does not change throughout the year. When it rains, the general river rises, so it washes away the surrounding things. As a result, a riverbed is formed, but Oirase Gorge does not wash away, so it is characterized by a riverbed that is difficult to form. Fallen trees are not washed away, so moss grows on them. This is a sight unique to the Oirase Gorge. There was also a huge moss ball. It can grow on such a small rock. The flowers here are fake, and they attract insects, who walk on the flat part in the center to leave pollen. This tree was still standing three days ago. It’s amazing that it fell from the roots. It was a Meibaku guided tour, and it was very enjoyable because it explained not only the waterfall but also nature in detail. In the summer, the forest is overgrown, so it was a little difficult to see the waterfall. Now I’m going to enjoy the sounds of nature for a while. The last one is Choshi Otaki. Because this waterfall is so steep, the river fish could not rise up, so there were no fish living in Lake Towada. Recently, there are apparently princess trout that have been released by humans. The amount of water is amazing. It was a powerful waterfall. The guide will explain in detail, so please join us. Next, on the second day, we participated in a moss walk. Like the Meibaku guided tour, we traveled by bus to the starting point. This time we will be looking at moss. The places we walk are different from the Meibaku guided tour, so we can enjoy a different view. The river is flowing gently. This time, we were given a magnifying glass and a lens that can be attached to a smartphone camera to increase magnification. When you zoom in with the lens, it looks like a different world. There are about 2,000 species of moss in Japan, and 300 of them grow naturally in the Oirase Gorge. Moss does not have roots and absorbs nutrients with its entire body. Therefore, when it rains, it opens up all over and absorbs the nutrients contained in water and rainwater. It is quite deep when you learn about moss. This is not moss but a mushroom. It seems that it grows by parasitizing stink bugs, weakening them and using them as nutrients. There are many mushrooms that parasitize certain insects and creatures and grow by using them as nutrients. It’s kind of scary. It seems that the trees with moss are gradually growing slower. Moss does not grow easily in places with a lot of changes, so it seems that moss grows more easily when the growth speed of the trees slows down. During the moss walk, we were introduced to various kinds of moss. It was a great learning experience about moss and nature. I hope you will find an activity that you like and participate in it. Finally, I would like to introduce a restaurant near the Oirase Keiryu Hotel. It is a stone oven pizza restaurant called Ortolana. You can enjoy authentic pizza baked in a stone oven. First, you check in. There is also a buffet menu, and you can eat as much as you want for 2,580 yen for adults. The interior of the restaurant is like a log cabin, and it has an open feel. It is only open at lunch time, so it was a little crowded. You can also order pizza by the item. There are many types. There were also various drinks. In addition to pizza, the buffet also had salads, gratin, fried foods such as fried chicken. There were several types of pizza and it was all-you-can-eat. There was also curry and almond tofu. The pizza I ordered by the item was large and delicious, so I recommend you visit it. So, what did you think of this “Oirase Keiryu Hotel by Hoshino Resorts”? It is located in a wonderful place called Oirase Keiryu, the food was delicious, and it was a very enjoyable facility. Please visit it together with other facilities in Aomori. I hope this video will be of some help to you on your travels. Please subscribe to my channel, give me a high rating, and give me a super thanks, as it will encourage me to continue making videos. Thank you for watching until the end. See you in the next video. Bye .
