I came to Kamakura after a year’s absence from Tokyo by train. This time, it’s a two-day, one-night trip by myself. I hadn’t eaten anything since the morning, so I’ll have brunch right away. Iwata Coffee is a must-visit when I’m in Kamakura. I always bring a book with me when I travel by myself. The　book I chose to accompany me on this trip is “Happy Breakfast at Cafe Donguri” by Hiyoko Kurisu. I wanted to read it when I went to Kamakura because it’s set in Kamakura. Just from the table of contents, I could already sense it was going to be a wonderful story. It took 20 to 30 minutes for the pancakes to be cooked, so I spent the time reading a book until then. Just after 20 minutes, the pancakes were brought. Since I came here, I couldn’t help but order pancakes. This trip was the same as Yamepi’s. The pancakes were visually perfect, like something out of a picture book. With plenty of maple syrup. It was too good. They were freshly baked, so I ate them while they were still warm. The outside was crispy and the inside was fluffy and delicious. The best part of traveling alone is being able to do as you please without trying to do anything special just because you’re on a trip. I feel like I want to read a little more, but I think I’ll enjoy sightseeing soon. I went to Miffy Oyatsudo, which is right next to Iwata Coffee. I wanted to go when I heard that it had opened last year. I didn’t have time to look around the Ise store at my leisure, so I’m glad I was able to look around at my leisure. I also bought Miffy dorayaki in Ise. This time I bought custard dorayaki. After that, I strolled down Komachi-dori. I’m glad the weather is nice, but it’s very hot today too. A select shop for tableware, also in Ebisu. Colorful tableware perfect for summer is lined up in the store. There is also a cafe inside the store. The stool stand in the back was so cute that I was really hesitant to buy something. Komachi-dori is decorated with Tanabata decorations. I went to an accessory shop that I found while walking. Apparently, you can buy accessories that are sold for 2,000 to 8,000 yen at department stores and brand shops at wholesale prices starting from 220 yen. I was surprised at how cheap they were. I was just looking for some simple hoop earrings. It was an interesting system in which the products come out of here after you pay. I bought some cute earrings. Next, I went to a Mino ware store. All the Mino ware in the store can be purchased for just 600 yen. There were many dishes that looked easy to use on a daily basis. I fell in love with this dish at first sight and decided to buy it. I never thought I would buy dishes when I came to Kamakura. I went to Tsurugaoka Hachimangu Shrine, which I visit every time I come to Kamakura. It looks like it’s hot even for Yamepi. It takes a lot of courage to climb all these stairs in this heat. I’ll do my best to climb. The view from the top of the stairs is also wonderful. My daily routine for traveling to Kamakura is to pray for a wonderful trip and draw a fortune slip. Today’s fortune is green. The result of the fortune was “Good luck”. I’ve heard that the fortunes at Tsurugaoka Hachimangu Shrine are often “bad luck”, so I’m happy that it was “good luck”. Actually, I made two wishes, but when I looked at the “Wish” column, I got goosebumps when I saw that it said “Please wait a while for the second wish”. It’s been a while since I’ve come on a solo trip with Yamepi. After visiting the shrine, I just went around the places I wanted to go. Although the best time to see them had passed, I was soothed by the hydrangeas blooming on the roadside. First, I could see my first destination. I went to Romiuni, a jam and baked goods store that I always stop by when I come to Kamakura. I bought some baked goods. Next, I stopped at the main store of Toshimaya, which is also famous for its Hato Sable. My goal was the “Hato Holder”, which is only available at the main store. I saw it on SNS and I definitely wanted to buy it when I went to Kamakura. It’s a special item because it can only be purchased at the main store. The Hato Saburo that I bought on my last trip to Kamakura is still cute. I fell in love at first sight with the new product, the Hato Sable sticky notes. I bought this item. I’m very satisfied that I was able to buy everything I wanted. I feel like I’ve already enjoyed Kamakura quite a bit. I decided to take a break at a cafe very close to the station. A new store of my favorite POM PONCAKES. The main store can only be reached by taking a bus from Kamakura Station, so I’m glad that they’ve opened a store near the station. Even the receipt is cute. I ordered my favorite lemon cheese pie. I’m glad to have found it again after such a long time. I also bought a lemon cake for takeout. There were other places I actually wanted to go, but I enjoyed Kamakura for the first time in a long time. There was only an hour left until the hotel check-in, so I decided to relax at the cafe until check-in time. The sourness of the lemon was refreshing and very delicious. I continued reading in the quiet store. My favorite Coji Coji bookmark. A book about breakfast, which is often overlooked. It really made me realize how important breakfast is… Another favorite cafe in Kamakura has been added. It’s almost time to check in, so I head to the hotel. The hotel I’m staying at today is the Hotel Metropolitan Kamakura. I’m excited because it’s been a while since I’ve stayed at the Metropolitan. It’s close to the station and easy to access, which is a nice point. Kamakura is a place you can enjoy even on a day trip, but it’s become a tradition to stay at a hotel for a night and relax. I’m very happy to know that some people have actually visited Kamakura after learning about my trip to Kamakura. After checking in, I headed to my room. I felt a little embarrassed when I was told, “Thank you for always using our service.” I knew that was the manual, but… This is the room I’m staying in today. This is the room I’m staying in this time. There is a spacious separate sink as you enter the room. It’s a moderate twin room with two beds. There is a raised space at the back, and a sofa where you can relax. It’s a nice room that’s spacious enough for one person to spend time alone. There is a TV directly opposite the sofa, so you can watch YouTube and NETFLIX. I could see the beautiful blue sky from the window. The amenities are like this. I personally like that they have a steam eye mask. I also like that the bathroom and toilet are separate. The bath is also clean. I relax on the sofa for a while until dinner time. The heat has taken a lot of energy, so I replenish my minerals with Aquarius. I bought a cute pigeon holder at Toshimaya. I put it on my bag right away. So cute! I’m starting to get hungry, so I go out to eat dinner. One of my favorite things about summer is that the sky is still bright even before 7pm. Before dinner, I stop by a bookstore very close to the hotel. After enjoying my time at the bookstore, I head to eat dinner. I go to muji cafe on the first floor of the hotel. I often go to muji cafe for dinner in Kamakura. That’s because I love the pork ginger made with Kamakura seaweed pork. I want to try other restaurants, but I always come here. Of course, I also bring a pigeon keychain. The first thing that arrives is a salad set. Even though it’s a set, I like the size. The main dish, pork ginger, was brought out. This homemade ginger sauce is exactly what I like. You can tell it’s “pork ginger” in English, not in Japanese. The pumpkin salad was delicious with cream cheese in it. I’ll try making it with cream cheese next time. There was an empty seat, so I continued reading while drinking iced tea. I think I’ll finish another book. It was a heartwarming and wonderful book. When I went outside, the temperature was just right, so I took a short walk nearby. I rushed into the bookstore 10 minutes before closing and bought a book. When I returned to the hotel, Yamepi greeted me. I’ll take a bath right away. Which bath salt should I choose? I decided on the cherry blossom bath salt. I was able to relax by taking a long soak in the bath. This CENTELLA face mask was very good. The book I just bought is “Happy Galette” by Hisae Nakajima. I’m happy to have found a book with a binding that I like and a book with a obi that says “A dish carefully baked for you who have worked too hard”, which is perfect for tomorrow’s trip. It was a day full of fulfillment. I couldn’t sleep well yesterday, so I checked out slowly and headed to eat breakfast. I went to EENY, which is about a minute’s walk from the hotel. It’s a restaurant where you can choose your favorite breakfast plate and eat it, which I’ve always wanted to go to. The plate sizes range from S to L, so it’s nice to be able to choose according to how much you like it. I write my choice on the order sheet. I selected the EENY plate Ssize buttermilk pancakes, bacon, and fried egg. After placing my order, I took some time to read while waiting for my food to be prepared. I was reading Nakajima Hisae’s “Happy Galette.” The cafe latte arrived first. The original goods were cute. The book I read yesterday made me realize the importance of breakfast even more, so I’m happy that I can now make time to have an exciting breakfast like this. Reading made me want to make galettes for the first time in a while. As I was reading the book, a lovely plate was brought to me. I poured maple syrup over the buttermilk pancakes. Everything was seasoned to my liking, and it was a very satisfying breakfast. After spending a wonderful morning, I headed to my favorite muffin shop. It’s a bit of a walk from Kamakura, but it’s a muffin shop that I always go to. I try to go in the morning so I can buy what I want. Unable to bear the heat, I stopped off at a cafe. I ordered a slightly carbonated yuzu tea. It was quiet at this time, so it was comfortable. I spent the time relaxing while reading until my sweat dried. After a little walk, I went to my destination for lunch. I had been impressed by the deliciousness of the food when I had been there before, and I wanted to come back to this cafe. The numbered tag I was given was cute and shaped like a bird. I like this counter seat, where you can see the trains coming and going. There was only one set meal on the menu. On this day, the set meal consisted of black sweet and sour pork, edamame with white sesame sauce, and eggplant and paprika marinade. The black sweet and sour pork was so deliciously seasoned. The bitter melon topping added a nice accent. The edamame with white sesame sauce was gently seasoned. I want to be able to make food like this too. There were many places I wanted to go after this, but I had been walking under the hot sun and had been sleep-deprived for days, so I started to feel like I had heatstroke, and I decided to go home early, crying. I was glad that I had recovered a lot at ORS. Finally, I would like to introduce some travel memories I bought in Kamakura. I love the sight of the things I bought lined up on my desk after returning from a trip. First, the Hato Sable and Hato goods I bought at Toshimaya. First, the one I wanted the most was the “dove holder” in the shape of a stuffed dove sable. I attached it to my bag while I was in Kamakura. Each one has a different face, so it was fun to look for a mascot that I liked. By the way, the eyes on the other side are stars. Next was a dove sable-shaped sticky note. The cover is fluffy and feels good to the touch. The sticky note inside is also cute, just like the dove sable itself. Since I was there, I also bought a real dove sable. I’m thinking of putting ice cream in between them and making a cookie sandwich. I lined up the dove collection that I have been collecting little by little every time I go to Kamakura. This dove-themed dove collection is not officially sold online, so it has a special feeling that you can only buy it at the main store in Kamakura. Next is the muffin from Okashi Nikaido. It is the most delicious muffin I have ever eaten. This time, I bought two types, “plane” and “salt caramel”. I like them all, but my favorite is “salt caramel”. Next is the “Miffy Dorayaki” I bought at Miffy Oyatsudo. I bought dorayaki with bean paste in Ise, so I chose custard in Kamakura. The Miffy-shaped dorayaki is so cute that I can’t help but buy it. I bought my favorite lemon cake at Romi Uni and POMPON CAKES. I’m looking forward to comparing them. Next is the earrings I bought at beller. They look simple at first glance, but the catch part is a little quirky and I love the design. Next is the dish I bought at ARAI on Komachi-dori. It’s a store where you can buy all Mino ware dishes for 600 yen, and I was able to find dishes that I like. I was depressed recently because I broke my favorite dish, so I’m happy to find another nice dish. Lastly, I bought “Happy Galette” by Nakajima Hisae at a bookstore in Kamakura. I’m happy to have found a nice book on this trip. Those were the purchases on this trip to Kamakura. There were other places I wanted to go and things I wanted to buy, but I think I’ll save those for my next trip to Kamakura. This trip to Kamakura really made me realize that traveling is fun.
