さつまいもの蒸しパン
Today, we are going to cook steamed cake with sweet potatoes we gathered the last Fall. First we would peel the skin off from the potatoes and cut them in 5 to 7mm cubic size. Then we would put them in a bowl and microwave for about 5 minutes with 500W. We have around 100g with the skin already peeled. This is after it’s microwaved. It’s soft now, so we would cool it down. While cooling down the potatoes, we would prepare other ingredients. 200g of flour (sieved), 40 to 100g of granulated sugar (we used 100g this time), 2 eggs, 140cc of milk, a little salt. We would break the eggs and separate the white and yellow. Then we would beat the white until it would stand still. After beating the white, we would put the sugar little by little and beat it some more. After the sugar, we would put the egg yellow and salt and mix. In the end, we would pour the milk little by little again. After mixing the milk very well, we would put flour. One tip to put flour is that not to mix too much otherwise the flour becomes gluten and becomes hard. We can leave some flour as powdery, but we just cut and mix briefly. After mixing the flour, we would pour the ingredients in cake molds about 60% from the top. Then we would put sweet potatoes on top and steam for about 10 minutes. When steaming is done, we would like to confirm it’s done by sticking tooth pick like this in the middle. If there’s not sticky thing on the tip, you can tell it’s done. Instead of microwaving the potatoes, we could slice it really thin and put them on top of the ingredients in cake molds and steam. It may taste a little different, but we guess it’s almost the same.
