Hello, I am currently in Osaka, Japan. And our goal today is to get glasses. Let’s get glasses in Japan. Oh, right now , Dotonbori is this straight line. It’s a shopping street all along. There are a lot of food here. It’s around 11:00, noon. Most of the people I walked past weren’t Japanese. They were all tourists. What’s this? Udon or soba ? Yes, there’s even a line. Jins, an eyeglasses store, can be found all over Japan. But the branch we’re going to is the Namba branch. It’s the largest branch in this area . There’s a lot of food. I’m hungry . Look over there, little brother. The long-nosed Tengu is here. This should be the building: Namba Parks . Yes , I found it. Here it is, Jins. You’ve finally arrived. Why don’t you ask ? If I want to get these frames, how many days will it take? If they ’re progressive and come in colors, do you want to try them? How much does it cost? Okay , as I mentioned earlier. The purpose of this trip is to get glasses for my father because he is farsighted like an old person. So he wants progressive glasses that are good for near vision and clear for far vision. How long does progressive glasses take? He is farsighted like an old person. Progressive lenses take about a week. 1 week. If we assume that we get them today. If we get the glasses today, next Sunday/the 20th, Sunday, we will go home on Saturday. What time will we return on Saturday? What time is Saturday? Saturday/ What time is Saturday? Saturday , the noon flight . Here it opens at 11:00. We won’t make it in time. Saturday, noon. Noon. Noon flight ? Noon flight. Noon flight, right? Yes, yes , noon. I get it. So it might not be in time. If we accept, we have to accept it on Friday. Yes, Friday can’t be done, right ? That’s right . It won’t be finished in time. Usually it takes a week. So I can’t say anything. There’s a high chance that it might not be finished in time . It might not be in time. But if you get normal lenses, if you get normal lenses , but normal glasses , right? Farsightedness is ok. But if the glasses are nearsighted, you might have to get them. But if you have lenses Today is fine. But if you don’t have one, it will take a week. If you have normal farsightedness, it should be fine. No, 30 minutes is fine, right? Yes . For progressive , how much more does it cost ? Progressive lenses are 5,500 yen. They are 5,500 yen more than the price of the frame. 5,500 yen plus 5,500 yen (1,293 baht) is cheap. Very cheap. Add another 5,500 yen (1,293 baht) is super cheap. How will dad cut them? He will cut glasses for nearsighted, one for nearsighted, one for longs. It’s like this . If it’s not yet available, he can come get them tomorrow. His vision has changed, right? Okay. And you? If you want to do it, do it. Do it at the same time so you can come get it at the same time. You might not want it today. Oh, so your mom’s vision has changed too? It hasn’t. It’s just that she wants to make another one . Let’s say something happens to this one, it breaks or something. She will be able to use the other one. It’s a little over a thousand. It’s very cheap. You can’t even buy the frame in Thailand. Not including it. Usually you buy it in Thailand. We need to pay for a frame, right? And the cost of the lenses separately. It’s a pity that we didn’t make it in time for progressive glasses, but… Next time, stay in Japan for a while longer because it takes at least a week to get glasses . If you come here to get glasses , you might need to allow some time for progressive glasses that need to be ordered. But if they already have lenses, you can get them today. But today, we came on Sunday morning, around noon. They said they would pick us up the next day, which is next Sunday. So it’s a week and a week. I thought, for example, if we come on Sunday, we might get them on Friday or Saturday because the information said it would take about 5-7 days. But in reality, it’s not like that. We have to leave longer. There’s a risk that it won’t be in time because we have to order new lenses. What’s this? Try to feel the weight. Oh, it’s light /very light. And look at the legs . The one I’m wearing, the one my mom is wearing is also Jins, but it was made in Tokyo . It’s light , but the frame is very nearsighted, so the frame is thick. But in fact, the frame is light. But this one is very light . But this is a different style. This is like this. Which one, mom ? Daddy, Daddy. See, it has this kind of frame. If Daddy wants to try changing it , it’s very light . Try it and see which one you like. It also has a color adjustment type. It adjusts color when exposed to sunlight, right? Wait, I should add more. Is this? No. This isn’t color adjustment. Are these actually sunglasses? Oh, try the kind that adjusts color when exposed to sunlight. One and the other long. Dad wants to ask, if your lenses are for farsightedness, you want lenses like, let ’s say, when exposed to sunlight , they adjust color. Are there any like this ? No. This one, like this one, can adjust color when exposed to sunlight. When exposed to sunlight, it adjusts color. How much does it cost? Oh, okay. And can I wait to receive them right away? Or how many days? I don’t know if the lenses they have are available or not. Go . Okay . Excuse me. I just have a question. Lenses that change color when exposed to sunlight. Are there lenses like that? Yes, there are lenses that change color. You can sit over there. Okay . There are English and Chinese. Which one should I get? English: This one, plus another 5,500 (1,293 baht) isn’t expensive. Photochromic lenses, but, this one , or just 5,500 (1,293 baht) or don’t have to add it ? The normal price plus this one , plus it, right? Plus another 5,500 (1,293 baht). Yes, and the time , right? How long does it take? If you have the lens, it’s 40 minutes. If you don’t, then a week. If you have the lens, it’s 40 minutes. But if you don’t have the lens, then a day. If you don’t have the lens, then a day. It has a lot of tendons , it’s quite difficult to chew and swallow, you have to chew a lot. The flavor is, it’s deeper, I should say deeper, maybe because it’s… It might be marinated. It might have been aged. So it has a more intense flavor, stronger than other white fish that I have eaten. I think it’s good. I think it’s good. The previous piece was 130 yen (30 baht). Here we go again, 2nd, 3rd, 4th , 5th time, my tooth fell on it this time. Oops , it broke, it broke. Finally, something must have fallen down. It ‘s here ! It’s like a Pokemon ball. It ‘s like a sticker. Oh, a magnet . A refrigerator magnet . Yes, a Pokemon character. I want it, I want it , I like it. As a souvenir . And it’s only given once. No matter how many more plates you put in, it won’t work. We have a lot of experience. Yeah, it should be programmed that it gives this amount. You have to eat this much at this table in order to get it. And I used to, I used to get this much. And then I kept eating, no matter how much I played, it would n’t work. Only once, maybe twice. Never / Yes, once before / Really? Try this. I ordered it. It’s fish giblets . I ‘ve never eaten it before. Try a plate. It’s 130 yen (30 baht). The fish giblets are cod. They said the sauce is spicy. The texture is oily and crunchy. It ‘s very hard to chew. I want you to think of something like, what is it? I can’t imagine. Let my dad try it. Let my dad explain. He might be able to explain it better. No, you have to put it in. It’s like tendon or beef tendon or something. But it doesn’t smell bad at all. These are considered dolls, right? / Yes , all kinds of dolls. Dolls, sculptures, dolls are everywhere. They say there are thousands of them. Dolls at this temple. The reason they have to put the dolls here is because , first of all, in the Shinto religion, Japan, they believe that everything, every object , has a spirit residing inside. Inside that object , especially dolls that look like people, they believe that there is a spirit residing in it. Now, when people are going to throw away a doll, it’s like not honoring the doll. So he’s going to throw them away. And send the unused dolls here. And put them here. Here, they receive dolls from all over the country. They receive them and put them here. And there will be a ceremony. Once a year, they will have a ritual to burn these dolls. Burning to burn / burning to throw them away. Burning to burn these dolls is like a show of releasing the spirit. It’s a show of gratitude to the spirit that resides in the dolls. That they have protected the girl. Or the previous owner of the doll. Release them. Something like that. And what do most of the people who come here do? Oh, right. The gods of this shrine are famous for asking for love. And asking for children . About pregnancy. Like asking for pregnancy ? Something like that. And asking for the child to be born healthy. Something like that. They come to ask for this. But , it’s like when we make a wish to a god , and the gods grant us a wish, they use the verb kaeru as well. It’s a wish that comes true. So, there is. So, kaeru is a frog. Yes, it’s a homonym. So it’s a frog . Something like that. No wonder there are frogs here. Sister: Oh, this, this. They also donated these dolls . Now, they said that on the basement floor of the shrine, there are dolls that are called cursed, that have a lot of negative energy. So they are / dark? Dark? Yeah , so they won’t let the public see them. The story is that the previous owner said that these dolls’ hair can grow long by itself or something. And there were all sorts of strange things. So they sent the dolls here. And then they kept them under the shrine. Inside are full of phalluses. They ‘re like wooden rods. The phallus shape is probably related to asking for children or something. Oh, and another thing, the story about the shrine is that when people bring offerings, they will bring used underwear and bras. As an offering to the gods. It’s like, I don’t know why, but I think the gods like it this way. But in the past, they would put them outside as a display for people to see. But later, there were thieves. Thieves came and stole underwear and stuff. So later they wouldn’t let them be brought. / Won’t accept donations? No, no, they will. Yes, they won’t accept donations . They won’t accept them as offerings. Stealing second-hand underwear . Oh, to sell them. These are frogs. Frogs or toads? Mostly toads. They’re similar. Karo, right? Kaeru, Kaeru , Kaeru , Kaeru , Kaeru . And this is Awashima Temple. If my friends want to pray for love, having children , or having healthy children, I recommend that you stop by this temple. Or if my friends have dolls that you don’t use anymore that you want to donate, you can send them to the temple. They accept donations all year round. Let ‘s go in. Let’s eat at this restaurant. But I don’t know the price of plain rice, bro. I don’t know. Okay , 3 people. Yes, 3 people. Coming to the sea, must eat seafood. Fish . Rice fish? Fried? Yes, it should be. We’ve been in Osaka for 2 days since that day. I’m staying at the Raizan Hotel , at Shin Imamiya Station. But yesterday we didn’t go anywhere because it was raining really hard. It’s like a typhoon hit Japan. So I went out to buy some things and then came back to work for a long time. I met a Thai guy who is a soldier in Ratchaburi. He also came to stay here. He was very kind. We talked and today he went back. He gave me an umbrella because he probably won’t use it anymore. He also bought me some snacks. While I was working, thank you very much. Another interesting thing, my friends. It may sound a bit crazy, but since I stayed at this hotel, the first night, I had a strange experience. I slept and dreamed of a ghost. I saw a ghost. It’s like , lately , wherever I go, I see ghosts . If there are any. So I slept and dreamed of a ghost. At first, I was lying on the same bed that my mother was lying on. Then I dreamed of a ghost on the ceiling . I’m not sure if it was a man or a woman or something. I just saw a shadowy black thing. How are you, mom? Last night, mom slept here. And this is a bunk bed. This is dad sleeping here. Hello, I ‘m awake. And that ‘s it. I’m sleeping upstairs. Night For the second night, the first night, I saw a ghost, right? Nothing. Well, well , well. I went out and then it rained so I came back. The second night, I switched beds with mom . In case I moved to sleep in this bed and didn’t see anything, I let mom sleep in that bed instead. But at around 23:00, around 23:00, midnight, a little after midnight, I went to lie down and play with my mom over there. And then I fell asleep. We fell asleep together on that bed. While we fell asleep , mom had a dream. In the dream, I dreamt that we went somewhere. We got in the car and parked it somewhere. We got out of the car and mom got in alone. Non was in the car. And it was very dark. And that place was strange. There shouldn’t be any houses there. And then I met a friend, a woman. A woman’s old friend. I told him and said, ” Hey, I want to go to the bathroom.” I had to pee, so I asked to go in . I still hadn’t gone to the bathroom because it was strangely dark there, and the people there were strangely walking around. It was very dark, so we walked back to the car. It turned out that my son had gotten out of the car and was at the back of the car with his friend. My friend was shocked. I asked my friend what he was doing there and how my son got out of the car. My friend said, ” Come and take care of Non.” But at that moment, I was surprised. I was shocked and woke up with a start. When I woke up with a start, I couldn’t sleep. It was after 2 a.m. and I knew it was probably a ghost. This was a ghost because I could communicate with my mind that when I talked to him, I didn’t speak. I used my mind to speak. During that time, Non was sleeping next to me, so I hugged him and said to myself, ” Who was that just now? Whoever it is, if you come, tell me you’re worried. Come and help take care of me.” I said, ” Thank you.” But if you’re here to trick me, I’ll send you to hell. Send you to hell. Um, I’ll send you there. ” After that, around 3 a.m., I woke up to go to the bathroom. My mom and I woke up to go to the bathroom. After that, I came back to sleep on the second floor, right here, in the same place. When I came back to sleep here, I dreamed that my mother didn’t tell me anything about the place I saw. But when I came back to sleep here, I dreamed that there was a woman who was like a little girl. She took me somewhere. She took me, uh, took me to a shrine or something. She took me to follow her. Something like that. And then it was like my mother knew. My mother knew that this wasn’t a person or something. It was a ghost . He was like shocked or something. And he was like, “I didn’t come to trick you.” It was like he didn’t come to trick you or anything. He said, “I did n’t come to trick you. ” Something like that . And then he left. In the dream, it was like we were still going. We went and put our hands together to pay respect. We went to the grave or the shrine or something. Or the doll. Or it was the temple . The doll temple that we went to the day before. Awashima Temple. I do n’t know. Okay, it’s like that. Let me tell you a funny story. Today, we will travel to Koyasan, which is a temple that is considered one of the largest and most important temples . It has been listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Waiting for the bus, but I don’t know if the buses are all the time. They are all the time . We’ve arrived at the first World Heritage site in Koyasan. It’s the gate . There’s only a gate, right? Why did you get off? Dai-mon. The entrance. The big gate. Let’s slowly collect them one by one. We have all day here. Here we go. We just came from here. Koyasan Station. This temple , Daishi Kyokai, Kongobu-ji. And the last one is, This is the tomb . Okay , can you make a gesture that you can’t ? Cute . One , two, three. Okay. Thank you. It’s cold today . It’s cold. Where are you from? Thai. Thai. Your Japanese is very good. I got a little bit. This is called the entrance gate of various Japanese temples. It looks like a torii. Is this it? You guys must be familiar with this type of Torii, which is the entrance gate when you enter a shrine, temple or whatever. It’s like we’re entering the world of the gods. This one is the same, but this is a huge Torii. It ‘s divided into 2 levels, see? It’s a distinctive feature of this place. Let’s walk in now. Come follow me . It’s divided into 3 entrances. Each entrance represents emptiness, calmness, and peace or something like that. We’ll walk through this gate into the world of the gods. This is the beginning of our adventure in Koyasan. Let’s go to the threshold. We’ve entered the world of the gods. Let ‘s sit here. Let’s have a picnic. Picnic. Before we continue our journey, let’s see other parts of Koyasan. Let’s recharge a bit. It’s already noon. I bought these things from the supermarket this morning. Onigiri. Sit. What’s there? Fish This is sardines. Grilled iwashi . Saba . Pickled saba onigiri. Eel. And this bento. Can I go up and pay my respects? No. Over there, they’re stop only. Yeah , they don’t let you go inside. This is the guesthouse. If we suppose we come to stay at Koyasan , come to sleep at the temple , come to sleep at the temple, that is, come to stay. There will be many buildings. This is one of them. Is that right? Yes . Oh, no. It should be. It should be these. These? Yes . Are those the old guesthouses? They’re like monks’ guesthouses. Oh, monks’ huts , monks’ huts . Yes. And it ‘s open to outsiders to stay as well. It’s very nicely done. It’s a walkway like A small wooden balcony. Their houses are raised high to let the wind flow below. The air is not hot. The air is cool. Yes, like under a Thai house. Under the house , but the Thai house is raised higher than a person can walk under. Or can you lie down and swing a hammock or something. But the Japanese houses are raised about a meter, 80 cm. And there is a wind underneath. Hmm, if I come to stay here, how much is it per night? Oh, it’s a lot. From what I saw, it should be several thousand baht. Per night, per person. I told him how much? Per person, 3-4,000 baht? Baht, baht. At first, at first, we planned to stay overnight too. But when we looked at it, 3 people, it would be tens of thousands of baht, not yen. Just per night, so we were like, oh, we can stay at a Thai temple. It’s free. We go early in the morning , but we have to go out for alms. We can’t come to sleep here. At the forest temple in Chiang Mai, the abbot said, laypeople can pitch a tent and sleep. There’s a hut inside. The hut up there, laypeople. It’s quiet. And over there. I’ve encountered every case, layperson. The monks have also been hit by laypersons. This temple is worth going to. The forest temple in Chiang Mai, Pang Kuet forest temple. If we go there, it ‘s not Wat Pong Duat. Oh, Wat Pong Duat. If we go there, we will go back again. We discussed the Dhamma with the abbot. It’s very good. Oh, cherry blossoms. He invited me to sleep. Oh, beautiful . Yes , this one is beautiful. It’s white. Light pink . Wat Pa Pong Dueat. Yes, I’m going to Pang Kud, where is the owner ? Luang Pu Buaket . Yes. / Pang Kud , Wat Pa Pang Kud, Luang Pu Buaket. Bring the ticket . Here we arrive at Kongobu-ji Danjo Garan. The big gate we just went to is called Dai-mon , which means big gate. The main gate, the big gate . This one is called Jumong, which is the middle gate , a little lower. Come into the Koyasan area. This goes to the building, the main temple. Inside is the oldest building in the Koyasan area. It was built about 1,200 years ago. But this gate here, this gate here has been burned many times. It’s been burned 3, 4, 5 times. And then it was rebuilt. Burned and rebuilt. This one? Yes. This one, what you see here, has been rebuilt. Let’s go in. Let’s go into the part of the gods inside. Go into another dimension, another dimension. This temple area is called Danjo Garan. It is the oldest building that was built together with Koyasan at the beginning. This is around 1,200 years old. It is the oldest. And this area is divided into 2 parts. The first part is called the condo. Inside, they will perform religious ceremonies , chant and worship. They will do it in this building. And inside, there is a room with a Buddha image for worship in the center. And you will walk in circles like the Tithe when we went to China. That one would walk in a circle. Yes, you walk around the main building at the main hall. Go clockwise. It’s the same style. But it has been adjusted to be Let’s make it Japanese style. It’ll have a Japanese theme a little bit, with mats and a minimal feel. As I said, Danjo Garan consists of 2 main buildings. That is the main hall condo. And another one is this one, which is the Daito. This is the Konpo Daito, which is a pagoda. A pagoda? Yes, inside will be kept Buddha statues of Vairocana Buddha. Oh , right . I have to explain it like this. Shingon Buddhism is the same as Vajrayana . What is Vajrayana ? It is a sect of Buddhism that is very popular in Tibet and Mongolia. Vajrayana is a part of Mahayana. It is not like Hinayana Mahayana . It is like, from the very beginning. Buddhism, our Buddhism, Theravada Buddhism, Hinayana Buddhism , is the Buddhism that is closest to the very beginning. Close to the Buddhism, the Buddha’s era, whether it is about The teachings and the various monastic disciplines are very similar to early Buddhism. Most of all, but after the Buddha passed away, hundreds of years passed, right? There will be those who split off and became their own sects, one of which is Mahayana. They will have teachings that may be a little different, such as the monastic discipline, which may not be as strict as the Theravada, which requires keeping the 250 precepts. Mahayana, for example, allows monks to drink alcohol and get married, etc. It may be a bit of abridged, depending on which sect . As for Vajrayana, it was a split off from Mahayana . Vajrayana has , okay, let’s go back to the beliefs . If it’s the belief of Theravada in our country, right? It is the belief that we will practice ourselves in order to be free, to reach Nirvana , not in this life, then in the next life , or if not in the next life , then in the next life, right? As for Mahayana, they believe in the Bodhisattva, that to / help, to help fellow human beings , to help all beings, may be ready to go to Nirvana, but not yet. Please help first, give to people, give to all lives first , then you yourself will go to Nirvana, something like that. Or some , or some people have already gone to Nirvana, but come back to help, come back to help all beings to go to Nirvana, like Ksitigarbha who still refuses to go, right? Something like that. As for Vajrayana, they believe that everyone is , is able to go to Nirvana in this life, no need to wait for the next life. Can go in this life through the method of using mantras and also meditating. In our Theravada , the Buddha will not praise the use of magic spells, witchcraft, right? But in Vajrayana, it is possible. Use mantras to take yourself to Nirvana in this life, no need to wait for the next life. And another thing is that they have a principle of belief that everyone has , is, the Buddha within themselves. Like from the beginning, because they already have the Buddha within themselves, they can achieve Buddhahood in this life. This is the main thing that Vajrayana believes in. Now, the 3 main factors of Vajrayana, the 3 main keys, they will have a secret. That is, the Buddha teaches the Dharma to everyone, right? But he believes that there will be one teaching, a secret that God, the Buddha, teaches only to people who truly have the ability to attain Buddhahood in this life. Vajrayana believes in this. And they say that the 3 secrets are the 3Ms. The 3Ms are not man, machine , and material. But these 3Ms are mudra, mantra , and mandala . What are they? The 3Ms are 1. 1 M is mudra . Mudra is about hand symbols . You’ll notice that when the Buddhas of Vajrayana make their hands, they make their hands in various postures, like this, something like that. Or as we see in Naruto’s ninja, the one who makes hand gestures like a jutsu , hold it first, I’ll show you. Hand gestures like this, like this, clasp hands like this. Oh, this is a pose that he’s good at. Because he believed that this is like a physical body of the Buddha , the physicality of the Buddha. In terms of mantras, they will use it as a recitation of mantras , which is like the words of the Buddha. The language he uses is Siddhadharma language, called Siddhadharma language, which is the language of northern India . The various mantras that are like the mantra sentences that are popular, most of which we see , such as Om Mani Padme Hum. Om Mani Padme Hum is like the first sentence of the Indian mantra. Om Mani is a gem , gem, chintamani Padme is a lotus, Hum is like a soul or something like that. Therefore, Om Mani Padme Hum is a gem in a lotus , which is a mantra that is very popular. In Tibet or Mongolia, both laypeople and monks like to recite this mantra. The Japanese have also adapted it into a Japanese version, called Bonji. In Japan, it is called Bonji. It is a written mantra. In the last part is the last 3M’s. The last M is the mandala . The mandala is similar to a mandala. In English, they call it a mandala. A picture, a drawing that is like a universe , a pattern or something. This is a representative part of the mind. That is, when meditating, Vajrayana monks will meditate and focus, focus on the mandala. In order for the mind to immerse itself in a deep level of meditation , it’s like meditating or something like that . Yes, it’s exactly the same. Meditation , such as staring at a flame, or staring at the earth . Staring at the earth, or staring at different colors, these are all good meditations. This is a type of meditation. This is their use of the mandala. The mandala is a meditation. So, those are the 3M’s. The first M is the mudra . The second M is the mantra. The third M is the mandala. The three main secrets of the Vajrayana sect that lead to liberation, nirvana , and becoming a Buddha. And another thing that Vajrayana is different from Other Buddhist sects, they will have a name called the first Buddha, named Vairocana Buddha. They will give a lot of importance to this person. They will not give much importance to the Buddha like we see in our country. They will treat this person as their God . This , this is the house of Master Kukai. This is it? / Yes, this is the place where the Master threw the Master. Yes, let me show you this. This is the place where the entrance to the house is built next to the oldest pagoda that he built in the Koyasan area. Right here, right at the same time as this house. Now, I have to explain a little bit. Master Kukai used to be called Mao. Mao was a child who lived in this area. But he was interested in Buddhism since he was a child. This is the story. He said that his mother, before he got pregnant, had a dream that he was an Indian monk riding on a cloud and flew into his stomach. Then, his mother got pregnant. He gave birth to a boy named Mao. Now, when he was 15, he He went to study in Kyoto , and when he was 18, he went to university. But when he went to study, the university mainly taught Confucianism, Confucian philosophy. In the Heian period, around 800 AD, 1,200 years ago, he didn’t pay much attention to it. He was more interested in Buddhism. So he dropped out of university and went into the forest to study Dharma, do meditation, and stuff like that. And later he went to be ordained at a temple in Nara , a Buddhist temple in Nara. After he was ordained at a Buddhist temple in Nara, he changed his name. His stage name was Kukai , which means Ku, which means sky. Kai means sea. He was called Kukai because he practiced asceticism in a cave. And he was nurtured by the sea and sky until he came to use this name, Kukai. When Kukai went to be ordained in Nara, right? He found a scripture, which was a scripture of Vajrayana, a secret form of Buddhism. Secret sects , which he read, was interested in, he was interested in reading, but didn’t understand , so he said, okay, then he has to go to China to study this scripture correctly . When he was 30 years old, he traveled to China to study this scripture. He went to the city of Xi’an. Before, it was called Chang’an. Now it’s Xi’an. When he got there, he met a teacher named Hui Guo. He studied Vijavajrayana from this teacher for 2 years. When he finished his studies, he traveled back to Japan. But , but before he came back, he walked back here first. Before he came back , before he got on the ship, he came back to Japan. He brought back the Vajra Sutra equipment with him . And Vajrayana has a belief in an equipment called the Vajra. It’s like a small staff. Vajrayana . Hinayana, in our country or Theravada , means the teachings of the great monks, right? Mahayana means spreading to all beings, all beings . Vajrayana is the diamond vehicle . Vajrayana is like What is this diamond staff? He took that staff from the Chinese side. Listen carefully. From the Chinese beach. Oh really? Throw it across to Japan. Oh, so that he can go back and spread Vajrayana Buddhism in Japan. And the Vajra that he threw back is the place where he will set up a temple there. It floated and landed on this tree. Oh, is this tree still there? Yes, is it still there? / Yes, they surrounded the tree like, it got stuck , it got stuck. They say that it got stuck on the tree. Yes , on the branch . So this is the story. After he came back from China, when he arrived in Japan, right? He went looking for the thing that he threw. And he met a hunter with two dogs, a black and a white one. The hunter let the dogs lead the way. And he believed that the hunter , after that, disappeared. He thought that he might be a god or something. Who came as a guide . And those two dogs led him to meet an angel or some kind of goddess. And brought them to this place, which is a bit of a flat mountain . That can build a temple. And then we found the Vajra that they threw. It’s on this pine tree. Oh, and who climbed up to get it? I don’t know. It might have been not this high in the past. That’s why this pine tree is called the Vajra Pine. Or the Japanese name, it has a name . It’s called here . It’s called Sanko no Matsu. Sanko no Matsu , thrown right here. Sanko no Matsu, literally translated, is a pine tree with three prongs. The Vajrayana is like this. / Yes, the Vajra that has three prongs. The pine cones look like a mother-in -law . They’re going to collect some rocks and stuff. Just now, a group of Japanese people had a guide lead them. They chanted. They turned to different places and led the chanting. And then they came here. I don’t know what they collected. Oh, there must be a lot of them . For good luck, they even pushed the soil to collect them. I think they collected pine cones. But I don’t know what they collected. This tree should be. In any case, this tree should be very old. It must be thousands of years old. But there are two of them. I don’t know which ones. That’s right. I don’t know which branch it’s on. I don’t know which tree it’s on. Let’s try to guess. Let’s see. What’s there? An incense pot inside, child. There’s a room , a prayer room. A prayer room inside. Light candles. Which one is male, which one is female . Look, look at the lion. Look at the lion. Look at the lion. Open its mouth. And look at this. Shut your mouth. I know now . I know now, right? Cursing . Cursing ? Cursing/ Male is cursing? No, this is the female. The female is cursing. Male . Shut your mouth and listen to the cursing. Oh, because there’s a pole over there, right? With horns, right? So it will be male. Oh, it has horns on top. Normally, animals with horns have what? They’re males, huh ? Males are scared. Females, have you washed clothes yet? Go in. Over there . Brother Non, go over there. Mom . Oh, it’s spinning? Yes , no , no . This way ? In a clockwise direction. Clockwise, huh. It’s the same principle that we encountered in Tibet. The wheel of samsara. It keeps spinning. Two rounds , okay? One more round, four. Oh, isn’t it? Three, huh? Over? This is the fourth time already. Huh? Really ? Okay , 4 times already? 4, oh, over . Over . What is this? It ‘s like in Tibet, where we go and ring the bell. It’s the same, huh? 3, 3 people. Okay, okay . So we’ve arrived. The last place we’re going to, here in Koyasan. That’s the grave. Okunoin. Everyone’s end. Here, this way. On the left, on this side. No, not allowed. Here, the lantern. It says that there are more than 200,000 graves in this grave. Is that a lot? Yes. And there are a lot of lanterns. These lanterns. Hey, they’re on . They ‘re on. Yes, as soon as I mention lanterns, the lights are on. Like I said, this place. There are over 200,000 graves. And each grave is unique. Let me show you the first place. And the most famous one is the grave shaped like a rocket. This is the Saturn V rocket that sent humans to the moon in the Apollo 11 project. It belongs to the ShinMaywa company . ShinMaywa asked how the company is related to aerospace. They don’t make rockets, and they don’t have anything to do with making rockets. But they make parts for airplanes that are sent as a supplier to Boeing. So these parts are probably the personal preferences of the people who created the companies. This is Toyo Tires. Yes , Toyo tires. Yes, Toyo Tires . These companies made them as memorials, graves for their employees. And Toyota also has Panasonic , right? No, Panasonic is the owner. The owner of Panasonic came to set up a grave here. The owner, the person who founded Panasonic, is similar to Ksitigarbha, right? Yes, this is Ksitigarbha. Yes, this is the one holding a child, right ? Yes, this is it. Because Ksitigarbha holds a scepter, you see? He is the monk who takes care of children , the womb of the land. These are the owners’ things, right? They are also famous people. Hmm, and people like to be buried here. The reason is that this is the grave of Master Kukai , who I told you about earlier. He was buried here. And then, people also wanted to be buried nearby in order to receive his blessings. So, people liked to be buried nearby. It started. Yeah, oh, here it is. This is from Nissan. The staff gave it to the Nissan staff. Are you tired? Not tired. It’s cold. Very cold. Single digits. And I didn’t prepare for single digits. Prepared for Osaka, 17-18 degrees. The section we just walked through is called the new section. New grave. Now, we’re going to walk deeper into the original grave. And at the end, this is Master Kukai’s grave. Let ‘s go in and look inside. It ‘s over 500 meters. These pine trees we saw are all 200-600 years old. They said there are over 1,000 trees in this area. These must be very old trees . Very big. Three trees . All one tree. Divided into three branches. It’s warm up there . They’ve started turning on the lights. It’s getting dark now. It’s about 4-5 p.m. The atmosphere is really nice. The pine trees are really big. 1,500 of them, they said. It means that the pine trees over there, the ones where they threw something down there, should have been trimmed to make it look nice or replanted. Where do you mean? Just now, when you said that the monk threw the pine tree down at the same spot and planted it, that’s where the thing floated. Oh , Vajra. I think that tree over there is smaller. I don’t know. The legend says that. Wow, the atmosphere is really good. The grave behind me here is the grave of a daimyo. A samurai in the past. Matsudaira Hideyasu . It’s really old. There are graves of the old, the present, and others all over the place. This is his grave. And another one is his mother’s grave. It’s next to it. Every tree has a number on it. Are you taking this route? Don’t you go over there? No, go this way. Here, we ‘ve come this far. That is, Mom , come here . We’ve come this far. This is the part that will be the tomb of Master Kukai. Master Kai, after he passed away, was appointed and changed his name. He was named Kobo Daishi, which means the great master who spread the Dharma. His body was buried in the cemetery. That is, cross the bridge. That is, it will be in that part . And they don’t let us take videos. And they have a tradition that before crossing, we pay respect first. Once , then cross. After watching something, come back. Pay respect again. And then walk back across. Now , let me tell you a little bit. They also believe that even though he has passed away, it’s true that he has passed away. But they believe that his spirit still lives on. Still meditating . In a very deep state of meditation. Right here. For what? To wait for the day that Phra Sri Ariya Maitreya, the next Buddha, will still meditate. Practice asceticism. Practice hardship here. Waiting to receive? Yes , waiting. Okay, go . Then I’ll cross over there. And then I ‘ll tell you what I found there. And then I’ll come back. Go . Please pay respect. They said that before crossing, you have to pay respect. They know, right? The child understands. Okay, goodbye. Oh, before crossing? Don’t we have to cross the La-la bridge? Oh really? No , shouldn’t we say goodbye here ? I don’t know . Whatever. Goodbye then. Don’t we have to cross the bridge and say goodbye? We’ll cross the bridge and say goodbye again then. I’m going home now. I’m going back to Osaka. What did you see? A monk? Monks. When we crossed the bridge, there was a walkway that went around the big building to the back. At first, we thought that the Venerable Master’s body was inside that big building. But it wasn’t. Venerable Master Kukai’s body was in a small building that was in the big building behind the big building. Yes , it was a small wooden building a bit further away. And over there, there was a monk. A monk. He explained that Venerable Master Kukai’s soul was in that building. Then I asked, “Oh, then is the physical body in there too?” He said he didn’t know. No one knows if it’s in there or not. Because it hasn’t been opened for thousands of years. Oh really? Thousands of years? But no one knows if there’s a body, what’s inside, or nothing. No one knows because no one has opened it. But every morning, someone brings food to him. Every day, because he still doesn’t know. Because he doesn’t know if there’s anyone there or not , so he puts food there . Is the food gone? I didn’t ask, but I don’t think it’s gone. I asked him what he brought to eat. It was rice porridge, tofu, vegetables, and stuff like that. Yes, he ‘s a vegetarian. He doesn’t eat meat. It’s believed that Venerable Kukai is still meditating and meditating there. He hasn’t gone anywhere. But this time, he didn’t actually open it. No one actually opened it. But he said that there was an incident where another Venerable Kukai went to open the door as well. And what he saw was smoke. So he didn’t go in yet. And so he prayed, asking Venerable Kukai to reveal himself to him. He saw Venerable Kukai meditating inside. But the disciples who came with him didn’t see him. He couldn’t see him. This is a story. And then that monk said, the place where we were standing there, It’s called the most sacred place in Japan. We talked for a long time. The monk asked us where we were from. I told him that we were from Thailand. He said, “Oh, from Thailand?” He said that when he was a child, he went to practice in the Theravada style in Burma. He still practices in the Theravada style, which is to practice Vipassana and Anapanasati , plus the Shingon sect. When the Shingon sect meditates , they use, as I said before, a mandala. Hello from Osaka, Japan. Today we’re going to a place that’s located in the northern part of Osaka. Normally, when we come to Osaka, we find chaos in the city, right? But today I’m going to take you to this place. Minoh City, Naha, is located in the north of Osaka. It’s a small city. And what’s interesting about this city is that it has a waterfall. It’s called the highlight of this city. And it’s special . How is it special? I’ll tell you when you get to the waterfall. Here, the entrance and exit are the same way. It looks like a bird . What kind of swallow made a nest here? There are three nests. What kind of bird is that? 4, 5, 6. They made a nest on the light bulb . Let’s go. Let’s walk to the waterfall. I didn’t bring trekking poles. Did Dad bring one? I didn’t bring one . But he said that this trail is an easy trail. It should take about 45 minutes . I did n’t really believe it. Let’s do it in an hour. Okay , okay . Oh, and then, you can see that there are a lot of maple leaves for sale. Snacks, ice cream, and stuff like that. Fried maple leaves and stuff like that. Because maple leaves are a native tree . What’s the name of the tree? The famous tree of the city. Of Minoh City, there’s a mascot in the form of a cat and maple leaves. Stuck on my head? There’s a car coming. Do you want to go with me ? I’ll pretend to run into his car. Japanese maple tree. Oh, why is it beautiful? Yes , why is the tree short ? Yes, Nihon momiji (Japanese maple tree). But in Japan, they call maple momiji. If you come in November, it will change colors. Beautiful/Beautiful . Yes, it should be very beautiful. I’ll come again. Come up. There are a lot up. Okay, let’s go. Let’s go and see up here. A lot of momiji is planted here in this city. It ‘s easy to get to. When we leave the station we change to, it’s the starting point and the destination . Yes, get off at a station called Minoh. If you come from Namba, it doesn’t take long. Less than an hour. It’s easy to get to. And once you get here, it’s quiet. It’s completely different from Osaka. For friends who come to visit Osaka and want to take a break from the hustle and bustle, you can stop by here. Look , they’re frying it here, mom . Look, tempura. I mean momiji tempura. 580 yen (133 baht). There’s no tasting. There’s no tasting. Should have a taste first to see if it’s good or not , right? These are full of maple leaves. Yes, these are all jagged leaves. At first, I thought it was marijuana. / Oh, that ‘s not the Osaka Expo . It’s a manhole cover. Japan is really amazing. It ‘s very detailed. It’s stuck to my feet. During the leaf changing season, it’s very beautiful because it’s maple trees that turn red. Oh, it’s all maples. Yes, are these maple leaves? This path is easy to walk on. It’s an easy trail to walk on. It runs along the river. The atmosphere is nice and cool. Yes , the floor is paved , paved, and cemented . You can cut across this path. Oh, right. You can cut across this path. These are Ksitigarbha. Which? / Oh, is that so? Yes, they like to put them along the paths for travelers to pass by and ask for blessings . They can ask for blessings to protect travelers. Yes , and they will bring a red cloth to cover it. You’ll be warm. This is the Minoh Insect Museum. Insects? Yes, they’re beetles and butterflies. Ryuanji Temple Yes, go in and have a look. If you want to go to the waterfall, keep going that way. But let’s stop by the temple here first. It’s really tiring. Yes , really. What you see behind me is a statue of Benzaiten, one of the Seven Gods of Fortune in Japan. If you notice carefully, he’s holding something like a guitar. A ghost. It’s a ghost. He ‘s the god of music , happiness , and water. It is said that he originated from a Hindu god. You may be familiar with him under the name of Saraswati, Benzaiten. The word “ten” in Japanese means god. It is said that the word “ten” may have originated from the Sanskrit word for god, “god”, “ten” , or in Chinese, ” thian” or something like that. If you add the word to your name, it becomes god. Like Bizen. Oh, Benzai-ten, this is the Benzai god. How is it? Is it steep? / Steep, steep, a little steep. It ‘s more than 2 kilometers up the mountain . It’s up the mountain, but walking on the flat ground isn’t so bad. Walking up the mountain, it’s steep and tiring. This is a flat road , it should go around that way . If it’s the wrong way, I won’t go. Should I go and have a look? Oh, who’s going? If it’s the wrong way, I’ll wait here. When it’s time, come pick me up. What’s that? A shortcut? Dad said it’s a shortcut. He likes to find shortcuts and then go somewhere. If it’s the wrong way, I’ll be standing and waiting here. And the two of us, father and son, go. I can’t. If it takes a sideways exit Because it’s the same route to exit . Look at the map. Watch out for your hat. Put it around your neck. Here, don’t feed the monkeys. There are a lot of monkeys around here. Did they walk around this way? Right? Did they walk around here? Oh, so it really is a shortcut. No, but it’s tiring . It’s steep like this. But a while ago, they were going slowly. Oh , do you want to go to the bathroom first? Whatever. In that case, you can go first. Let’s go pee at the head of the river. Let it be known. Or you’ll get attacked for sure. Take down the entire video. Hey , post it. Don’t cut it. Hey, cut it out. Don’t cut it. / Just kidding. On the way to the waterfall, besides the maple leaves that we’ll see a lot of, there are also these. These are camellias. Japanese camellias. These red camellias. They bloom during the spring. It’s around here. / Beautiful, beautiful. Just now I saw them falling. Yes, they’ll be like this. They have yellow stamens. They’re all over them. Is this Shiba Inu unique to Japan? It’s a native of Japan. Shiba Inu. We ‘re almost there. Another 200 meters. Drag me along . We’re there . We’re there . We’re there. The waterfall . We’re here. Minoh Falls? Minoh Falls Falls . Minoh Falls. This waterfall is about 33 meters high. There’s a story I want to tell. Let me tell you a little bit. 1,400 years ago , there was a hermit named En -No-Gyouja. He came. It’s called sitting in meditation under the waterfall here , practicing something like that. I have to tell you first that he was a person who lived in Nara Prefecture. Then one day, he took the Vajra again? Yes , the Vajra again. He threw it in the direction of … Oh, wait a minute. Before throwing it, he saw the sky , looked at the clouds, saw the clouds were rainbow-colored. So he took the Vajra and threw it in the direction of the northwest of Nara City, which is the location of Minoh. After that, after throwing it, he traveled . He went to that place and found this place, Minoh . He found the Vajra that he threw. It fell on a tree somewhere. So he went to pick it up. So he used this place as a place for practicing and training himself. He was the first person. He was the founder of the Shugendo sect. Shugendo is a sect that combines Buddhism and traditional Japanese beliefs in worshipping mountains . Giving importance to mountains because it is believed that there are gods on mountains. And then add Shinto, these three together, it becomes Shugendo sect . And Shugendo is, this is it. If you compare it to what we see in our country, there will be forest monks. This is the ascetic line going into the forest. It’s similar, except that they go up the mountain and practice self-cultivation for liberation. And once they are liberated, they have supernatural powers along the way. They go to help people. And then he came to meditate under this waterfall. So he got wet . So he got wet. There’s a story that when he was 66 years old, he was expelled from the city. He went to live on an island. He went to live on an island outside of the city. Because he said that he was accused of being like a person with magic or something like that. Like deceiving people. So people kicked him out. He went to live on an island . Like a remote island. But after that, 2 years later, he returned to Nara City like before. After being acquitted of the charges and proven innocent, he returned to Nara City. But he didn’t stay in Nara. He returned to Minoh here like before. And then he practiced meditation until he was old and stayed here until the end of his life. Yes , it’s called a person who has supernatural powers , able to use magic , use this power to make people unable to move. Yes, like having tree roots wrapped around the body and unable to move. And he can fly and walk through the air, something like that. It’s like our common hermits. Something like that. And this is the story of Minoh Waterfall . If friends visit here, don’t forget to try meditating if the weather isn’t too cold. But no one goes swimming. It’s very cold . It might be cold. No, but they don’t allow swimming . There are no fish. It’s not like waterfalls at our home. Oh, there are no fish . What kind of fish are in our waterfalls? Squid fish? Oh, squid fish . Let’s take out the rice balls and eat them. Let ‘s buy some rice balls to eat. What face is this? This is this bonito flakes. And my dad’s. Seaweed. My dad gave me seaweed. And this is mentaiko. Mentaiko roe. Put the trash in here. What next? And then pull it left and right , I can’t remember anything. Is there only seaweed inside? Oops , it all broke. I’m going to eat it! Eat it. There’s even a bump . How is it? It’s delicious. I haven’t found the filling. Just the rice and seaweed is delicious. Hungry . How is it? Is it okay? Okay, good . Let’s go . Then let’s go back to the city. Let ‘s go. Bye- bye. Falls . Because in the cultivation sect , Shugendo, Shu is short for asceticism. Gen means experience. Do means the path. It is the path of experience in cultivating oneself. They believe that everything in nature, whether it ‘s rocks, trees , or even the waterfall we just went to, is inhabited by gods or spirits . And especially on this mountain , Mt. Minoh, which is the place where En Gyoja used to stay. And after that, there is Many of his disciples came to cultivate on this mountain. This made this mountain a sacred mountain. And Minoh Waterfall became the most sacred waterfall in Osaka. If you come to this waterfall, receive the sacred power. You can relax from the capital. And come to see the nature. Do you remember? Have you been here? We were in Osaka. We were here once. It was big. Now we’re at the Hard-Off store. It’s a second-hand store. There are branches all over Japan. This branch is probably the largest in the Osaka area. It ‘s called the Sakai branch. Hard-Off Sakai. Let’s go in and take a look. I think so. What clothes did we come here to choose? What size can I wear ? Why don’t you try them on first? How about it ? Can Mom wear all of them ? / Yeah, the whole row. Hey, amazing . These are for kids, but they’re really light. New Balance 2,200 (506 baht) New , it’s brand new. Oh, it’s not second-hand, right? It’s second-hand. But it’s like the process of using them is like , Hey, look at this. It looks really new. The soles are still good. 3,300 (740 baht) How about it? 1,650 yen (379 baht) Oh , the condition looks good. Can I wear them? Can I wear them? No, they’re too small. My dad also said they’re small. Wow, this pair is really similar to mine. This New Balance pair is just like mine. Do they look alike? Very similar. 1,100 (253 baht) Less than 300, a little over 200 baht. A little over 200 baht. Is that considered cheap? Well , it should be cheap. Like sometimes at stores that sell bags, if it’s a famous brand, sometimes they start at second-hand bags. Go start at 300 – 500 baht in Thailand. Then the bit is pretty good. The price is a bit high. Otherwise, I would buy it . Expensive. Where did dad get it? 4,400 (1,012 baht) 4,400 yen (1,012 baht) Berg Mizuno Is this Mizuno? How many liters is Mizuno ? Doesn’t look like a lot. Looks heavy. No, no, I like it . Heavy . Wo n’t say how many liters. Heavy. Try holding it. It’s heavy. Here are full of men’s shoes. Just now, I thought they were women’s shoes. There are also lots of sleeping bags. Oh, here’s dad . Daddy. Here are the shoes for men from this coast and that coast. Do you want them? Heavy. How about the shirt? I didn’t look at the shirt. It’s quite expensive, huh? 4,400 yen (1,012 baht) . It means that this brand must be American. Very light. But light . It should be a raincoat. Very light. It has a hood. This kind of camera . There are guitars too. This store is big . 55,000 yen (12,650 baht) Shoes Mom’s shoes 1,650 (379 baht) , but this pair looks good too. I’ll have mom wear them back. Throw away that pair. No, I won’t wash them. No, I won’t. You can wear them even if you don’t wash them. Wear them back first. I’ll take dad to look at the shoes and golf clubs. They’re all bundled up into a set. Wow, 5,500 yen (1,265 baht), right? They must be fiber shafts. What kind of these are these? This is the Tour Stage fiber shaft. This is the fiber shaft. The wood head. This wood head is around 10,000 (2,300 baht). 10,000 yen (2,300 baht). There are cheap ones too, 2,750 (632 baht). Isn’t it the same as in Thailand? It looks better. Do you wear these to work? Do you wear these to work? Do you wear them to work? No, do you wear these to dad? 2,000 (460 baht), 4,000 yen (920 baht) , 5,000 yen (1,150 baht), 3,300 yen (759 baht). But judging from the condition, it’s considered okay. It’s not that much worn out. The contact surface is still good. 2,200 (506 baht) 2,200 yen (506 baht) looks good. This condition looks new. Golf shoes? Not sure. / Trekking shoes, right? Can I wear them? Are they too small? 6.5 is too small. Do you remember I bought something else here? At that time, I was backpacking . I didn’t buy weight. I bought kilos. Kilos at home, I chose from over there. The prices are around here. 3,000 to (673 baht) 5,000 (1,150 baht) . More popular games are 5,000 (1,150 baht). Final Fantasy , oh here are the cards. Card games are 200 (44 baht), 300 (67 baht) to 1,000 (224 baht). Old music DVDs are 1,900 yen (437 baht), 2,000 yen (460 baht). They have everything. Comic books, comic books. These are 100 yen (23 baht) 100 (23 baht) 110 yen (25.3 baht) per volume. It’s really cheap. I’ve also heard that. In Japan, when manga books are second-hand, the price will be significantly reduced. From one volume I bought, let’s see. If it’s new, because these are novels , new ones are 650 yen (149.5 baht), but after the discount, they’re only 110 yen (25.3 baht). It’s really cheap. Everything is 110 yen. This manga book is 790 yen, new (177 baht), only 110 yen (24.7 yen). It’s thick too. It ‘s worth reading. I’ll take these too. Take them off. I’ll let you walk on the treadmill. I’ll take your socks with me. This pair is New Balance , but they’re very comfortable . I don’t want to throw them away. Dad told me to throw this pair away. I don’t want to throw it away. Throw it away. No , but it’s all broken. This is the pair you’re wearing, right? They ’re all broken. It ’s been a long time since I went to China. My shoes broke. I’ve thrown away another pair. They were also New Balance. Do you remember? And I had to change to sandals. The ones that are tied with rubber bands. What the heck, mom? That group of Thais over there just bought a lot of stuff. I didn’t think I’d meet Thais here. Are these second- hand ? No, these are new . There’s new Uniqlo shirts. New Uniqlo T-shirts. But they’re in size L. 330 yen (75 baht). 70 baht. The price you see here is the actual price of the goods. But after tax, it ’s 330 yen (75 baht). You have to look at the top. They’re new, not old. Look at the top. Some of the items are new. And there are a lot of towels, fabrics. New, not old. The colors are pretty. They look good to wear. It’s L. My daughter can’t wear it. She wears M. If it’s M, what should I buy ? Mouthwash at 550 yen (126.5 baht) is that cheap?
