Tandoori Chicken | Rice Burger | Healthy One-Plate Breakfast | Indian Curry | Sento

    Good morning, Mr. Pigeon.
Looks like your love life just turned into a triangle (*´︶`*) The early-blooming hydrangeas were in full, beautiful bloom. Running a quick shopping errand. I came to a coffee shop to pick up some treats. Matcha Kinako Twists –
    298 yen Dried Mango –
313 yen A staple snack at our place (o^^o). I couldn’t take my eyes off the adorable Totoro corner. Taking a little break with some bubble tea. ok at that adorable Frenchie on the cup (´ω`). Wanted tapioca so bad…
but apparently I chose a drink without it (ToT). Done grocery shopping, now heading back home. Bye-bye〜^ ^ Day 2 Today’s bento is juicy tandoori chicken & turmeric rice. I used chicken thigh, but any cut tastes great. I roughly cut it into four big pieces. First, rub 2/3 teaspoon of salt into the chicken. 3 tbsp tomato ketchup. 1 tbsp curry powder. 4 tbsp plain yogurt. Rub it in well. 2 tbsp olive oil Add the oil at the end and mix everything together. Oh no, I almost forgot the grated garlic and ginger! ( ̄▽ ̄;). 1 clove garlic, grated.
1 piece ginger, grated. Maybe too much…(´Д` ). Leave it at room temperature for about 15 minutes. mixed chia seeds. Add twice the amount of water to the chia seeds and heat them. Cook until the water is nearly absorbed. Place a lid on and let it sit for around 10 minutes to steam. Starting the morning with warm water again. It’s still very hot, so I’ll let it cool for a while. Purple cabbage with a noticeable bitterness. I’m using a knife to minimize the bitterness. After that, I leave it in water to soak. Pop the potatoes in the microwave until soft. Add a pinch of salt to the quinoa and give it a good mix. I’ll mix it with the purple cabbage late. Alright, chicken—your time has come. Drizzle in a bit of olive oil and lay the chicken in, skin-side down. I’ll try cooking half of them in the air fryer. I’ll keep a close eye on it to make sure it doesn’t burn. Toss the purple cabbage with some shio-koji. Peel the potatoes while they’re nice and hot. Hot, hot!! The potatoes are so hot, my fingers are crying!(´;ω;`). lightly mash, Season lightly with a little vinegar, salt, and pepper. Flip it over once it’s nicely browned. Our beloved house cheese: Sakechi-sama. I think I cranked up the heat a little too much. Since the recipe says 185°C,
I’ll follow it through to the end and see what happens. Not many air fryer recipes yet…
Welp, guess I better just keep trying and learning as I go! Team Frying Pan is looking deliciously golden! Air fryer team… let’s just call it “extra toasty flavor”!^_^ Bacon for the potato salad. I went with cubes this time. I sliced some for breakfast too. Bacon tastes amazing when cooked in a cast iron pan. I thought I only felt that way because of anime, but… I thought I only felt that way because of anime,
but it turns out there’s actually a solid scientific reason behind it. There are a few reasons,
but maybe the biggest one is how well it holds heat. Potatoes, bacon, and cheese—such a perfect combo. Squeezed a bit too much… these tubes are tricky! (*_*). Drain the liquid from the purple cabbage and squeeze it out. Squeeze in some lemon juice, Olive oil, A little quinoa for texture and nutrition. Just a bit of salt to finish it off. Using cooked rice, I’m making an easy turmeric rice. 3 bowls of cooked rice (450g), 10g melted salted butter
Just under 1 tsp turmeric, 1/3 tsp salt. I mixed everything all at once, First, melt the butter,
then mix it with the turmeric—it seems to blend more evenly that way. Not sure why, but I suddenly felt like putting down a tablecloth (°▽°). My son, who’s in his last year of high school,
has more and more days when he doesn’t need a bento. But he had club activities, so he asked me to make some rice balls. Making those crispy, konbini-style rice balls I tried before. Prepare a slightly longer sheet of plastic wrap.
Fold back the wrap, about the height of the rice ball Fold the sides neatly and roll it up to finish. This way, the rice stays crispy even after some time. A boiled egg sits on a nest of broccoli sprouts. I added a bit too much rice, so I’m taking some out. A simple potato salad with a rich, toasty flavor. Mild and flavorful: quinoa with purple cabbage. They looked so good on skewers… too bad I forgot. Post-skewer it is! The air fryer team got a bit burnt,
but surprisingly, they turned out even tastier! Those crispy bits here and there… they give it that real feel. Next time, I’ll try baking it at 180°C to avoid burning it. Tandoori Chicken Bento
all done! Day 3 An unexpectedly early start to the day. I lay around for a bit before getting out of bed. Grating things right after waking up… maybe a bit risky (*_*). Grinding sesame is safe (´ω`). Let’s make some yakiniku sauce. 1 tbsp sugar. 1 tbsp mirin. 1 tbsp sake. 2 tbsp soy sauce. 1/2 tbsp sesame oil. A small amount of honey. Simple and delicious—your Yakiniku sauce is ready. Frill lettuce—it’s got those fun, curly edges. Starting the morning with a cup of warm water for my health Making rice burger buns. Add 1 tbsp of potato starch per cup of rice and mix well. I got this egg ring at Seria (100-yen shop). Since it’s 93mm across, you can make rice buns a bit bigger than usual. Heating up the sesame oil and cooking it through. They tend to stick together while cooking,
so make sure to give them a little space Brushing on soy sauce with a touch of mirin—dab dab! Sauce drips = future burns, so I clean it up quick! Flip and continue cooking until beautifully golden and fragrant. A stunningly beautiful capybara color Making dashimaki tamago—
Japanese rolled omelet flavored with dashi. I’m taking a shortcut with shirodashi for the dashi flavor. ・3 eggs
+ sugar, shirodashi, and water. Rice bran oil Dashimaki tamago tastes a little different in every home. Some are sweet, some are savory—each one filled with a family’s story. At our house, we like it just a little sweet with a touch of sugar. Now for the other filling—let’s cook the yakiniku Making a backup dashimaki tamago—just to be safe. Boiling and grilling? Manageable. But double grilling? Not so easy! Still, you’ve gotta challenge yourself to grow—so I’m trying! Busy, busy! (๑¯ω¯๑; ). There was a time I had a 3-burner stove,
but one burner was just there for decoration ( ¯▽¯ ). Good job, me!(´罒`). Let’s bring the yakiniku to perfection. Tender and juicy—our yakiniku is ready. Mentaiko Open the sac gently and extract only the eggs. Takuan—the best friend of grilled meat. Thin, and thin-but-not-too-thin slices. By mixing in potato starch,
the rice buns are firm and hold their shape beautifully. Ultimate Yakiniku Rice Burger (^O^)/ The other bun gets a generous helping of fluffy rolled omelet. Spicy cod roe, creamy mayo, and a touch of fresh sprouts Spicy and savory—
mentai tamagoyaki rice burger. Slide it into a burger wrap—and no mess, no stress.
Easy to enjoy every bite! The rice burger bento is ready. At the store, rice burgers often come with a hefty price tag (TT). Once you’ve got the buns,
all that’s left is stuffing them with whatever you like—totally worth a try! I managed to fit in some grapes and lemon jelly, too. Wrapped it with a “Tako-san Wiener” furoshiki from Kamawanu-san. I’ll use the leftovers for dinner.
That way, tonight’s prep is a little lighter. Each rice bun is wrapped and stored in the freezer. Day 4 After the kids left early for their weekend matches,
I sat down for a quiet breakfast alone. Craving something healthy, I went with a simple, nutritious one-plate breakfast. Honestly, breakfast usually means picking at bento scraps. But I’d like to become someone who eats a proper breakfast. So I’ll take it slow and listen to my stomach along the way. I’m always telling my kids to eat a proper breakfast. Meanwhile, I’m the one skipping mine—not exactly convincing!( ¯▽¯ ). I love natto (´ω`)♡. Natto is packed with nutrients and good-for-you bacteria. It’s healthy and tasty—a total win-win. It pairs perfectly with salmon, too!(^∇^). Feeling a bit like Totoro today. Ohh nooo…(´Д`;) …( ¯꒳¯ ) Healthy One-Plate Meal Served with Totoro tea. Think I can go for one more. lol Not dressing… but somehow soy sauce (´ω`). and wasabi. Maybe it’s time to start dieting… I start to panic a little as summer gets closer. It’s always the same cycle: I store up in winter, panic in summer,
and never quite end up with a body I’m satisfied with. Marotan is crying, “Let me out!” I’ll eat the rest after Marotan’s free time is over. Freedom for Marotan! Marotan’s doing laps to avoid Totoro ( ¯▽¯ ). (o´罒`o) Day 5 After work, I’m meeting up with my son. Sounds like my son has hit peak exhaustion. We were planning to eat first,
but decided to relax at the public bath instead. A sento is a traditional Japanese public bath.
People go there to soak, relax, and unwind Soak time—see you later! Relaxing in the bath Post-sento bliss—nothing beats this. Milk was sold out, so I grabbed a coffee one(´ω`). I live for moments like this (´罒`)haha. Now, time to head out for some food. I should’ve worn cleaner shoes (´Д` ). 9:00 p.m. I came to eat some authentic Indian curry! The lassi wasn’t even on the menu,
but it came with the set—what a nice surprise! Here it comes! He got the chicken curry and cheese naan set. This cheese naan is next-level good (´ω`). Ouch, that’s hot! I could never make cheese naan this tasty (°▽°). Some dishes are truly worth enjoying out,
especially when they’re difficult to recreate at home (*´︶`*). The curry helped him regain his energy ( ^ω^ ). Please take care and stay healthy, everyone (´ω`). Grateful for your time—thanks for watching (*´︶`*)♡ [ I would be happy if you subscribe to my channel ]
    See you soon…

    1. So great! For tandoori chicken, the best parts are the charred bits since they normally make it in a clay oven. There's a way to make quick naan at home with just yogurt, baking powder and flour that you should try! 😊

    2. with the quinoa, if you find that it tastes bitter or "soapy", it's better to wash the quinoa well before cooking because there are saponins on the exterior of the quinoa

    3. Your pet bird got so big! I would like to try the rice burger; that looked delicious. I have been watching your vlogs, & it's been fun to watch from the very first one. I hope you're doing well. I am done with my 1st semester of uni. Have a good day!

    4. Thank you for your video! Do you happen to have an instagram where you post bentos or anything of the sort? I would love to see them.

    5. Woke up at 2 AM to study for an exam, and seeing this new video gave me the motivation I needed to keep going. (૭ 。•̀ ᵕ •́。 )૭ Thank you so much for the update—it truly pushed me to do better.

    6. Just want to say your videos create a really relaxing atmosphere that is super enjoyable! Thanks for sharing your cooking with us, it's always such a joy to watch 🙂

    7. It might not be healthy for you, but I like when the sauce on chicken gets a little burnt. It's nice and savory.
