I’m heading to Kagawa Prefecture for a two-day, one-night trip! These two days will include touring udon restaurants and staying at a lovely cottage. I plan to enjoy not only udon, but also various other gourmet foods at the place I’m staying at. I’ll start with the first udon restaurant! I left home to arrive by 8:30 so that the restaurant would open at 9:00. I arrived at my idyllic destination. There was a waterway running next to the house. It was a comfortable atmosphere that I’m not usually familiar with! It’s a historic noodle factory founded in 1963. For my first meal, I’d like to enjoy some traditional Kagawa udon! I aimed to arrive early because there are only three parking spaces. One car was given to us on a first-come-first-served basis, and the parking lot was full before the opening at 9:00! There is no sign or curtain, and the gate is designed so that only those who know about it can reach it, and the atmosphere makes me feel excited. Since the main focus is the noodle factory, the dining space is not large. There are seats outside where you can see the rice fields, and seats inside as well. Open! At this time, about 10 customers were waiting. More than half of the shop is the noodle factory space. The menu is simple: cold or hot udon, small or large. The dining space inside the shop. It’s raining and chilly today, so we’ll eat inside. When you receive the udon, you can add toppings! There are green onions, chili peppers, soy sauce, and eggs. First meal!!! The beginning of the journey!!! I ordered a super simple udon, a small hot udon. It looks delicious!!!
My husband ordered a small cold udon, and the shiny noodles are irresistible. You can tell it’s delicious when you see it. I topped the cold udon with an egg. I ate a little of the part without the egg on it. …It’s the best udon to start your udon tour of Kagawa. The texture, chewy texture, firmness, and wheat flavor are my indicators of udon. Both hot and cold are delicious. It was the udon I want to repeat. The best! Next, we went here. It took about 15 minutes by car to arrive. The delicious aroma of the soup stock is floating around. It’s so good that you want to close your eyes and soak in the soup. We ordered udon and then chose our own inari sushi and tempura. There are three types of udon: yudame udon, soy sauce udon, and kake udon. We chose kake udon. It was hot and cold!! The noodles were just the right thickness, with beautiful edges!! They were hand-made, so the shape of the noodles was uneven, which was also nice. The difference in texture was fun. We also had inari sushi and shrimp tempura (shrimp paste). Apparently the shop in Kotohira-cho where we used to get our tempura from has closed down. My husband ordered it cold. We topped it with kitsune and chikuwa tempura. Of course the noodles were delicious, but we loved the soup stock too. This is a restaurant we definitely want to come back to. Thank you for the meal!! We arrived at the third udon restaurant, about 20 minutes by car from Yamauchi Udon. While my husband was taking care of some urgent business at work, it was already around 11 o’clock! We waited in line for about 15 minutes. I think the turnover is fast. I’m about 60% full now. What should I order…? There are various menus. This adds to the fun of choosing, isn’t it? They sell fairly spicy coarsely ground chili peppers and noodles. Mishima Noodle Factory also sells chili peppers! From the time you enter the store to when you order, you can see how the noodles are made by hand. Amazing! Both children and adults can enjoy the tour with excitement! Once you’ve seen the noodles being cut, it’s time to order. After ordering the udon, you can choose your own tempura and rice dishes. There’s so much! What should I do? It’s frustrating that my stomach has a limit. It’s a line I always say in my travel vlogs. If it was just this one store, I’d like to enjoy the tempura and rice balls. But that’s not possible! Just then, the Sanuki no Mezame asparagus from Kagawa Prefecture was freshly fried, so I ordered that first! I ordered a small bowl of cold grated radish bukkake (light), and you can choose between light and strong broth. The tempura is asparagus and chikuwa tempura. I’m so happy! This is a small bowl of cold grated radish bukkake (light), and strong. The tempura is shiitake mushrooms and tentacles. It’s chewy and filling. Word of mouth is important, but I think it’s best to find your own preferences and taste the udon according to your own criteria. The asparagus was very juicy! As expected, tempura is best when it’s freshly fried! Thank you for the third stop! It’s about a 40-minute drive from Hayuka, and we’ve arrived at the fourth udon restaurant of the day. I was excited to see what it tastes like, as it’s the new Sanuki udon! We waited in line for about 30 minutes. Takeaway noodles are sold along the line. There are various menus. This style of noodles is rolled and served, and it is called “Yamaoka Screw”. At regular udon shops, a small bowl is 220g and a large bowl is 440g, but here the small bowl is 380g and the large bowl is 760g. Be careful of the portions!! Orders are written on this form. If you want Yamaoka Screw, please write that in the margin. Choose your own tempura. It’s fun to watch the kitchen as they measure the udon and make the screw, and proceed to the checkout!! There are tatami and counter seats. I ordered a small cold Zaru Udon. I also had chicken tempura and lotus root tempura!! Wow. Rolled udon. It’s thick, with starch clinging to each udon. This is a small cold Kintama Zaru Udon. I also had a thick egg yolk and squid tempura. Is this really the new Sanuki udon? The noodles are chewy and squishy. I think there will be mixed opinions. I’m full! Thank you for the meal! Anyway! I’m going to try out some local gourmet food! First off, this shop. It’s a long-established confectionery shop in Mitoyo City. They have a wide range of sweets, from Japanese to Western. I’ll buy some for a snack! A pleasant sweet aroma wafts through the air… I love handmade sweets. I’m attracted to sweets from privately-owned shops that have a strong flavor of the ingredients. I’m looking for karinto buns. I also want to try warabimochi, which is made with real warabi powder!! There it is! Hon warabimochi. I love this. The translucent brown sugar color and chewy texture are irresistible. There are several types of fresh sweets. I’d like to enjoy them slowly with some matcha, but I’ll hold off this time. Looks delicious… There are a variety of Western sweets too!! So many types of sweets, All in one store! Amazing!! It looks delicious and cheap!!! I forgot to take a video, but the cream puffs, which are made after you order, were excellent. Really cheap. If it was near my house, I would go there all the time for various purposes, from everyday use to gifts. One of the joys of traveling is visiting shops loved by the locals. It’s a shop I’d like to visit again if I’m in the area! I’m very satisfied. Next, I went to this shop. It is a long-established shrimp cracker store founded in 1877. It is made with fresh shrimp caught in the Hiuchi Nada Sea in the Seto Inland Sea, hand-baked one by one, additive-free, and a unique Kannonji City specialty. There are four types, and they all look delicious… I’ll buy these as a souvenir! I decided on the two on the right! There are also a variety of gift sets. These are simple rice crackers that you can simply taste the deliciousness of shrimp. Founded around 1877, it has been around for about 130 years. It is said that the 6th generation is currently hand-baking the cucumbers using the same recipe. I’m so happy! I got the best souvenir! I’m not hungry at all, but I’ll buy some food for dinner and to wake up tomorrow! I’ll go around the local supermarkets!! Aren’t cucumbers cheap? I won’t do it today, but if you rent a cottage, I think this store will be useful for BBQs!
The fresh fish section. Wow!! It has a market-like atmosphere!! Just looking at it is fun! It makes me want to have a BBQ near the sea, river, or waterside. Of the supermarkets I went to today, this one had the most variety. If you’re going to go shopping at one store, this is the one to go for! Kamamori 380 yen!! I want to buy some to take home!! There’s a wide variety of meats!! There are many parts of chicken!! This is the first time I’ve seen tamahimo being sold at a supermarket. The meats are also attractive, and I want to come here to buy for a BBQ next time! (lol) Here are the items I bought. Sorry it’s so ordinary. (lol) Negitaku roll for my husband and my favorite drink. There are so many ingredients! This shop has a lot of original side dishes. I don’t feel like cooking today, so if there are any delicious side dishes, I’d like to get them! A huge amount of broad beans! I want to grill them and eat them. The amount is huge, it’s amazing. I love roadside stations when I travel, but local supermarkets are also good. You can experience a different local atmosphere than usual. I wanted to eat a salad, so I was attracted to the baby leaves from Kagawa Prefecture. There are also various fresh fish. I found some delicious looking sweet sake! The ingredients are simple. If I had come across it tomorrow, I would have bought it. Boiled bamboo shoots! It’s in season, so I’ll have it with the baby leaves from earlier! Yay! Original side dishes! There are certainly a lot of varieties, and the handmade atmosphere is attractive! It’s fun to see the different characteristics of each supermarket! Shiraae! It looks delicious with lots of spinach and konjac! Here are the items we purchased! Today’s lodging has a kitchen, so we will saute the bamboo shoots! It’s 3:30pm and we’re heading to our next destination. After driving for about 10 minutes, we see a beautiful coastline. The sea! No matter how old you are, seeing the sea makes you feel good. There is no sea near our house. We arrived near the famous tourist spot, Chichibugahama Beach. It is a spectacular spot that is also called the Uyuni Salt Flats of Japan! Our destination is here. The concept is “locally produced, locally shaved ice”, and it is a shaved ice shop where you can taste homemade sauce made from fresh fruits from Mitoyo! The fruits you can taste vary depending on the season, so I came here looking forward to seeing what kind of lineup they have! Wow! There are so many attractive menus! I love shaved ice. I want to eat various shaved ice this summer too! Which one are you interested in? Oh man, it’s difficult to choose. There are also dessert menus other than shaved ice. My husband is not very attracted to shaved ice, so he chose from here! The inside of the shop looks like this. You can enjoy it while looking at Chichibugahama Beach. There are a few people on the beach. It was a day when low tide and sunset overlapped, and it seems that the view is spectacular when there is no wind. I chose Nio lemon!!! It contains homemade condensed milk and strained yogurt!!! This is affogato. It has a rich taste with nuts! It’s refreshingly sweet and very delicious!!! The moderate acidity seeps into my body!! The strained yogurt arrived at the perfect time. It goes so well with it. It was delicious! I was satisfied! On the way to the inn, I wanted to eat some sawara tataki, so I stopped by this supermarket. This was my last stop! The whiteboard was kind of fun. They had tempura that was handmade using traditional methods. I wonder if it’s popular! There was a wide variety of koppepan. There was also a variety I’d never seen before. There it was! Sawara tataki from Nio town, where I am now! There was a bright red apple that looked like it came out of a picture. It was so red and shiny. I wonder if it was delicious? There was also a corner with various local specialties and organic foods. It’s fun to see all kinds of seasonings and foods! It’s also fun to go around supermarkets with a strong local flavor! This is the only thing I bought!! Now, let’s head to the long-awaited, wonderful accommodation, the cottage!! The cottage I booked is located in an olive farm. I fell in love at first sight with this wonderful accommodation, where you can enjoy the Seto Inland Sea! I walk through the olive farm to the parking lot. Just this location makes me excited!! Ah, I can see it. There are lots of olive trees around! We have arrived. Buildings A and B are adjacent to each other, and this time I will be staying in building A. Here is the exterior. A wonderful building with a terrace, large windows, and lots of sunlight. The olive fields and the Seto Inland Sea spread out in front of the terrace. It’s just the best. Unfortunately , it’s cloudy today. Still, I can hear the birds singing, and I can fully feel the sense of freedom and nature! There are just olive flower buds. I wonder if they will bloom soon. The flowering period is short, about one week. Enter the cottage! Wow!! So nice!! Kitchen, dining room, living room. It’s spacious enough for two people to relax. All cooking utensils and home appliances are provided. The room has a warm atmosphere with wood. There are four beds arranged in two tiers. It’s like a training camp and it’s interesting. It can be used for various purposes, such as group trips with friends or family trips. It’s a nice place. There is a sofa, hammock, and Yogibo. You can spend time reading or staring at the scenery. Here is the bathroom. I think it’s 1618 size? My house is 1616 size, but it felt a little spacious. It is well cleaned and the bathroom is comfortable. There is a sink and toilet at the back of the bathroom. If there are multiple people, it will be crowded in the morning. Please note that the toilet is not a private room. It is fully equipped with a washlet! Small items such as pots and coffee sets are cute. There is also a water server, so you won’t have any trouble with water. Olive oil, salt, pepper. Equipment necessary for cooking. There are several types of frying pans and bowls. There are various tableware. With this, you can cook your own meals without stress. I found pasta…!! Is this a service?! Coffee beans are also available. Grind and brew your own coffee… and enjoy a blissful tea time! There are handwritten displays…. I took a short walk around the olive farm. There was a terrace that guests can use freely. It was a comfortable place overlooking the Seto Inland Sea. It was so relaxing
that I couldn’t believe that I had been on a whirlwind udon tour just a moment ago (lol). I want to spend today relaxing. I returned to my room and had tea time with the sweets I had just bought at Mori Isseido… Crispy karinto buns and choux rusks. Delicious warabi mochi made with 100% bracken flour and kinako. Happiness…!! The stainless steel filter became a mess because my husband ground the beans too much. It was a fun time. I met the sunset through the clouds. It was so beautiful, it calmed my heart. Night is almost here. Let’s take a bath and have dinner! Today’s menu. I just sauteed bamboo shoots in a frying pan. I enjoyed the udon, so I’m satisfied with this. A delicious time. I’ll go to bed early because I’ll have udon again tomorrow morning. Good night. Good morning! Morning! The windows are so open that it’s great to wake up! I guess it’s refreshing to be exposed to sunlight in the morning! If it’s this comfortable on a cloudy day, it must be amazing on a sunny day. A realistic and unattractive breakfast. I’ll get some protein. I’m reluctant to check out, but I’ve decided to come back again. I recommend this cottage! Thank you for a wonderful time! Today I started at this Sanuki udon legend. I arrived 20 minutes before opening and took a numbered ticket in front of the store. I was 17th. At 8:50, people started lining up in order of their numbered tickets. The first parking lot in front of the store was full. The second parking lot nearby was empty. I parked here! It was 8:50, so I started lining up. There was a line, but it moved quickly! While I was waiting in line, a staff member came to take my order. There was a food and drink space across from the store. Once you receive your noodles, you can eat them here! Since it’s a grocery store, fruits were displayed outside. I’ll also share the sales inside! I received my noodles about 5 minutes after the store opened. Wow! You can see it when you see it! These noodles are delicious! There are tables with green onions, ginger, eggs, and soy sauce. Soy sauce is also available in the food and drink area, so I topped it with condiments for now! I ordered a small, cold bowl. This is inside the grocery store. The cash register is up ahead! Next is the tempura corner! Local vegetables and fruits are sold, and it’s fun just to look at them! Tempura corner! I quickly chose my favorite tempura! Croquettes are my favorite. A half-sized kakiage is 60 yen. Such a reasonable price. It’s topped with a croquette and fried chicken. My husband also ordered a small, cold one. Topped with chicken tempura, kakiage, and a soft-boiled egg!! Looks delicious!! A crispy croquette with a gentle taste. Bliss. Delicious. The ultimate Sanuki udon. It’s chewy and smooth. If you come to Kagawa Prefecture, this is the udon you should try at least once! Thank you for the meal! We arrived at the restaurant, which opens at 10:00, about 15 minutes by car. This is a restaurant where you can enjoy delicious udon, freshly fried tempura, and excellent onigiri! As soon as it opened, several people entered the restaurant. The menu looks like this. A restaurant with a warm atmosphere like a small hut. This is it! Onigiri mixed with dried sardines and soaked in broth. My favorite taste. After verbally ordering the udon, we started with this onigiri!! Delicious! At home, I make mixed rice with tempura flakes and noodle soup, and this is an upgraded version of that. The flavor of the dried sardines is irresistible!!! I ordered a bukkake, a cold, and a small bowl. I also had tentacle tempura and chikuwa tempura. They fry it after you order, so it’s hot and freshly fried. You can also enjoy the crunchy tempura flakes. The noodles are smooth and chewy. Delicious. Freshly fried is the best. This is great. The crunchy batter is very satisfying!! Thank you for the meal! Now that my stomach is full, I’m going sightseeing. The road is narrow and difficult to navigate if an oncoming car comes. Only shuttle buses are allowed on weekends, but private cars are allowed on weekdays. I don’t know when an oncoming car will come, so I proceed carefully. Oh no. I’m stuck…!! There seemed to be a broken-down car? A police officer was there and repaired the car. Thank goodness. We arrived at the parking lot safely. It was a road that beginner drivers and rental cars that are not used to driving should be careful! We walked from the parking lot. It took less than 10 minutes. It was a slope, so it was tiring, but it was good exercise! We arrived! It is a shrine famous for its torii gate in the sky. First, we prayed. The main shrine is located at the top of Inazumiyama, which is 404 meters above sea level. Wow! What a view! It is a spectacular spot where you can see Kanonji City and the Seto Inland Sea! You can see the city, mountains, islands, and the sea, and it feels relaxed and majestic. I’m glad I came! I really think that Shikoku is great. I’m pregnant and have refrained from traveling abroad, but Japan is still wonderful. We also share various memories, such as a surf trip to Kochi and a vlog of recommended villas on Awaji Island. It was fun. I want to go again! There is also a way to climb the main shrine on foot from Shimomiya. About 50 minutes one way. I wish I had had the time to try it!! On the way back to the parking lot, there was a sign for the Nio Observatory. Let’s go! After walking a little way through the trees, we arrived at the rock. This is it! ? Indeed, there is a great view. The view from the parking lot is also nice. The greenery is beautiful… We were careful on the way down. It was a good time to visit! We came to this shop, founded in 1897, to buy the famous confectionery “Kannonji” as a souvenir. There is a cafe on the right side where Japanese sweets are sold, and on the left side. They also sell Western sweets, so let’s take a look! There are many different Japanese sweets lined up. There are also several types of fresh sweets. Cute. Looks delicious!! My husband wants to eat Western sweets, so I will hold off on this one. I will buy this as a souvenir. It is a simple and delicious sweet with a fluffy dough like castella and a filling of bean paste. It comes in packs of 5, so it is a great souvenir that you can easily give to someone!! I came here to see the Western sweets for sale. I’m tempted! There are sweets that combine Japanese and Western styles, such as fresh strawberry daifuku. There is a wide variety. I love black bean rolls… I’m having a hard time deciding. This is the cafe menu. Eating in is also good. There is a dessert plate. There was a sample of the dessert plate. This is 700 yen. Great value for money!! This is nice. I bought a lot. I had lemon cake and fresh strawberry daifuku. My husband had chocolate Mont Blanc and rich chocolate crepe. I love chocolate. Gradually we started to head home. Towards the Kansai region. We stopped off at a roadside station and had cake on a bench here!! Oh no~. It was a closed day. I was really looking forward to the roadside station, so I’ll take revenge again…!! I sat on a bench outside and had a snack. From the fresh strawberry daifuku, it was full of whipped cream and strawberries, sweet and delicious! On the back of the lemon cake, there was a slice of lemon. It’s light, fluffy and delicious!! After about 20 minutes by car, we arrived at the small destination of this trip!! This is a restaurant I’ve always wanted to come to. I’ve always wanted to come here, but even though I’ve been close by, I’ve never had a chance to stop by. I ‘m sure many of you already know it. This is a restaurant run by Emiko Kawahara, who is famous for her videos on no-boil somen noodles. They have a variety of heart-warming dishes, mainly soba. I found out about Kawahara on YouTube a few years ago and have learned a lot of her recipes. The pickles on the table are complimentary. They’re handmade by Kawahara. I remember watching YouTube and making mustard pickles for the first time. They also sell a variety of items. It’s my first time here, but it feels nostalgic. There are chirashi sushi and inari lined up. Simple but delicious. There’s a silver shield!! It’s my first time seeing it!! Amazing!! First of all, I’ll start with chirashi sushi. The umami of the sushi vinegar and the subtle scent of yuzu are delicious!! I’ll have some country soba. The broth is delicious. It is topped with various ingredients, and the texture is rich and fun. This is Shitoku soba. Chicken has been added to country soba. I had been eating chewy udon until now, but this has a different taste. Thick and soft country soba. I enjoyed it. Thank you for the meal!! I just can’t suppress my desire for a roadside station!! I stopped off at my favorite roadside station. It’s located before crossing into Awaji Island. At the entrance, delicious corn greets you. I want to spread soy sauce on it and grill it over charcoal!! Watermelon is already here! I also had the first harvest at the greengrocer near my house. Since this is Tokushima Prefecture, there were some very delicious looking sudachi. I can really feel the signs of summer coming!! I found some delicious mirin-boshi!! From Tokushima or Kochi Prefecture. Let’s buy it. It’s the best rice accompaniment!! There was also wakame kimchi! It’s a kimchi that you don’t see very often. Huge fried chicken and various side dishes! Located at the entrance to Shikoku from the Kansai area, this is a really recommended roadside station! Delicious soy milk made from 100% domestic soybeans. All that’s left is to go home, so I bought some! I brought a cooler bag with me. Pickled morning salt, which I had run out of. Roasted salt from the Seto Inland Sea… I’ll buy it! I also used this soup stock powder, but now I have a different powder at home, so I’ll hold off. Here are the items I bought. It was a fun time at the roadside station. The fish cutlet that was sold in the seafood section earlier is now in the shop! I was wondering what to get, Irica croquette, when my food-fighting husband decided to buy it! The fish cutlet is made of minced fish with curry flavor, and is lightly fried, so it seems to be popular with children! It was delicious. Croquettes are delicious, aren’t they? I’m really enjoying it. Let’s go home now! It was fun! It was a great trip. I was able to enjoy a little bit of udon, gourmet food, sightseeing, and nature. I want to continue going to many different places and make lots of memories!! I hope you will subscribe to my channel and wait for updates. See you in the next video. Thank you for watching until the end!!!
