This crème brûlée is not only delicious, but compared to a typical one is:
150 VS 300 calories (1/2 the calories)
6g fat VS 25g (1/4 the fat)
12g sugar (many natural) VS 37g (1/3 the sugar)
1.6g saturated fat VS 8.5g (less than 1/4)
17g carbs VS 40g (less than 1/2 the carbs)
7g protein VS 4g (almost double, and you can make it more with a different milk!)
PLUS the added nutrients from the butternut squash!!

INGREDIENTS
2 cups milk of choice *I used almond to keep it lower calorie
6 tbsp arrowroot powder
6 eggs
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1/4 cup maple syrup
1/2 cup roasted butternut squash
Sprinkle sugar for brûlée topping *see tomorrow’s reel for an episode of “Will it Brûlée?” For healthier possibilities!

DIRECTIONS
🍮Whisk together eggs, arrowroot powder and 2 tablespoons of the almond milk until smooth in a small in heated saucepan.
🍮Add the remaining almond milk, one third at a time, whisking constantly until all the milk is combined and mixture is smooth.
🍮Whisk in maple syrup, vanilla and butternut squash.
🍮Turn up heat, and heat to medium heat and WHISK CONSTANTLY.
🍮As mixture begins to heat, it will thicken quickly- keep whisking.
🍮Once it’s fairly thick, turn off the heat and allow custard to sit on hot stove for 1 – 2 minutes.
🍮Pour into 6 ramekins or cups.
🍮Chill in the fridge for a minimum of 30 minutes(longer is better and helps it thicken) and torch before enjoying! (I’ve also seen it broiled, but I have not tried!)
